Metabolic Keys For Weight Loss
Posted by Directinc in FitnessWe all know that it is the substance of a person’s character that makes them who they are. With that said, a person must also have a secure sense of self in order to find true happiness.
Much of society’s “grading” is based on what a person looks like on the outside, and because of this, many people are unhappy with who they are. It is unfortunate that a lot of us are unable to be happy with ourselves just as we are, whether we’re old, young, tall, short, skinny, fat, or any combination of these.
But what if I told you there was a way, an easy way, to accomplish a fit and healthy body in a relatively short amount of time? One of the first things you need to know is how your body actually burns calories. Your metabolic rate is the rate at which the body burns calories. This is different for each person. Ideally, if you consume 2000 calories a day and burn the same number of calories, then your weight will stay the same.
The number of calories or the intensity of daily activity has to change in order to lose or gain weight. With weight loss in mind, you need to know how to speed up or increase your metabolism. The good news is that there is actually quite a bit you can do to speed up your metabolism: get active, eat small, frequent meals, focus on protein-rich foods, spice up your meals, drink plenty of green tea, try CLA supplements, keep cool, or take in a sauna.
When you burn calories, you are providing energy for your BMR, or Basal Metabolic Rate. These are calories burned just by being alive, and account for about 60% of calories burned. Calories also provide energy for your activities (which account for 15-30% of calories burned), and your dietary thermogenesis (calories burned in the process of eating, digesting, absorbing and using food.) By knowing this information, you can now focus on how to effectively lose weight: by increasing your metabolic rate.
Muscle building is the most influential factor in changing your metabolism. Did you know that for every pound of muscle you put on your body, you can burn approximately 50 extra calories each day? Another way is to just plain move more! It might sound silly, but moving keeps you burning calories as well. For instance, tapping your feet, drumming your fingers, changing positions, using stairs, parking in a far corner or standing when you’re on the phone can all have a positive impact on your metabolism.
Remember to keep moving, and you’ll be able to do this always. There is also evidence that eating spicy food can increase our metabolic rate up to 50% for up to 3 hours. Aerobic exercise is another way to burn calories. Speed walking, step aerobics, jogging or swimming 3-4 times a week will meet this requirement. Finally, eating little meals often will keep your metabolism going faster.
