5 Easy Ways To Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

People around the world are starting to prepare for the holidays. Once again, the time of the year is almost when celebrations happen with bountiful feasts. It’s the time when luscious meals are served and topped with delightful treats that young and old enjoy. This is also the year when we tend let go and just give in to all those cravings that we’ve suppressed over the months. And so we binge, thinking summer is still months away, a few extra servings wouldn’t really hurt. And before you know it, you’ve gained a few extra pounds. All those weeks and months of weight loss training and physical fitness routines down the drain.

So how do we avoid the holiday weight gain? Careful planning and consideration must be made so that you wouldn’t have to put in extra effort after the season to shed off the pounds that you’ve gained. Here are some tips on how avoid gaining those extra pounds over the holidays:

1)Don’t go on an extended holiday binge spree. Keep in mind that holidays are only a few days. You get eat more that what you normally consume during those days and not on the days surrounding it. Snacking on holiday leftovers is what causes those extra pounds. Don’t store too much of those holiday feasts. Otherwise you’ll find yourself making trips to and from the fridge snacking on turkey sandwiches and rich desserts.

2)Even if it’s the holiday season, keep yourself busy with physical activities such as jogging, or playing ball in the park, or simply strolling around to enjoy the holiday displays and lights. There are plenty of activities to do during the holidays, get-out and have fun! Extra activity during this time will help increase your metabolism and avoid you from gaining too much weight over the holidays.

3)Holiday season is also a time wherein there would be plenty of drinking. Avoid taking in too much alcohol. Alcoholic beverages contain calories than can turn into fat. Avoid those high-calorie alcoholic beverages mixes that are full of sugar. Beer is also high on carbohydrates. Always drink moderately.

4)Remember to drink plenty of water. Water helps cleanse our body. It aids in detoxification and avoids dehydration. Drinking plenty water will also help you feel full so you would not be tempted to grab big snacks in between meals.

5)The holiday season is the season for desserts! And lots of it, all kinds of sweets and pastries just right in front of you. To avoid gaining too much weight this holiday season, try skipping every once in awhile. Don’t store too much of those rich desserts, go for healthier options such as fruit or desserts that offer low calorie intake. It wouldn’t be that hard to do if you plan and organize well.

It’s really quite simple to avoid gaining extra pounds during the holidays. All it takes is a few considerations and planning. Acknowledging tips will help you avoid having to shed off excess pounds soon as the holidays are over.
