Does Fertility Treatment Work Always?

Posted by Hehnis in Alternative Medicine

It can take some time to recuperate both physically and emotionally if the fertility treatment you’re using doesn’t work and you have to try over again. Frequently if you have built up your hopes and gone through all the stress of intervention it can affect you terribly if it is unsuccessful. Many experts suggest that you wait for a couple of months before trying once more, which gives you a break from the stress of treatment and a chance for your body to regain strength.

You may find that a new intervention method will give you a greater chance of success and that they are other things you can do to better the state of affairs but speak to your gynecologist about this first. Visiting a counselor can also help you to talk through your feelings.

It is an regrettable fact but many embryos are lost during a pregnancy through miscarriage whether by natural becoming pregnant or assisted. Under normal conditions you may just think you were experiencing a late menstrual cycle as opposed to a spontaneous abortion. When you are receiving fertility intervention however, you are more acutely conscious of the fact that a fertilized egg located inside you hasn’t implanted and that you have miscarried.

At some stage you may decide that you no longer want to try further fertility treatment whether it is after your first try or 10th. The grounds behind this decision to cease fertility intervention may be financial or emotional and it might also be because your consultant believes there is little chance of conception in the foreseeable future. Alternatively, you may just believe that enough is enough and you just want to get on with your life.

The decision to cease must be yours though, and not taken because there was pressing from outside that made you feel that you haven’t tried hard enough or that you have not been successful. Of course, it need not mean giving up all hope of having children - you may wish to research the possibility of other alternatives, such as adopting and fostering. The only decision that matters is the one that you ultimately make, fits your circumstances and your feelings. It’s often helpful to talk to a counselor, or to other people who have been in a similar state of affairs, as you come to the decision about how you can best move on. There are organisations which can provide help for individuals who are exploring what life without kids has to offer.

Remember to take it a step at a time and don’t let fear stop you whether it’s to continue with intervention or not. It is easy to believe that everyone close to you will understand what you are going through but this is not always the case and oftentimes people close to you can say the wrong things by chance and not even know that they have hurt your feelings. Only you can select a way of handling with the state of affairs but hopefully in such a way that they will get the message that they have hurt you and nor really thought about your feelings.

The Healing Power Of Music

Posted by Datepad in Alternative Medicine

The latest study shows that music has far more healing properties than was once suggested. A recent study wherein chronically ill patients, both men and women, were given music as a form of complementary and alternative therapy during their long recovery stay in hospital, show significant health benefits.

Both men and women were given 15 minutes of music therapy, with a musician on a portable keyboard playing softly by their side. Each patient was given the option of choosing the type of music they preferred.

Each day the music changed but not the type of music they liked; for instance if someone liked classical music, then each day classical music was played but a different song was played every day.

If someone liked rock music, then they were asked if there was a specific song they wanted to hear and the next day the patient had the option of choosing another song. In this way, the study wanted to show that it does not matter what type of music is played. It was completely left to the discretion and taste of the patient.

The study found that each patient was in a better mood overall. They looked forward to their daily music therapy; they experienced less pain and an increase in emotional stability.

The patient’s were monitored during the music therapy, which concluded that each patient experienced an even heart rate and reduction in blood pressure consistently throughout the program.
Another group agreed to take part in the study on a long-term basis of more than 6 weeks. Some of the long-term benefits included a decrease in medication, earlier release from hospital, more restful sleep and stable heart rate.

It’s not surprising that music can have such a profound effect on our overall health but the study was surprising in how significant and positive the results were.

When we live in an age wherein we are always trying to find a new pharmaceutical drug to control an ailment, it’s nice to know that something as simple and pure as music, which is readily available and economical, can have such a significant impact on an individual’s overall state of well being.

The benefits of music makes no distinction between age and ailment, color or race. We all have some form of music that we enjoy and uplift our spirits.

Music has always played an important role in society and in man’s conscious evolution. Think of the great classical composers such as Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, and how their music helped to define an era yet still is just as poignant and powerful as it was the day they composed it.

Music remains with man throughout the ages and it’s not just for pleasure any longer. Its health benefits are clear and measures should be taken to ensure that music plays a significant role in the healing arts.

The study did not say whether the will continue to pursue music therapy with other hospitals. I am sure that they need more funding in the future to ensure that this mode of therapy continues and will one day be included as a standard offering for chronic or all patients in hospitals.

Understanding Physical And Emotional Trauma

Posted by Datepad in Alternative Medicine

Emotional trauma occurs to everyone however not everyone reacts to trauma the same way. A trauma is something that can occur as an injury such as a sporting injury like a concussion, or an emotional trauma, such as the loss of a loved one, separation or divorce.

Many people react differently and will try to combat it in different ways. The one thing that remains the same is the feeling from the emotion that it precipitates. Everyone will feel pain if they hurt their foot, however, people will have a different threshold to pain and will experience different intensities.

An emotional trauma or hurt can be for a long duration or can last for a very short time, it all depends how equipped the individual is to handle the nature of the trauma they have sustained. Do they have a sufficient and appropriate support group, family and friends to help them? Many factors come into play here but it is essential that an individual feel nurtured and taken care of during times of stress and trauma.

Trauma will always provide a ’shock’ to the system and it is this shock that needs to be obliterated from the system in order that it does not linger and eventually cause further states of disease within the person, such as a chronic depression or chronic headaches after a concussion.

Many forms of treatment include suppressive medicines, which initially help to calm down the nervous system and reduce swelling. Once a sufficient amount of control over the trauma has been gained, it would be appropriate to then commence a natural form of therapy in order to ensure that the trauma has been healed and will not linger within the individual’s state of mind or physical body.

Drugs such as anti-depressants, although at times necessary, do not determine the root cause of the problem and only masks the intensity of emotions that an individual can be experiencing. Many types of these drugs can be addictive and habit forming. Individuals feel ‘lost’ without their medication and really never do heal the issues at hand.

The difficulty lies in being able to help an individual through a difficult time and then help to maintain a healthy state of balance without addictive and habit forming drugs whether it be for mental or physical pain.

Studies show that healing the ‘trauma’ of the wound: i.e. fright, anger, sadness through cognitive therapy, nurture and support quickly reduces the intensity and duration of the trauma. Again, every individual will require different techniques and require different lengths of time for their therapy before they are well again.

In many cases, one trauma is only there as a cover up of a deeper, older and more significant trauma experienced during childhood such as abandonment, death of a parent, sexual or physical abuse.

This is well understood and acknowledged within the psychoanalytic community to understand the intricacies and importance of proper psychotherapy for individuals experiencing trauma.

Therefore, any trauma mild or severe, should be taken very seriously and ensure that proper rest, medicine and therapy are provided for in order to allow an individual’s complete recovery.

Weight Loss Miracle - Hypnosis CDs Plus The Zone Diet

Posted by Alanden in Alternative Medicine

The Zone diet is a weight loss program that pays close attention to food intake and physical activity to achieve weight loss. It is a lifestyle-changing plan to help people lose pounds and get in better physical condition. The key part of this diet plan is the food plan developed by the scientist, Dr. Barry Sears.

The scientific theory of the diet looks at the impact of carbohydrates on the body’s insulin levels. Eating too many carbohydrates causes the body’s blood sugar levels to rise sharply, which causes the body to secrete insulin, a hormone that lowers blood sugar levels by storing the sugar as fat. It is thought that by consuming the right foods, blood sugar levels can be controlled to keep insulin levels in “the zone,” a range where the body burns more fat and stops storing excessive fat.

The diet plan balances carbohydrate and protein consumption in a three to four ratio, meaning 30% of your calories will come from protein and 40% from carbohydrates (another 30% typically comes from fat). It is important to count calories on the Zone program, with most meals being no more than five hundred calories each and snacks around one hundred calories each.

Under the diet plan, you eat five times each day (three meals and two snacks), never going more than five hours without consuming food. If you get eight hours of sleep every night, this means having breakfast within one hour of waking up, lunch within five hours of breakfast, a snack within five hours of lunch, dinner within two or three hours of your snack, and a final snack just before bedtime.

The majority of foods consumed on the Zone program include lean meats, such as chicken or fish and other sources of protein, plenty of fruits and vegetables, and a small amount of carbohydrates. Rice, sugar, potatoes, breads, and cereals are the kinds of carbohydrate rich foods that dieters should avoid eating, but can eat occasionally. Dieters must also avoid processed foods and food with a high sodium content.

Physical activity is another important component of the Zone diet. The diet recommends moderate intensity physical exercise for thirty minutes every day, six days per week. Physical activity is supposed to enhance the effectiveness of the Zone program. Other enhancements to the diet include taking vitamins and nutritional supplements.

The Zone diet is ideal for many people, but it takes a big commitment. The reason why this program and most other diet programs do not work is because many dieters give up before they are able to see results. Many people fight to stick with any type of diet plan because of food cravings, out-of-control appetites or eating habits, or a lack the motivation to lose weight. Hypnotherapy is perfect for overcoming these issues and providing the motivation to stay committed to a diet like the Zone diet program.

Hypnosis is frequently used with dieting because it does a lot to increase the effectiveness and success rate of diets. Among the many things that hypnosis programs do is help promote positive thinking, especially to counter negative thoughts. Hypnosis is a powerful stress-relieving tool as well, helping us cope with our stressful emotions and relieve tension. As a stress-relieving tool, it calms the mind, helps you develop strategies to manage stress, and increases your self-confidence to motivate you to lose weight.

Weight loss hypnotherapy can also be used to directly treat the mental obstacles that keep people from losing weight. Take for instance those who can’t control their cravings and appetite because they struggle with “emotional eating.” People who are emotional eaters compulsively eat in response to their feelings, such as when they are angry or sad. Hypnosis can be used to break the associations in our unconscious minds between eating and our feelings. This way, people do not have to struggle with overeating and are able to stay committed to complex diet programs such as the Zone diet plan.

Motivational hypnosis has become an extremely popular and successful weight loss aid to use with weight loss programs because motivation is the key to success for most people. A good hypnosis CD program works by tapping into the power of the unconscious mind to naturally train our thoughts on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These programs help people remember their reasons for wanting to lose weight and exercise so dieters automatically feel motivated to stay with their weight loss program.

Hypnosis is an effective motivational tool that will help you “stay in the zone,” stay active, and experience natural appetite suppression without drugs. Through using hypnosis, we can think more positively and focus on improving our health.

Overcome The Depression That Accompanies CHF

Posted by Alanden in Alternative Medicine

Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is one of the most common chronic health conditions in America. Nearly five million people suffer from this disease, and half a million more develop CHF every year. This condition can be mild, or it can become quite severe and impair daily living.

People with CHF have numerous deviations from their previous daily activities. They must take medications to relieve water buildup and to lessen the work performed by their heart muscle. Many of these cause anxiety and exhaustion. These drugs can also impair physical relationships with a life partner.

Another struggle that people with CHF encounter is the need for significant diet changes. Many must quit eating beef, avoid foods high in fat or sodium, or limit the amount of fluids they consume every day. These people are encouraged to diet and work to stay as healthy as they can.

Unfortunately, however, individuals with congestive heart failure no longer have as much physical endurance as they previously did. Instead, they must watch as friends and relatives play tennis, run, or work out. This results in despair and inadequacy. Furthermore, many victims mourn their loss of physical strength and wellness.

Many individuals who experience this and are not yet of retirement age must also quit working. As well as creating money problems and anxiety, this may worsen feelings of separation and seclusion. They are completely alone. Rather than of bantering with the person at the next workspace, they stare at the television while their friends continue living.

At times, sufferers take depression or anti-anxiety medications to manage these issues. Alternatively, people may choose psychotherapy or group treatment to help them with fulfilling belongingness needs and processing the grief created through their newly changed lifestyles.

A better way of coping with this kind of depression, however, has achieved recent recognition and gained almost immediate popularity with persons who have trialed it. Additionally, unlike medications or psychotherapy, this approach is quite economical. Clients are able to learn its use without experiencing additional money stresses.

This approach, which involves a combination of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), assists individuals to begin to become calm and find harmony and serenity in their daily lives. These strategies assist people to acknowledge the new restrictions in their lives while instructing them to go on living life as completely as possible. Even depression that occurs because of drugs can be painlessly treated with the successful application of the methods utilized by hypnotherapy and NLP. Two such strategies are anchoring and the Flash.

Ericksonian Hypnotherapy is usually known as conversational hypnotherapy. It includes methods for supplying post-hypnotic suggestions rooted in a conversation or figure of speech. The benefit of this technique is that it eliminates the subconscious opposition to direct suggestions that is almost always encountered when using more conventional types of hypnotherapy.

Through anchoring, hypnotists and NLP Practitioners teach people to concentrate on happy thoughts and situations from the past in which they felt relaxed and capable. As the client becomes immersed in these recollections, they can re-experience those positive feelings. The client then creates a concrete anchor for these emotions by placing two fingers together. The unconscious mind creates a link between the actual touch of the two fingers, and the positive emotions. Later, upon encountering an anxiety-producing or upsetting situation, an anchor is elicited through placing together these same two fingers, evoking feelings of peace and calm.

The Flash technique is also quite helpful to people who are struggling to conquer depression. This approach programs the brain to automatically use those negative thoughts that are creating stress and depression, as triggers for beneficial thoughts that stimulate relaxation and happiness. Over time, clients usually become almost unable to think negative thoughts!

Summary: People with congestive heart failure typically experience depression as a result of mourning over loss of their physical health and well-being. Other elements that can contribute to depression are medications and financial stresses. Both Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP provide excellent strategies for helping individuals to cope with depression without being forced to spend enormous quantities of time and money.

Tired Of Lying Awake? You Can Cure Your Own Insomnia

Posted by Alanden in Alternative Medicine

Sleep is required for the body to work properly, mature, and heal after being injured. Most studies recommend that adults need between six and eight hours of sleep nightly. A number of people, however, are unable to do this. Up to 20 million Americans alone have serious struggles sleeping every night.

Several elements that create sleep disorders are responsible for this startling fact. For instance, a large number of people snore. Deep snoring sometimes can cause sleeping persons to wake, in a start, by this noise. Additionally, people with a spouse that is a loud snorer often have trouble sleeping with such a racket occurring in the same room!

Snoring may also be indicative of a similar sleeping disorder called sleep apnea. This problem can happen when an individual stops breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea is sometimes from blockages in the nose and sinus passages, or as a result of being overweight. This problem is potentially deadly, and persons who are diagnosed with sleep apnea usually wear a mask that delivers pressurized air to their lungs while they are sleeping.

Sleep apnea may cause narcolepsy, a different sleeping disturbance. At times, however, people who do not suffer from sleep apnea may develop narcolepsy. Persons who have this problem often go to sleep unexpectedly and without warning in any place or at any time. If a person is being treated for this problem, the physician typically prescribes that patient to refrain from driving before the problem is being treated effectively; going to sleep while driving is extremely hazardous!

Another potentially dangerous sleeping problem is called sleepwalking, and is also described referred to in medical literature as somnambulism. Persons who sleepwalk engage in the identical activities - cleaning house, taking a shower, climbing stairs, et cetera - that they do while they are awake. Nearly one-fifth of the population worldwide may sleepwalk.

In some instances, people have even been reported to have left their homes or committed murder while sleepwalking! Most often, however, the person who is sleepwalking is in much more danger than the persons around him or her. The recommended course of action is to get the individual back to bed.

Another problem called shift work sleep disorder is sometimes reported by individuals whose work schedule involves alternating shift schedules, afternoon, or night shifts. This condition can result in one of two categories of sleep difficulties: excessive tiredness, or insomnia. Moreover, people who suffer from this disorder experience higher likelihood of cancer than individuals who do not have it.

Persons diagnosed with insomnia often have trouble falling asleep at bedtime. In the event that they are able to go to sleep, they typically cannot sleep soundly and are awakened easily. They might only sleep several hours before experiencing this disturbance.

The consequences of insomnia are feeling sleepy during the day and decreased physical functioning. Despite the fact that individuals who suffer from insomnia frequently feel sleepy, however, those who suffer from chronic insomnia often realize that they are perpetually overly alert, and cannot easily relax or remain calm. Other potential side effects of insomnia are physical and emotional fatigue.

Many people believe they know how to treat insomnia. Some of these include some odd home remedies for insomnia. One such cure is a concoction of burnt cinnamon in hot water, although there is no concrete evidence demonstrating that this mixture, or insomnia hypnotherapy. Professionals who use insomnia hypnosis help sufferers to develop beneficial sleep routines by teaching a group of suggestive thoughts that will allow them to get to sleep with less difficulty. People are taught the skills of self-hypnosis to help them treat this problem. Self-hypnosis is a form of insomnia hypnosis that is often very effective for suggestive persons, but is much less helpful for clients who think analytically. A very comparable strategy, called Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP, is nearly always more useful for these persons.

So many possible treatments for sleeplessness exist that this article cannot cover them all. Experts do not agree about how to cure insomnia. Most clients who have encountered NLP and insomnia hypnosis, however, have reported them to be highly effective in have helped them to get uninterrupted, peaceful sleep. These innovative and helpful approaches, unlike drugs or other alternative cures, does not have any hangover or adverse effects, and can be used almost anywhere.

Summary: Between five and ten percent of Americans experiences some form of sleeping problem. Insomnia is a sleep problem that stops people from getting to sleep or sleeping well each night. A number of techniques have been used to help them effectively manage this disorder. One of the most effective, as described by people who have tried this treatment method, is hypnotherapy for insomnia.

Resources: Alan B. Densky, CH has been a practicing hypnotist for thirty yrs. He’s done extensive research on insomnia, and created an effective self-hypnosis insomnia program. Visit his Neuro-VISION hypnotherapy site to benefit from his Free hypnosis videos, and hypnosis article repository.
