Are You Looking For A Free Reverse Cell Phone Directory?

Posted by MikeHickmon in Free Tools and Resources

A common question that people have is whether or not a free reverse cell phone directory actually exists on the Internet. Sadly, the answer is no. If you’re looking for a complete, accurate guaranteed reverse cell phone directory, than there are a small handful that do a good job.

As you look for a free reverse cell phone directory, you will find that some pseudo-directories promise to allow free cell phone lookups. The facts show that they are really just sites that allow you to lookup the carrier or issuing location of a phone number and not the owner.

So Then Why Isn’t There a Free Reverse Cell Phone Directory?

Once people realize there is no such thing as a free reverse cell phone directory, the big question is - why not? After all, there are plenty of free reverse lookup sites for landline numbers. So then, what’s the difference?

Well, the difference is how the information is classified. Home telephone number’s are considered public domain information and have been for decades. That is why no one has to ask for your permission to publish your number in the telephone book. In fact, sometimes you need to pay a fee to keep your name out of phone books (i.e., to keep it unlisted or non-published).

Cell phone numbers are generally more private. With private numbers you are billed for every call you receive, including telemarketers you don’t want to talk to. That’s why cell phone numbers are typically harder to track down.

Wireless 411 Phone Directory

Awhile back, there was talk about putting together a reverse cell phone directory. With this Directory, all of the different cell phone service providers would contribute their numbers, and the directory would be made available. However, the concern with regard to telemarketers and privacy caused the idea to be abandoned.

That does not mean that putting together a reverse cell phone directory is impossible. The truth is, it can be done, and has been done. This however, requires allot of effort, since the information has to be compiled manually from millions of different records. Because it requires so much work, no one has been able to offer this service for free. In addition, most reverse cell phone directory providers who charge a fee simply do not have access to complete information databases.

Finding The Best Service

There are a just few reverse phone search companies who stand out as having very comprehensive and accurate reverse phone search databases. The problem here is how to find the best reverse cell phone directory. There are many repeatable review sites that offer very detailed reviews to help you in your search for the best service. Compare a few to gauge which service will be the best. After which, you are ready to start searching.

So while there is no true free reverse cell phone directory on the Internet, there are paid search directories that can give you all of the information that you need.

I truly hope that this information was helpful. Happy searching. :)

Free Tutorials & Photo Search Online

Posted by Konradbraun in Free Tools and Resources

You don’t have to be a genius, a trendy up-to-date teen or technologically advanced to figure out how to do certain things online or how to work that new piece of software you just bought. You just have to know where to look! There are billions of tutorials for billions of programs and software out there today. Another thing tutorials are good for is if your building a new website, and say, you want to figure out how to put animations on your site or you don’t have a clue as to how a navigation bar/menu works but you want to put one on your website.

Tutorials are built specifically to show you how to do these things. They teach you how to do something with in a program or how to work the program itself. Just as an example so you can actually see how many people use and or need tutorials, if your go to Google and search “free tutorials”, you will see pages upon pages of sites that offer these things.

These tutorials have easy to follow instructions, and sometimes even movies or illustrations to help you further. Say for instance I just built a really cool gaming website, and I want to figure out how to make my Title into a really neat font so that it “fits” with the style of my website. There are tutorials online that will help me do this. I just have to find the site where the tutorial is, and look up something like “text effects” or “font effects.” Usually with in that category I will find a whole bunch of different fonts that are stylized in a certain way.

You can really find anything your searching for, the sky is the limit on this one. Gold etched, Flower text, Warped text effect, Glow ring, Fire, etc. Obviously they don’t just offer text effects, here are some more options these sites will probably offer, tutorial wise:

3D Effects
Brushes
Buttons & Interfaces
Colors
Filters
Photo Editing
Poster & Ad Design
Web Layouts
Icon Creation
Forum Sigs
and more!

Speaking of Photo’s and layouts, there are also a lot of sites online that offer photographs, for free. I’m always looking for things like this because I have a website online where I’m constantly in need of pictures of food and drink items. You can use these photographs completely free of charge and in some instances they aren’t even copy written, so you can use them in whatever way you want to.

There’s a few websites I know about in particular that have anywhere from 500-15,000 photos you can use, and they are directly on the website. All you have to do is a quick search and you find everything you need. You can use these as pictures with in a layout for web design options, on your website, your blog, etc.

All you have to do is either download the photo directly to your hard drive (put it somewhere you can find it) or it will open in a new window for you and you can just right click the picture, goto properties, and find the property url. Either way this is an incredibly easy, fast, and convenient way to find the pictures you need online.

The Great Escape - A Personal Experience Of Unwrapping Toys

Posted by Vgevge in Free Tools and Resources

Have you ever tried to extract a modern toy from its packaging? I remember when you were lucky enough to be given a paper bag to carry your toy home in, but nowadays it seems like the manufacturers have made every possible effort to ensure that the toys remain as surely locked into their cardboard prisons as possible, and you need a good level of skill in DIY or lock picking to get to the things.

Coupled with the incessant screaming of an anxious child who doesn’t understand why you won’t let him have the toy you just gave him, it becomes a desperate race to free the plasticized creature that’s looking at you with a faint hint of a jeer in its eyes. Your reputation as a parent is on the line; everything you’ve ever done, all that you have achieved and every word ever spoken softly as you laid them gently in their bed, safe again at the end of the day, is nothing. This is the moment. Can you remove the toy from its packaging, and your time… starts now!

To begin with, you confidently flip open the flaps at each side, and all seems well. Then you realize that the flaps don’t actually achieve any further level of access, and they stick out like absurd wings, achieving nothing more in their open state than that they seemed to when tucked in. You wonder why the manufacturers bother, and a quiet murmur escapes your lips as you comment on the point of them. Then you notice the tape strapped across the main flap, and a hurried search through the kitchen drawer reveals a pair of scissors, and you begin hacking away at the tape, almost sensing the relief as you are about to achieve the ultimate escape. The main flap pops open, and like a magic trick of origami in reverse, the packaging falls open. The child cheers, the victory is yours.

Except that, despite the packaging being open, there seems to be a distinct lack of toy falling gently into your lap. Metal wires are twisted around the toy’s legs. No problem - you start twisting away, smiling cheerily at your child as you wonder if their hopeful eyes could get any bigger. You start twisting the wire the correct way, actually undoing it rather than tightening it. You free its leg, then the other leg, then its arm, its other arm, its waist, its neck. You wonder just exactly what the manufacturers of the packaging did for a career before they entered the toy industry, and images of dark damp dungeons and thumbscrews spring eerily to your mind.

As the last length of wire drops happily out of the box, you reach for the toy, grasp it firmly, and pull it from the box. Yet you suspect something is wrong. It seems to be magically refusing to leave the home it has known for so long, and which looks likely to be for a good deal longer. You look - the wires have all gone, there seems to be no more tape - what is wrong with it?

Your caveman instinct starts to kick in, and you begin tearing away at the cardboard, forgetting all thoughts of keeping the packaging intact in case it needs to be returned. In a frenzy of desperation you tear bigger and bigger chunks of cardboard from the creature’s cage as though in fear of it suffocating you shouldn’t hurry. Your child begins bouncing in a curiously worrying way. You don’t even notice the cut on your hand as the plastic window of the box springs free and slices across your first two fingers.

The thing’s feet are actually screwed to the base! Can you believe it? Two screw heads, embedded firmly into the cavity of its insoles are welding it to the remainder of the box. In blind panic you stagger through to the kitchen and rustle through the drawer again, inflicting more cuts and scratches on your hand as you casually brush aside the potato slicer and paring knife to find a screwdriver - but it’s a flathead, and the wrong size. You collapse back down on the floor, all eyes in the room following your every move, the child now dancing from foot to foot whining about wanting his toy, as though this is all somehow your fault. You wedge the corner of the screwdriver into the screw head, and force it to turn, extracting further chunks of flesh from your hand as it slips and slides its way round in small stages.

Eventually, somehow, the creature plops casually out of its packaging, and is gleefully lifted high by the victorious child. You collapse back, near sobbing, blood pouring from your hands, sweat dripping from your brow as you survey the devastation around you. Your child seems to be displeased though - and is holding the toy towards you. What now?

Of course, it needs batteries. It didn’t come with batteries. You’re up again.

More Efficient Mail With US Zip Codes

Posted by WMMedia in Free Tools and Resources

Zip codes are used by the US Postal Service to make mail delivery more efficient. The basic format of US zip codes consists of five numbers. The first three numbers represent the sectional center facility and the other digits represent the older postal code for a specific state or city. The process of using postal coded for US cities came into effect in 1943, but in 1963, zip codes came into use for the whole country.

The sectional center facility part of the zip code is the center for processing the mail. Here the mail is sorted according to the first three digits of the zip code and sent to the respective centers in each location. These digits identify the centers all over the country. In the individual centers, the mail is then sorted according to the last three digits and sent to the post offices where the addressees pick up their mail. Sectional centers do not deliver mail and are not open to the public.

Up until 1967, second and third class mail did not require a zip code. After that date however, it became mandatory for all mail to have the proper zip code in the address. In 1983, the US further expanded the zip code feature making it the Zip Code + 4. These four digits were then used to identify a specific geographical area. In the SCF, a machine identifies the zip code and sorts the mail so that it goes to the correct post office.

Today the first digits of the zip code identify the state or SCF. The second and third digits identify a region of the state and the fourth and fifth numbers identify a specific address in that region. The main town gets the zip code and then the surrounding towns follow in numerical order.

The allocation of the first number in the zip code is as follows:
- 0 - Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, US Virgin Islands, Army Post Europe, Fleet Post Office Europe
- 1 - Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York
- 2 - District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia
- 3 - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Army Post Office Americas, Fleet Post Office Americas
- 4 - Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio
- 5 - Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin
- 6 - Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska
- 7 - Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana
- 8 - Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming
- 9 - Alaska, American Samoa, California, Guam, Hawaii, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Palau, Washington, Army Post Office Pacific, and the Fleet Post Office Pacific.

The zip codes can also be divided and changed when a rural area becomes a suburb of a larger city. The new codes become effective once they are announced, but there is a grace period to allow the residents to get used to their new zip code. When a city expands so that the sectional facility cannot handle all the mail coming through it, it is sometimes necessary to open a new facility, which then receives its own number. This also changes the zip code for the people living in that area.

How To Obtain Free Web Site Promotion

So your website is finished and your introduction to your company and what you have on offer have been presented. Your intentions and promotions have been added to draw the attention of your target audience and you are spot on with the dos and don’ts of how to construct your company’s website. So why oh why isn’t your website as successful as you had hoped it would be?

It’s possible that you are overlooking the key to the best way to promote your site so here are some helpful tips on how to obtain free website promotions to ensure your company goes from strength to strength.

If the promotion of your website has already started you need to keep this at a constant level. If you persevere this it is sure to catch the attention of your audience.

Patience is a virtue (so they say) so try each process in the promotion field until you obtain the very best free options there are available. After all, it is trial and error which will eventually get you to the top of your game.

There are so many ways for your site to be visible. Until you find out which are the most successful here are a few free website promotions you can try

* Search engines and directories are forms of free promotions which will drive traffic to your site. Keep an eye on the ranking of your website and you will discover whether or not this particular free promotion method is the right one for your business.

*Trading links with other websites is particularly helpful to all involved as long as the sites are related in some way, and the links are made up of words which will attract an interested audience.

*Free classified ads can increase the promotion of your web site. These will pick up people who you are not specifically targeting but who may well have an interest in the services you have to offer.

*Low cost and free banners are displayed all over the Internet and pop up in a separate window or at the top of a page and these repeatedly grab hold of the reader and draw them to your site.

If, after putting some or all of these free promotion strategies into play, you find things are still not working out as they should be, you really need to take a look at, and completely analyze your site. Track down all of the visitors, ads and communications and establish where the errors are on your website. Make sure you upload new files on a regular and continuous basis to encourage your audience to keep coming back for more and then go through the above mentioned methods again to see if it will work this time round.

How many times have you heard it said that the best things in life are free? Well, this is very true and you will appreciate this when your free website promotion proves its worth to the audience and your business becomes the success you always dreamed about.
