Car Auctions : Everything You Need To Know

Posted by Henry_pgt1 in Cars and Trucks

A good way to understand this area of interest is to read the following paragraphs you have come to the right place.

It’s easy to find discounted car bargains at car auctions. As usual Not only can great deals on used cars be found there, but also some incredulous higher model cars too. Many people purchase cars this much either for themselves or to sell at a profit. As usual But unless you keep some things in mind the auction can turn into a nightmare.

Some of what can go wrong includes buying a bad car. As usual There are lemons at auctions too. Cars sold at such auctions are generally sold according to used car laws which tend to make it an as is sale. As usual Remember the old Sesame Street skit in which a man looks over a car with as is in the window The old children’s show Electric Company taught children about this with a man considering used car with an as is sign in the window. As he inspects the car he asks a lot of questions to which the salesperson always responds as is. As usual Once the sale is made and the man tries to enter the car, it shakes itself apart. I want the car as was! Screams the angry driver. Do not be like that man.

People are given the chance to inspect the vehicles at car auctions. As usual Avoid the auctions that do. not Spend time at the facility before the auction begins. Test drive the cars you like. If you do not know anything about cars, bring someone who does. As usual If that cannot happen then test drive it to a quick inspection at a garage. It doesn’t take long to check key components like the engine and breaks. Check other elements for damage. As usual This includes the body, upholstery, and bumpers .

Another problem is inherent in auctions. Auctions can be a great deal, but the price could also be more than common retail. As usual That holds true for car auctions too. The bidding can easily escalate to well over the car’s value. There are also fees to pay, so pay close attention. Easily accessible date on car values are standard issue for auction buyers. No need to even look it up in advance since the information is online and phones can access it. Even for the car of your dreams, do not bid more than its value.

Keep in mind there are deals to be found. As usual Do not go in blind, however. If a deal appears too good to be true, it is, even at car auctions. Thanks for reading!

When a man throws an empty cigarette package from an automobile, he is liable to a fine of $5. When a man throws a billboard across a view, he is richly rewarded. Pat Brown, quoted in David Ogilvy, Ogilvy on Advertising, 1985

Where To Take Your Rental Car In Australia

Posted by Anutt in Cars and Trucks

Australia is such a unique and fascinating country that it`s really a good idea to get out of the city and take your rental vehicle for a little road trip. Even if you are only in the country for a few days, you can see something.

There are plenty of attractions and natural vistas to be enjoyed within a short distance from any major city and if you`re hankering for a longer road trip, then there are plenty of scenic driving tours that beckon the traveler.

Short Trips

If you aren`t interested in driving more than half a day or so, these attractions will let you see more of Australia without getting too far from home, or hotel, as the case may be.

Hunter Valley Wineries: Just a couple hours outside of Sydney, this is the perfect spot to enjoy nature and take a wine tasting tour. The views here are astounding.

Gipsland: A well-known skiing destination, Gipsland is nice and close to Melbourne and during the warmer months, you can picnic here or take hikes. When snow covered, these hills are perfect for trying out your snowboarding skills.

The Royal Botanical Gardens: This is found in Melbourne and is the epitome of botanical gardens. Here you`ll find more than 12,000 different types of plants, many of which are native to Australia.

Creswick Regional Park: Check out some real live koala bears and take a hike through the eucalyptus trees, or have a picnic by the lake here. It`s also a good place to try your hand at gold panning and fossicking, if you have a permit.

Buchanan Caves: Enjoy a tour through amazing limestone formations deep inside this cave system. It`s a bit of a drive, 360 km outside of Melbourne, but well worth the trip. Plan for a picnic outside the caves once you finish your tour.

Swan Hill: Just under 4 hours from Melbourne, this trip is a bit of a long one. You`ll be traveling alongside the Murray River and will have the opportunity to take a houseboat out on the river or check out the homesteads along the way.

Longer Trips
For those who are looking for something a bit more exciting, there are several long drives available that allow you to get a good look at more of the Australian scenery.

The Great Southern Touring Route: This is a fairly small tour of 807 km that starts and ends in Melbourne. It allows you to travel along the coast, through historical towns and to catch a glimpse of what rural Australia looks like.

The Matilda Highway: A real road trip at 2,725 km, this is a route that will take you through some pretty desolate areas. It`s a great way to see the real Australia and your best chance of meeting some true characters. You begin in Sydney, ending up in Karumba to the north.

Great Ocean Road: The perfect tour for anyone interested in sticking close to the ocean. The road winds along the coast, allowing for little stops in quaint towns and seaside villages. On your way, take a look at Port Fairy and Apollo Bay and don`t forget to sample the local seafood.

One of the main advantages of renting a vehicle in Australia is getting around to these different areas.

If you are stuck using public transport, chances are you`ll never get out of the city and will miss some of the amazing scenery that Victoria has to offer. There are simply too many sights to see and you`ll miss the best ones without a car.

How To Get That Touch Of Luxury

Posted by Galway in Cars and Trucks

For those looking for luxury car hire, Bentley’s have always been a hot favourite. The Arnage is one classic car that is often used for luxury car hire due to its reputation for a smooth ride in comfort and style. However, if you want an Arnage for hiring, then it could soon be the case that you can only get vintage ones.

Bentley are due to stop production of the Arnage after ninety years. The Final Series is a celebration of all things Bentley and the Arnage T has been displayed at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. With a 6.75 V8 engine that chucks out 500hp and 738lb-ft of torque, the Arnage is going out in style. With badges declaring it the ‘Final Series’ there really is no going back now.

Production of the Final Series is expected to be limited to 150 with prices as yet undecided. The new generation from Bentley is expected to utilise their partnership with VW and Audi, with influences apparent.
So, what is it that makes someone choose a particular car over another for luxury car hire?

Well, if it’s the Arnage you’re looking at it could be something to do with the fact that the rear passenger pod has a bespoke flask and shot glasses stowed in a cocktail cabinet. Picnic tables are also installed for those fancy little hors d’oeuvres - this is truly a car for entertaining but it’s not the sort that everybody wants - it often depends on the occasion.

There are times when you may wish to use luxury car hire to ferry you and your friends around on, say, a hunting and shooting expedition. This is going to require a little more muscle than a Bentley could offer so you could always choose something along the lines of a Range Rover. This has more power for the type of terrain you are likely to encounter on this sort of day out.

For the happy couples about to get hitched, a Range Rover really wouldn’t cut it in the realms of luxury car hire and a Rolls Royce may be more what you are looking for. This car comes with a reputation more for sleek stylishness and class as opposed to ‘oomph’.

For those using luxury car hire to ferry clients about when they need to impress them, a Mercedes or BMW are popular choices. These are quiet inside as well as being spacious which is perfect for conducting meetings en-route, meaning that you arrive at your destination unflustered and in control.

Of course, for those more in the public eye, none of the above may be applicable. Of course, you wouldn’t expect them to have anything less than luxury but the more in the public eye you are, the more you will find the need for better protection.

This can often come in the form of an armoured car. After all, you cannot afford to take chances, particularly when your family are involved. For this reason, many people choose to use luxury car hire in an armoured vehicle. There is no way to tell from the outside that you have this protection (unless, of course, you are driving around in a tank) but it does come with peace of mind.

So, luxury car hire comes with many more flexible options than many people expect and for little more than the cost of an average car, you could have that touch of luxury or protection that would otherwise be missing.

Uniquely Unique: Super Modified Cars At SEMA

Posted by Gsmyth in Cars and Trucks

SEMA is like an alternate universe of car manufacturing, with grand styling, amazing colors, and everything that a car manufacturer wants to put in their vehicles, without any consideration of its marketability.

They simply consider its “cool factor”, its speed, and its uniqueness. Mercedes Autos recently made a debut at SEMA, in the 2008 show, and as usual there were plenty of other wild and crazy entries to be seen. We look over some of the best and most exciting.

Mercedes Autos has traditionally been associated with luxury and class, traditional styling and immaculately tuned performance engines. Mercedes vehicles do the luxury sedan and high speed coupe so well - and now they are rolling up their sleeves and letting down their hair with some super modified models that were seen at SEMA recently.

The Renntech Rally Racer was one of the highlights of the show - like a GLK optimized for the infamous Pikes Peak. The engine modifications are only the start of the story - there is a parallel hybrid under the hood, making this an electric car available to some in Hong Kong with an extra 40 pound-foot of torque.

This unique sports car that will soon be seen in Hong Kong is ideal for mountain runs, because the electric engine does not lose power along with an increase in altitude. It has around 350hp, with KW coil over shock suspension, 20 inch wheels, and inside, carbon fiber bucket seats and a roll cage. One of the most individual Mercedes vehicles we have seen for some time!

Another of Mercedes great entries to the 2008 SEMA show was the Interactive Off-Roader. Mercedes vehicles have become among the more popular off-roaders in recent years, with their legendary technological capabilties and reputation for not barrings any holds in capability. This sports car unique among Hong Kong vehicles is something different though.

The 14 year old son of Legendary’s owner asked “Why not make a ride I can skateboard on?”, and his father agreed - “Why not?”. There is a rear mounted Grinch Winch - able to tow boarders up to 30mph. Once at speed, skateboarders can launch up a detachable ramp on this unique sports car in Hong Kong, and grind on customized roof rails. Amazing!

RMR also had one of the most talked about cars of the 2008 SEMA show, debuting their new Hyundai Genesis Coupe. It has a carbon fiber body, reminiscent of Mercedes vehicle DTM racecar crossed with a Super GT. Other Hyundais on show at SEMA included Genesis Coupes from HKS, RMR and Street Concepts. The HKS Genesis coupe has a Kenstyle bodykit, making it look as ‘out there’ as its specs are.

The Castrol Syntec Top Shop Challenge also brought out some other auto stars. AMS was the winner beating out the Mercedes vehicle that entered, with their 1000+hp Evo motor.

With an air-to water intercooler, an enormous turbocharger, a special design long tube exhaust manifold fully built internals and dry sump oiling, big figures in the power stakes were unavoidable. One of the best of the best when it come to unique autos in Hong Kong, as well as the rest of the world.

Resources: As one of the world’s most exciting and prestigious brand, Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong offers luxury passenger cars and commercial vehicles extensive choice of Vito, Sprinter, Viano, Actros, Axor and Atego to the customers in Hong Kong and Macau.

Dressing Up Your Mobile Home With Caravan Accessories

After months of searching for the perfect caravan, your own little holiday on wheels, you have finally grabbed yourself a bargain, a shiny 2 berth 15ft 1996 Swift Challenger 480 with end washroom. You have the days booked off work, the route planned for the road and petrol money in the bank. All you need now is to think about buying your caravan accessories. With a number of little extras packed in your mobile home, you can be free to enjoy all the conveniences of everyday life combined with the freedom of life on the road.

To many of us, the idea of throwing a tent in the back of the car and heading off on to the open road, with no itinerary, no reservations, no commitments, is quite frankly exhilarating. However after a few days of eating beans from a pan and washing in nearby lakes and streams, living ‘on the edge’ may start to feel a little daunting as you start to miss your home comforts. Cue the modern day caravan. It’s the campers answer to modern adventure. You get all the benefits of being on the road, with the added luxuries of sleeping under a hard roof and washing in a hot shower. With the extra space to carry additional caravan accessories, you’ll wonder how you ever went without those items that either didn’t fit or plug in to your two man tent. From flat screen TV’s, to barbeques to leisure furniture, there’s a whole market of ‘goodies’ available to make your caravan holiday one to remember.

You may argue that it is not entirely necessary to take a barbeque when you are staying in a luxurious caravan with an oven and grill just waiting to cook your cuisine. However practicality is not the only reason the portable kitchens ooze appeal. Arguably, the taste of flame grilled burgers, sausages and chicken drumsticks is hard to match, as is the sociable atmosphere. Can an oven cooked chicken really compare to the family effort involved when dad grills the meat and the children put together a potato salad and butter the bread rolls? Enjoying a barbeque outside your caravan is quite honestly, all part of the camping experience.

Depending on the size of your party, from a solo traveller to a large family, there are Barbeques to meet any need. Perhaps you may choose a gas flatbed style, with cast iron burners or for smaller parties, you may select a smaller, modern stylish tabletop Gas Barbecue with aluminised burners. If however you are looking for the ultimate all-in-one outdoor cooking convenience, with no holds barred, buy yourself a barbeque built to boil, bake, roast, stir fry and flame grill and make every meal a family effort.

While enjoying the great outdoors, you may also like to indulge in some outdoor furniture as caravan accessories. From quality windbreaks, to folding chairs and tables to inflatable boats and heavy duty outdoor marquees, there is a huge selection of equipment designed to make your life on the road easier. While you have spent valuable money on your caravan and want to get as much use out of it as possible, it’s also fun to spend your time outdoors, especially if you are vacationing during the summer months. Enjoying a bite to eat under the stars or hitting the water in canoes or boats is all part of the eau-natural experience.

Finally for those who still feel they need some homes comforts on the road, a selection of TV’s are available for your caravan. Gone are the days of wiggling around an aerial of an old black and white screen. Consumers can now choose from plasma to widescreen, from top of the range to more budget options. Whether you want to catch an evening movie or just keep up with the local weather and news, you’ll find no shortage of high-tech portable and compact TV’s on the market to entertain you.

Choosing the right caravan is vital to getting the most out of your holiday however choosing the right caravan accessories will only help to complement your choice. Whether you are looking to get as far away from your regular routine or maintain the familiarity of home-life during your vacation, the choice is yours.

Have You Purchased Yours Yet? Your Hybrid Car!

Posted by Racerboy in Cars and Trucks

Hybrid cars have been increasing in popularity in recent years. These cars emit lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars due to less gasoline being burned. Did you pause before you purchased? especially now that fuel economy has soared toward the top of consumers must-have list, folks are racing to buy hybrid vehicles.

Hybrid Cars are rapidly developing in popularity due to several advantages. With these vehicles you can have an electric car or a fuel cell vehicle. Over the long haul the fuel cell auto should be leaps and bounds ahead of the electric car. However that does not mean this will hold true.

There has been a lot of talk about these hybrid cars during these last couple of years especially with the price of oil reaching towards the sky. However this could change very quickly. Especially if the price of oil keeps dropping, and looks like it is probable going to go down at least somewhat more.

Hybrid cars are great in the city and especially in the cities where there is big air pollution problems. Air is one of the big cures that the hybrid vehicle can remedy very quickly. This is why the hybrids are favored by so many. The hybrid vehicles, both the fuel cell and electric vehicles has zero pollution for our air.

On the highways the electric car has a problem with how far it can go until it needs recharging, Although this problem is being decreased on a regular basis. Seems the fuel cell hybrids will work out to be better for at least the longer runs. These autos are actually using the hydrogen fuel , or fuel cell methods.

The hybrid vehicles do have some very distinct advantages over the conventional cars using gasoline or diesel oil. After the initial purchase price these vehicles are a lot more cost effective as far as fuel consumption is concerned. However the initial cost is much higher than the gasoline and diesel engine vehicles. The belief is that within a short time as a lot more of the hybrid cars come into production the price will drop pretty quickly.

With the cussing and discussing of the bailout plan of the auto manufacturers, and not being able to tell which way this debate will go, well, who knows. It is being talked that if the manufacturers receive big money from the government bailout plan, there will be big demands on fuel efficient autos as well as other innovations tied to the coattails of the money.

Another line of thought and seems to be a general consensus that we could be headed into a time of much cheaper oil. Seems the last time this happened, the auto companies went directly back to making the gas guzzlers and sales became very strong. Will this happen again? Hopefully somehow it will be avoided this go round.

Even if we prefer it to be different the hybrid vehicles are seeming to be very unpredictable. Why? with all the savings on fuel etc. Seems no one really knows where we are going with the worldwide economy. It would seem odd that the future of hybrids cars would be unpredictable, since almost everyone is talking about the big pain at the gas pump all the time.

So just how is it that the solution to all of our gas problems has that kind of unpredictable future? That has a lot to do with price. But again no one could predict how much sales have soared in the both the current and past years. Hybrid cars came out in the year 2000. It seems that the hybrids have sold much better than anyone could have predicted in advance.

The question most are now asking, will the sales continue to soar? That is the big question, and it still remains to be answered. So you can do the same as many others. Take a lets wait and see stance, or go ahead and buy a hybrid like so many are doing.
