Where Are Your Acres Of Diamonds?
Posted by Successu7 in Personal DevelopmentEvery single day, people everywhere dream of becoming rich and hitting the big time. Some will dream, others will wait for it to happen, while others try to run to find it. The Holy Grail they seek. Whether it be a key to success or a key to prosperity. However, only a few will find it.
Where are your acres of diamonds? Are they in a business opportunity in a far off land? Are they in a business that you currently are not in? I hear often people talk about ideas. They seem like idea people, like inventors. But, the only inventions and ideas manifest - has come from others.
I am sure you have had a time when you said ‘I though of that once’. Though you may have the solace of having once the exact same idea, only someone else took it to the bank. Oddly enough many people will chase wealth, and as Henry Ford once said, if you chase wealth, you will never find it.
Once Russell H. Conwell gave a lecture called ‘Acres Of Diamonds’, and he spoke about how we all have our own acres of diamonds. The Sufi mystic Rumi also had a similar tale. However, both these sources contain vital answers.
I often hear that to succeed you have to find the winning opportunity; however, this is not the case. A fad will not bring you long term success. What is hot today may not be so, tomorrow. The key however, is to look at yourself. After all simply jumping into something because others are succeeding at it, is not necessarily your key to success.
Do you good at cooking? Do you have a winning recipe that others can’t resist? Do you have a solution to a problem? It could be a small difference. Imagine making this difference for others. How happy and pleased will they be?
You can’t sit down and invent. You can’t sit down and say I am going to find an idea today, and make it a success. You need to be active in what you love to do. Sometimes we try something and it fails. Many at that point will give up, and never try again, however a few will go forward and achieve success.
This does not mean you will be a success in what you do. I remember hearing of a man with a garage. Fixing cars his hands would be so full of oil and grease, that no soap would clean his hands fully.
This led the man to formulate his own hand washing product for mechanics. This made the man a huge success. Indirectly in his business, he had a problem. Everyone had that problem, but when he found the solution, everyone was happy. And he became a success.
You too can be successful. The key is awareness. However, if you find yourself trying to chase something, it is unlikely to bear fruit. You have all you need to succeed. What skills do you have? What do you enjoy? What solutions do you have to a problem that others have?
All too often, we will give up such thoughts. You may think that what you have just thought of may not be what others want. You may think that everyone knows that, has a solution to that, does what you do. But, this in most cases is not the case. Like the invention where you may say afterward ‘I thought of that’, this is that time. Give it a go, go for it, and see if you can be the one to say ‘I did that’.
