How Can You Prevent Acne Breakouts Once And For All

Posted by Snook2 in Beauty

The reality is that all acne sufferers wish that they had clear beautiful skin. Acne can really plague a sufferer physically and emotionally. As a result there is an abundance of information out there on so called miracle cures and expensive concoctions that supposedly can get rid of your acne breakouts once and for all. However, many of these are just taking advantage of a sufferers weak emotional state as unfortunately acne cures don’t currently exist. So if you are suffering from acne breakouts and looking for solutions to manage your acne here are some useful tips.

Start a food diary. Many people would be surprised to note that some foods just don’t react well with your body and can be a cause of some of your breakouts. If there is a particular food that is causing you breakouts then wouldn’t you want to know so that you can make an informed decision as to whether you want to give it up or not? This could save you many years of unnecessary heart ache and pain of suffering with acne with a simple change in your diet. While there are many wives tales of particular foods like chocolate causing acne the reality is that there is no comprehensive study that supports this claim.

What you want to do is work out which foods correlate with your acne breakouts as your body is unique to you. Over time if you consistently see breakouts occurring after eating certain foods then you can start by experimenting to see what happens to your breakouts once you stop eating that food for a period of time.

Drink more water. You have no doubt heard this one before. Your body is made up largely of water and it serves a vital part in cleansing your body and keeping you healthy. So it would stand to reason that if you want to have healthy skin you want to be drinking plenty of water. You should be consuming something close to 8 cups of water a day. Drinking tea, coffee or juice doesn’t count. It needs to be pure water, preferably filtered if at all possible.

Have a consistent cleansing routine. Start and implement a consistent cleansing routine for your face that you can be happy with. Find a gentle cleanser, toner and an acne preventative solution that you can use for your routine. Do away with soap when it comes to your face as it tends to dry out your face to much and agitates your skin. A gentle cleanser that you can buy from the local shops can suffice, you don’t need any of the expensive marketed ones. Once you have your products you need to clean your face twice a day, washing your face more than that daily doesn’t do you any good and may even result in more breakouts. If you are having quite severe breakouts you want to continue with your washing routine while also consulting a doctor or dermatologist. They can assist you with either anti-bacterial medication or even stronger medications that can bring your acne under control.

Do You Suffer From Body Acne?

Posted by Sadhivm in Beauty

Usually, when you think of acne you automatically think of the condition affecting the face. However, for some people, acne also affects the body and it can be just as hard to get rid of as acne on the face. The only advantage to body acne is that most of the time it is not noticeable and in winter most of the body is covered up so most people cannot see it. However, it can still cause problems with depression, relationship problems, and overall self esteem problems.

Body Acne and How it Affects You

Body acne is generally more common on the back, shoulders, chest, and occasionally on the buttocks. It has also been known to affect the armpits and other strange areas.

If you do get acne on your buttocks and no where else on the body, it could potentially be caused by friction during workouts. Ordinary friction will not cause acne, but it does when the friction is increased. One way to try and eliminate this problem is to have a shower after you have finished exercising. This will really help to get rid of any dirt and sweat which accumulates during exercise. It may also help to apply moisturizer to the areas which have had the most friction.

Depending on the severity of the acne, it can sometimes be hard to get rid of. Sometimes back acne can be the hardest to treat and it really can become a nightmare to get rid of.

The cause of acne to the body is currently not known, but it is known that any irritation to the affected area can make it worse. If a person perspires a lot and they wear tight fitting clothing, this is a big benefactor towards acne. Tight fitting clothing makes the trapped sweat on the skin mix with surface oils, and as a result the pores become blocked and blemishes start to form.

Treatment for Body Acne

So how do you treat body acne? Well the treatments are similar to those for facial acne; however, body acne tends to be a little more resistant to treatment. The skin is a lot thicker on the body than it is on the face, and another problem is that there is more friction from clothing on the affected areas. This irritates the acne more hence it flares the condition up.

There are many treatments that can be used to treat body acne. One method which is highly recommended is to apply benzoyl peroxide cleanser in the shower, and apply benzoyl peroxide gel afterwards. This is a really strong elimination method and you should see efficient results. If this does not work, it is best to get advice from a dermatologist, who may prescribe Accutane which is extremely powerful. It is better to have the right attitude when treating body acne. Results will not happen over night, so it is suggested that you pursue with the treatment and not give up on it.

A useful tip which may seem obvious but which many people ignore is to drink plenty of water during the day. If the body is not replenished enough it can lead to dehydration, and in turn this will lead to the dead skin cells not naturally falling off. Due to this, it can lead to blocked pores. So, it is always better to drink as much water as often as possible.

There are many myths surrounding certain factors that are supposed to cause acne to flare up. A prime example is chocolate. This has not been proven to make acne worse so therefore it is a myth. It is better to undertake a well balanced and healthy diet, but the odd bar of chocolate is not going to harm your acne.

Overall body acne is more common than you think and as mentioned, it is fairly hard to get rid of. There are treatments that can help though and consulting your doctor is your best option. They will be able to tell you which treatments will work better for you. Do not expect overly fast results and always take a shower after exercise.

New Organic Skin Care Recipes To Treat Various Ailments Naturally

Posted by Sadhivm in Beauty

Whether it is a tired eyes, wrinkles, insect bites or burns, there are times that things can happen to your skin. With the following organic skin care recipes and tips, you can treat various ailments naturally, leaving behind many of the man made pollutants that are absorbed into our bodies through most over the counter aids.

Insect Bites

Recipe #1: Mix 1 drop of organic almond essential oil and 2 tablespoons baking soda and 4 tablespoons of distilled water to form a paste. Apply to bite and let sit for 20 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry

Recipe #2: Mix 8 ounces distilled water with 2 tablespoons Epsom Salt. Apply compress made of a wash cloth soaked this mixture.

Oily Skin/ Acne

Recipe #1: Make a mask of 1/4 organic apple (cored but unpeeled), 1 organic egg white, 1/2 organic lemon (peeled and deseeded), 30 organic Thompson seedless grapes, 4 tablespoons organic watercress (finely chopped). Blend all ingredients on medium for 3 minutes. Apply to face using cotton balls and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Recipe #2: Mix 1/4 cup organic yogurt (plain) with 1 tablespoon brewer’s yeast. The mixture should be runny; if not, add a bit more brewers yeast. Apply to oily zones and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Recipe #3: Mix 1/2 cup organic oat flour, juice from 1/2 organic orange, and 1 teaspoon organic honey. Apply to face and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Scrapes

Recipe #1: This remedy should be made in advance and kept for times when it is needed. First you will need to create 4 special oils. You will need organic extra virgin olive oil, three airtight, glass jars and 4 fresh organic herbs: calendula, plantain, red clover, and St. Johns Wort.

Let the herbs wilt for one day, then put each type in its own jar and cover the herbs with olive oil. Close the jars and leave in direct sunlight for two weeks. Strain oil to use. Once your oils are made, you will need 1/4 cup of each of your special oils and 1 cup organic beeswax.

Melt the oils and beeswax in a large, microwave safe bowl, pour into an airtight, glass jar and let cool. If the mixture is too runny after completely cooling, you need to add a bit more beeswax and melt again, if it is too thick, add a bit more oil and melt again. Apply to wounds when needed much like you would with ready made antibacterial ointments.

Recipe #2:Soak the area with Epsom Salt dissolved in warm water. This is easiest done by taking a warm bath with 2 cups of Epsom Salt in it.

Splinters

Recipe #1: Soak the area with Epsom Salt dissolved in warm water. This is easiest done by taking a warm bath with 2 cups of Epsom Salt in it. Because Epsom Salt draws toxins out of the skin and acts as an anti inflammatory, this bath will draw the splinter to the surface.

Recipe #2: Bandage a thin slice of organic potato over the splinter and let stay overnight. Potato draws things out of the skin and the splinter should be to the surface by morning.

Sunburn Relief

Recipe #1: Mix 5 organic cucumbers (pureed) and 2 1/2 cups powdered milk in a bowl. Pour mixture into tepid/warm bath and soak burned areas for 20 minutes. The mixture can be applied directly to the burned skin, if you prefer.

Recipe #2: Soak the burned area with Epsom Salt dissolved in warm water. This is easiest done by taking a tepid/warm bath with 2 cups of Epsom Salt in it.

Tired Eyes

Grate raw potato and wrap in cheesecloth. Apply to eyelids for 20 minutes, wiping the starchy residue away before applying makeup.

Wrinkles:

Recipe #1: Cut organic Thompson seedless grapes in half and crush on wrinkles, especially near eyes and mouth. Leave the juice on your face for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water, repeat daily.

Recipe #2: Mash a very ripe organic banana extremely well, apply to entire face and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water

How To Choose A Medical Spa

Posted by Imajschool in Beauty

Life is much better when you are surrounded by people you trust. From your mechanic to your hair stylist, it is important to know that the people you rely on have the training and experience to do the job right. This is not always easy to find.

Living with a bad hair cut is one thing, but when it comes to skin care and our efforts to slow the signs of aging there are more permanent risks to be considered. Selecting the right skin care professional is not only a matter of protecting your good looks, but also preserving your health and personal safety.

The fastest growing segment of the skin care industry is the medical spa business. The ability to obtain significant cosmetic enhancements with new technologies that do not require the down-time or financial insult of traditional cosmetic surgery provides a remarkable opportunity for those individuals who do not want to go under the knife. Medical spas often offer services that include wrinkle and cellulite reduction, hair removal, skin rejuvenation and more.

It is important to remember, however, that while you can typically stop by the medical spa at the mall on your lunch break to have one of these services performed, these are still medically based procedures that need to be regarded as such. There is always the potential for serious injury if the procedures are performed inappropriately. The most common side-effects related to medical aesthetic services are burns and subsequent scarring.

So how do you select a medical spa or medical aesthetic services provider that can offer the result you are looking for and maintain your safety? The answer, of course, is training and experience.

If you choose to have a consultation with a medical aesthetics professional, ask some basic questions. Do they hold a professional license? Often laser technicians or medical aesthetics professionals will also have cosmetology, skin care, or medical licensing. In the case of Botox or other injectable procedures, is your provider a nurse, physician assistant, or physician? Did they attend a reputable laser or medical aesthetics training school? If the provider is not a physician, then ask about the qualifications and background of the supervising physician. Ask to see before and after pictures of actual clients. In the case of laser services, ask to have a test spot treatment performed so that you can become familiar with the sensation involved with the treatment. This will also help to ensure that you are not prone to hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation (lightening or darkening of the skin).

Another great way to learn more about your medical aesthetics provider is to check them out online. Look for chat rooms or web logs where other people may have commented on the level of service and results they received from the provider. When it comes to your body and your personal safety, make sure to do your homework.

Medical spas have much to offer and are becoming an integral part of the lives of millions of people each year. Having a medical spa you can trust can make all the difference.

What Is A Laser Hair Removal Center

Posted by Askafriend in Beauty

A laser hair removal center is a place that offers you the services of the hi-tech laser hair removal equipment. Here you can say goodbye to the daily, weekly or monthly hassles of removing hair. You no longer have to bear the agony of hair being ripped out of your skin during waxing or the messy inconvenience of chemical depilatories. Laser hair removal as offered at a center removes hair in a painless and virtually permanent manner.

How is hair removed?
Lasers are directed at the hair follicles until they have absorbed as much laser energy as possible and then die. The science behind this treatment is simple; dark colors absorb light energy while lighter ones reflect it. Thus while the darker hair follicle is affected by the laser beams the lighter skin is not. Therefore light skin with darker hair is ideal for laser hair removal. However darker skin tones can also benefit from this treatment by bleaching the area before removal. While this is a fairly painless process with the discomfort caused easily taken care of by applying ice to the affected area, a mild antiseptic may also be applied.

How long will it take to have hair removed?
The amount of time spent on a single sitting will depend on the amount of area that needs to be covered. Thus removing hair from the eyebrows will take less time as compared to the legs or he arms. Usually a minimum of three sittings at the laser hair removal center are required. This is because at a time only three fourths of a person’s hair grows. So to ensure that all the hair from a region is removed you need to have at least three sittings spaced apart by a month each time.

How is a center different from a clinic?
You say ‘to-may-to’, I say ‘to-mah-to’ etc. That is about the only difference between the two. Like a clinic a center is run under the supervision of a qualified medical practitioner. In fact most states in America require that laser equipment be used by doctors and qualified staff only. The hair removal technology at a laser hair removal center is approved by the FDA.

Risks to consider
There is minimal risk in having removed at a laser hair removal center as you are assured that you are in competent and qualified hands. Temporary discoloration of skin is seen in occasional cases. It is important to follow the doctor’s advice and instruction to minimize risk of skin damage after the hair removal. Protection from the sun’s harsh rays is vital and a sunscreen of SPF 15 or more must be used. Tanning should not be done during the time period that you are going to the center and should be avoided till such time as your doctor tells you it is okay.

Costof the Service
The pricing differs from center to center and is also dependent on the cosmetic surgeon. Furthermore the cost would be dependent on the number of sittings required and the amount of area from which the hair has to be removed. Usually a single sitting costs about $100 - $500. In comparison with the costs of traditional ways of hair removal it is higher, but remember that it is a painless process that frees you of the hassle of regularly removing unwanted hair. In addition it is important to note that the procedure is performed by and under the able guidance of a doctor.

Cheap Natural Dry Skin Care Product Clears Skin Up Fast

Posted by Twinpeak in Beauty

The symptoms most associated with dry skin are scaling, which is the visible peeling of the outer skin layer, itching and cracks in the skin. Only a lucky few of us have ‘normal’ skin; the rest of us have dry, oily or combination skin; if dryness is your skin problem, read on.

Skin is made up of loose connective tissue and elastin. The average square inch of skin holds 650 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels, 60,000 melanocytes, and more than a thousand nerve endings. Our skin also receives less blood flow and lower gland activity than the other organs in our body.

The symptoms most associated with dry skin are: scaling, which is the visible peeling of the outer skin layer, itching, and cracks in the skin. Serious skin complications, including a dry skin condition, can arise for people with type 2 diabetes. When the skin loses moisture it may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed.

If you break out on the skin around your eyes, it could be the shellac in your mascara; buy a shellac-free mascara like Ecco Bella’s. Certain drugs, including diuretics, antispasmodics, and antihistamines, can contribute to dry skin conditions; check with your pharmacist or doctor and read the drug insert - you can get one from your pharmacist. Bathing or showering too frequently, especially if one is using harsh soaps, may contribute to dry skin.

Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements, in liquid form, every day. The next time you want to have a snack, instead of junk food, help your skin - have an apple, orange, peach, pear, banana, plum, grapes, cherries, berries, cantaloupe or any other fresh fruit. Use olive oil or olive oil with fresh flaxseed oil in big, dark green salads to help your skin.

Apply cool compresses to any itchy areas. Use bath oils and moisturizers, or better yet, coconut oil, daily. Apply moisturizers just after a bath or shower, when your skin is still damp.

To see what coconut oil can do for your skin fast, apply coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime. When you buy coconut oil, make sure you get the kind that hasn’t been refined, processed and deodorized. Apply coconut oil to irritated or chapped lips as well; it’s edible, so it’s safe and so healing to the lips.

If you have acne, eczema or any type of dermatitis coconut oil will treat and quickly heal these skin conditions too. Coconut oil is the best healing, soothing, and moisturizing treatment I’ve found for dry skin; in fact all types of skin conditions, skin eruptions, pimples, acne, milia, irritations, cuts, burns, fungus, etc.

The skin supports its own ecosystem of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning. Functions of the skin are disturbed when it’s not clean; it becomes more easily damaged, the release of antibacterial compounds decreases and it’s more prone to develop infections.

If your dry skin lasts for a long time and is itchy or feels hot when you touch it, see your doctor. Continue using coconut oil and you’ll see the benefits in good, clear skin, free of dryness and other skin conditions. It’s time to call your doctor for an appointment when all your home remedies do not relieve your dryness and itching.
