You are a really lucky parent, if your kids eat whatever you give them. But not everyone can include themselves in that league because the fussy eater of the world vast outnumbers those who eat anything that’s edible. As kids grow, their food habits also change, but to manage their eating habits is a huge task in itself. Making such kids eat certain vegetables and fruits can be quite frustrating. Several parents are worried about their kids’ eating habits. Parents consciously try different recipes so as to make their children take in some nutritional food.

If this is what happens in your home a lot too, you must take a look at this article. Following are some tips that can cure the habits of your picky eater kids:

1. Make the dishes more attractive. Try to make different recipes out of the foodstuffs your fun kids eating do not like to eat. Mash these foods and include them if possible in the recipe. When you do that your kids won’t know what actually they are eating, if you can mask the taste with other things. A good idea is to give them their detested vegetables in form of sandwiches cut in tiny pieces. All children like sandwiches.

2. Be creative and experiment with food. Try preparing the dishes your children like with the food items they do not like. This will certainly confuse the kids. They will at least take a taste of it, and chances are they will like the preparation as a whole. This is a great way to make children eat the nutritional foods they otherwise hate. You can find many such creative ideas on the Internet.

3. Tell them stories when they eat. This sounds inane, but parents from all over the world use this ploy when they are trying to feed their children things they do not readily eat. You can ingeniously make up a personalized story with the kid in it and their favorite superhero. For good measure, put a segment in the story where the superhero derives strength from eating that very food. Something like Popeye getting his power from eating spinach!

4. Make them have all necessary foods in the form of milkshakes. Children cannot resist milkshakes. You can use them to make them eat the fruits they don’t like. If your child like mango, tell them you are making a mango milkshake. But don’t make a pure mango milkshake. Blend another fruit that you want the child to eat, like papaya or plantain. The taste will be different, but the child will still consume it because milkshake is irresistible.

5. Introduce new foods when you are eating out. You will be surprised to know that most kids won’t eat certain foods at home, but they will eat them outside. So, if your child does not like a particular thing, order that food when you are eating out. Always order salads and veggies with your main meals so that kids get them in their digestive systems too. You will find they throw significantly less tantrums about food when they are eating out.
