Losing Weight Is Easy

Posted by Jeffwilliamson in Weight Loss

Many of us battle weight issues and we often feel like we are the only one going through it. I know from experience, I’m a 30 year old male and I have battled weight issues almost all of my life. I have tried fad diets like Atkins and have tried more reasonable diets like Weight Watchers and had success with both, but the one thing I have learned is that there is no magic secret to weight loss, it’s a little hard work and burning more calories than you take in.

There are two keys to burning weight, eating better than you do now, and exercising more than you do now. Notice that I didn’t say you need to “go on a diet” or that you need to “work out every day”, you only need to improve the portion and quality of the food you eat, and you need to be more active than you are on a normal day to day basis.

What worked for me was finding something that I enjoyed doing, like playing basketball and cross country skiing for example. Even playing golf gets you outside and burning calories, especially on those hot summer days. If you’ve ever seen my golf swing you’ll know that I burn a few extra calories fishing balls out of the water and exploring through trees to find my lost one.

Unless you are training to be the next Mr. Olympia, you don’t need to hit the gym every day or spend 2-3 hours there, you need to get up off the couch, you need to walk, run, jog, play fetch with the dog, chase the kids around the yard, whatever you like to do that burns calories in the process. Need to do some work around the house? That qualifies! Anyone who has scraped paint off a deck knows you burn more calories than 30 minutes on a boring treadmill I can assure you.

For diet you just need to focus on two things, the foods you eat and the portions at which you eat them. Do you eat out more than twice a week? Try cutting back one night. Do you tend to eat extra large portions? Try eating a medium size portion and eat more later if you are still hungry. Many people would be surprised at the difference between “need to eat” and “want to eat”. Most of us over eat because the food tastes good, not because we are starving and need nourishment.

When it all boils down, you can lose a good amount of weight making very small, easy adjustments and you don’t need a fad crash diet, you don’t need an expensive gym or personal trainer, and you don’t need to struggle on a painful diet. If your diet is painful and makes you depressed, find another one that works for you. Do some research, there are many options that will give you the weight loss results you have always wanted.

5 Ways To Improve Your Weight Loss

Posted by Getanabolics in Weight Loss

The weight loss effort is all about ensuring that the body is permanently healthy and free from being disease prone. There are a variety of diseases that are known to thrive in unhealthy persons including various cancers, diabetes and heart conditions. If you can be able to mitigate the risk of suffering from such ailments then you will appreciate that the hour-glass shape and the well-toned body are just extras that come with the health package. How then can you lose nagging and excess body weight? Consider the suggestion below:

Reducing the amount of junk food. By cutting down the volume of junk food that you eat then you are not only on the path of acquiring a manageable weight but you are also on the path to better health. Junk food consists of the unhealthy foods that are widely available. They are appealing due to their appetizing tastes but they are just that…great tasting. Indulging in excessive quantities of these will definitely have a negative impact on your health. These foods are high in unhealthy fats and sugars and don’t provide nutritional content that can develop your body. Cut down on the highly-processed foods like crisps, chocolates, carbonated drinks and cakes and your body will be much healthier.

Increase your exercise frequency. You should make effort to add exercise to your day-to-day activities albeit in small quantities; a simple walk for at least thirty minutes will be the perfect beginning. It does not also mean that you have to dedicate extra time to an already time-constrained day. Be innovative. You can decide to walk home from the office instead of driving or taking the bus. On your way home you will find that you may find therapeutic comfort from the fresh air and the singing birds.

Keep the body hydrated by drinking enough water. It is vital that one drinks lots of water on a daily basis. Don’t drink just enough to flush off the toxins, drink enough to keep the body fit and healthy at the same time. This is helpful to avoid the tendency to gorge while eating. Start your day by drinking a glassful of water. This will activate your digestive juices and prepare the insides for the day. After taking water it is then okay for you to proceed with breakfast. Approximately 70% of the body is composed of water. It makes perfect sense therefore that you drink enough water.

Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are some of the best foods that you can use to manage your weight. Make a point of increasing the amount of vegetables and fruits in your diet; you can start by ensuring that salads are always present in your meals.

Increase your intake of fiber. The body needs lots of fiber to optimize the manner in which it processes the food you eat. Fibers also add to your vitality and energy. In addition to fruits and vegetables you should add items like whole-meal bread and pasta.

Is Rapid Weight Loss Good Or Bad?

Posted by Hehnis in Weight Loss

No-one denies that we live in a world where looks seem to take priority over any other human quality, and while some get it by nature, some strive hard to get it instantly.

While we may live in an image obsessed world, where looking good is essential, this is not always easy to trust and while there are many individuals that carry this off naturally numerous others want this to come about immediately.

Impatience is not a positive trait and having the ideal body without the normal pain that goes with this means that it is not always appreciated. Perhaps swift weight loss is what these individuals are looking for, the longevity and effectiveness of which is highly overrated.

There is still much discussion about the usefulness of these fast weight reduction schemes according to available studies. People agree that these rapid weight loss programs can never be completely relied upon, as the individual starts to gain weight soon after stopping the program.

According to research facts, people prescribed these reduced calorie/carbohydrate diets soon get bored and quickly return to their old dieting habits. Current scientific studies are also showing that there is every chance that in the majority of case, it is in fact water that is being lost from the system and not body fat.

When the body is deprived of water, it can result in fundamental harm to the body, but then, it can be replenished fast also, hence there was never any weight loss to begin with.

Despite these claims it is not very likely that a person a diet such as this will lose more than 2 pounds of body fat per week but there is a very real threat from problems associated with losing large quantities of water from the body. One of the latest fads brought out to the weight reduction market is the swift weight loss soap, containing herbs and seaweed, which evidently reduces the body fat while the user is scrubbing it against the body.

Of course, it can do wonders to the skin with the help of the elements, but there has been no research done, to show that it can really consume body fat, on merely scrubbing. Frankly, you will find a fresh product brought out every day, which promises rapid weight reduction by stimulating the body’s metabolism and curbing appetite simultaneously.

In addition, the makers even claim that wearing magnetic jewelry will trigger body’s natural healing capacity and is also a pain suppressor, but the claims, regrettably sound as if the product is a fashion accessory more than anything else. According to merchandising claims, magnets have a good impact on the magnetic balance of the individual, over and above several other advantages, as mentioned earlier.

Still, till date there has been no validation of these tall claims ever submitted to any medical journal other than a few aggressive press releases. In life, there is no gain, where there is no pain, and there is nothing truer than this saying when it concerns fast weight loss, as it is inevitably followed swift weight gain as well.

There are no magic pills or quick-fix diets that will drop those pounds for you. There are, however, simple strategies that you can work into your daily activities that will get you on the road to lasting weight loss now.

1. What worked can work again: If you’re one of the millions of people who have tried to lose weight before, then even though it has not been successful, chances are there were techniques that worked too. Examine those patterns and techniques and pick out the ones that worked because they’ll be sure to work again.

2. Road map to weight loss success: This is a road you’re taking towards your weight loss goals. Hence, you need a good map. Note down your goals for every week - just gradual changes so you don’t overwhelm yourself - and carry each week’s goal to the next week and so on.

3. Watching fewer TV programs: Watching TV is more likely to lead to obesity than any other sedentary activities. That’s because it’s associated with lower energy expenditure and people tend to eat more when they’re in front of the TV. Try watching one program less or stand up and find something else to do during commercials.

4. Playful ways to exercise: Don’t view workouts as work, view them as fun. There are many ways to exercise that you don’t have to resign yourself to workouts you hate. Explore playful ways to be active, or skip indoor social plans and have outdoor social activities instead.

5. A habit you can kick: You will sometimes find yourself craving for some after-dinner treats, especially when you’re just starting out. Distract yourself when craving strikes - pamper yourself, go for a walk, brush your teeth, or go to bed early. Remember that it’s a habit you can kick, not some addiction you’re hooked to.

6. Taking time to eat: Most overweight people tend to be fast eaters. Eating fast doesn’t give your body time to tell you that you might have eaten enough, which it does some 20 minutes later. Eat slowly and calmly. Take frequent sips of water, put your spoon and fork down after every bite, and converse if you’re with someone.

7. Serving individual courses: Instead of putting everything on your plate, serve the meal courses individually. Start with soup or vegetable salad. When the main meal or dessert is served, you won’t feel like eating as much.

8. Calories you might have missed: Watch out for spreads, dressings, sauces, condiments, drinks, snacks, and dips because they, too, have calories and those calories count. Substitute them with sauces or seasonings that have fewer calories and less fat.

These fast weight loss tips will help you ease into losing weight so that you can be on your way to achieving your goals with a plan that knows what you need. Remember fast weight loss tips don’t mean crash diets or stressful exercises.

Obesity is a problem that is becoming more and more prevalent in society today. It is a problem that brings about many health risks, as well as cultivating feelings of insecurity and low self-esteem among those who suffer from this problem. For teenagers who have this problem, it is more so.

A low self-esteem and self-confidence can be more damaging to a teen than it would be for a teenager, because the teenage years is that period of time in our lives wherein we acquire social circles with which to move in and friends with which to interact. And the sad reality is, obesity can get in the way of becoming successful with these because it is a problem that is criticized and is less-than-acceptable to society. This is why this problem, particularly for teens, need to be addressed immediately. Nowadays, more parents do this by enrolling their teenage children in a weight camp.

Weight camp for teens: just like summer camp?
A weight camp for teens is like a summer camp in the sense that there are activities and programs that people in the teenage years would be inclined to participate in. The only difference between the two is that the activities and programs that a weight camp offers is geared mainly towards losing weight.

The fact that you would lose weight is a motivation in itself, but who would want to feel that he/she is losing weight? Many people yearn for an activity that would allow them to lose weight without being made to feel of the effort to do so. This is particularly true for teens, because at their age they want what a typical teen wants: have fun. Good weight camps for teens make sure that they are able to help teens lose weight without letting them feel that they are doing so. As such, the activities that they offer are sports and workouts that teenagers typically adhere to, so that your teen will have fun while losing weight. A weight camp is a win-win endeavor, if one thinks about it.

A weight camp will also pave the way for your teen to feel that he is not alone with his problem by allowing him to socialize with other kids his age, who suffer from the same problem as he does. This will help your kid attain self-confidence and understanding, as well as acquire friends.

A good weight camp for teens also offer dietary plans consisting of meals that would aid them in losing weight. This does not mean that the meals would not be tasty, but you can be assured that it veers off from fat.

Weight camp: Should you enroll your teen in one?
The answer is a resounding yes. Why? Because for teens, a weight camp has significant advantages over other methods of weight loss. For one, a weight camps goal is to ensure that your teen knows how to maintain a healthy lifestyle even after the weight camp has ended. Thus, your teens will be taught of what consists a proper dietary meal, and the importance of participating in physical activities. There are also discussions and programs geared towards this effect. Put simply, they encourage kids to not only take part in a healthier lifestyle, but to want to take part in it.

Indeed, a weight camp is a place where your teen can lose weight, gain friends, and develop self-esteem and self-confidence. What more could a parent ask for?
