Diet Fitness-Get Fit And Live Better

Diet fitness is the buzz word of the moment. Magazines, radio shows and television all tell us we need a better body, a leaner look and gyms, health clubs and myriad fitness centers have sprung up everywhere to cater for the demand.
It is all very well going to the gym or health club and pounding away on the running machine, bench pressing ever increasing weights and stretching every fiber in your body but, and it’s an important but, if you want to turn your unfit, unhealthy body into a sex machine you do need to give a lot of consideration to what you are feeding it. This is diet fitness.
Diet fitness is the fuel for your quest to a fitter body, Ferraris’ don’t run on cheap diesel and your body won’t reach anywhere near its’ potential without the proper fuel.Diet fitness is the foundation upon which every other fitness program is built. Without the right food, in the right amounts and at the right times you will not reach your potential.
The basic requirement for all life is water. Our bodies are around seventy per cent water and we cannot afford to lose too much of it. Think of an engine without oil, it may run for a little while but it will seize and refuse to budge eventually. A human can survive weeks without food but only a day or so without water.
Drink at least two liters of water a day but sip it all through your waking hours, don’t just guzzle it down in one go, this can be dangerous and besides it will just make you wee!
There is a lot of debate as to what best constitutes diet fitness from the pro-fat Atkins diet to the high carb low fat diets which seem to spring up every other day. It is a matter of choice but remember you are what you eat! An article I read told of a woman who had celebrated her 104thh birthday and she was still working! She is a supervisor in a sugar plantation and she lives without a lot of the basic things which we all take for granted like running water.
She walked to work, she walked for water and she walked to the store, this woman walked everywhere and she ate fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and little meat. I think this is a perfect example of diet fitness and she didn’t need a magazine to tell her.
Diet fitness will include as much variety in your meals as possible as we need a range of nutrients which we can only get from eating a wide variety of different foods. You should try to make your plate as colorful as possible with foods that are fresh and in season. Out of season foods tend to be force grown or transported huge distances so the nutrients will suffer, and it’s nutrients we are looking for.
Please don’t confuse diet fitness with a ‘diet’ as you will not be counting calories but weighing up only what you put inside your body. Diet fitness is a matter of eating good, nutritious food in the right quantities. So what is the right quantity? I believe you should be able to hold a single meal in the palm of your hand, this is an excellent gauge as bigger people, who need more nutrients, have bigger hands.
You can eat five or even six meals a day of the hand size portion remembering to ensure you have as much variety as possible and drink lots of water. In most of the developed world tap water is as good as anything so leave the bottled stuff on the shelf and save some plastic. Buy a treadmill and you are set for a fitter, better, sexier life. Diet fitness is your way to a new you.
