Alternative Acne Solutions Go High Tech

Posted by Gisbert in Acne

Acne vulgaris or the common acne afflicts majority of adolescents everywhere. The rise in hormonal activity at puberty signals the onset of changes to the underlying structures of the skin. Unfortunately, these pubescent transformations give rise to conditions that are conducive for acne. With acne as the leading dermatological concern of the youth as well as for a number of individuals who experience acne beyond their adolescent years, it is no wonder that acne solutions are quite in high demand.

Kinds of acne
There are several kinds of acne according to how severe the condition is. The first one is referred to as comedonal. This is characterised by the presence of non-inflamed blackheads or whiteheads. Blackheads occur on the surface of the skin whilst whiteheads are closed comedones that are under the skin’s surface. They both refer to the blockage of the pores of the skin.

The next kind of acne is known as papulo-pustular or inflamed acne. This may be mild, moderate to severe inflammatory acne. Here, the skin is markedly raised and in the case where pustules are present, the pus-filled pimples are a clear indication of the nature of the bacterial infection.

Common acne treatments
The most popular mode of acne treatment comes as topical creams or ointments containing bactericides, antibiotics or retinoid compounds. Benzoyl peroxide is a well known active ingredient for many of the popular bactericidal anti-acne medications like Proactiv. It is known to be rather effective for comedonals as well as for mild to moderate inflammatory acnes. Azelaic acid and salicylic acid are also used as an ingredient in topical medication for non-inflammatory acne. Neutrogena as well as Clean and Clear act against acne with salicylic acid as their main ingredient.

Erythromycin and tetracyclines are broad spectrum antibiotics prescribed for mild to moderate papulo-pustular acne. Tretinoin and adapalene are the better known retinoids found in some acne solutions and cuts across most of the acne types except for severe inflammatory acne. Adapalene is the active ingredient in Differin.

The matter concerning severe inflammatory acne stems from its resistance to the other common methods applied for the other acne categories. One retinoid that stands out when it comes to severe acne is isotretinoine, the active ingredient in Accutane. Isotretinoine requires a prescription from a competent doctor as it may result in various side-effects.

High technology versus acne
For non-OTC options of fighting acne, one promising alternative is phototherapy. Here, the affected area of the skin is exposed to visible light, either violet or red. This short wavelength illumination seems to generate a reaction from the P. acnes bacteria wherein, over a matter of days of phototherapy treatment the bacteria ceases to survive. Consequently, the acne condition clears up with no known serious side-effects on the part of the patient.

Another high technology solution for acne conditions is through the use of lasers. Although laser treatments have been implemented long before to repair damaging acne scars, it was found to be beneficial for reducing and preventing acne in the long term. The object of laser based acne solutions is to burn away the follicles and sebaceous glands where the blockage and subsequent infection occurs. Ultimately, the acne causing bacteria is also killed in the laser process.

What Is Inside The Best Acne Treatments?

Posted by Gisbert in Acne

More than 80% of people worldwide contract acne once they reach adolescent age. However, it is not enough to assume that because the best acne treatments available work for some people that it would automatically work for others. The fact is, people react differently to different substances, with some having extremely adverse reactions that could prove more harmful than beneficial.

It is therefore vital to know the composition of anti-acne products in order to avoid aggravating the condition. Otherwise, what would have been just a search for a simple solution to a pimple might result into a full acne outbreak.

Understanding acne
Acne is primarily a bacterial infection brought about by the blockage of the follicles by dead skin cells. The blockage promotes the accumulation of underlying skin oils or sebum and this is where P.acnes or the acne causing bacteria thrives. The pores subsequently break down resulting in the dreaded acne condition.

The best acne treatments aim to clear the skin’s pores and fight the acne causing bacteria. In spite of this there are still cases of acne outbreaks that persist or reappear after the application of anti-acne medication. This does not necessarily mean that these solutions were ineffective. Rather, other factors come into play such as increased hormonal activity, poor hygienic practices, hypoallergenic reactions and genetic history.

Anti-acne ingredients
There are various modes used in the delivery of acne treatments, namely, bactericidals, antibiotics and retinoids, each having their own pros and cons.

The active ingredient in most anti-acne topical bactericidals is benzoyl peroxide. In use since the 1920’s, the substance is diluted at 2% to 10% in cream or gel and applied directly on the affected area of the skin twice a day. Benzoyl peroxide breaks down into benzoic acid which dissolves the pore blockage and also kills the P. acnes bacteria.

There are a significant number who have initial sensitivity to benzoyl peroxide, exhibiting symptoms such as skin irritation, redness and dryness. In extreme cases, it can even produce itching, peeling and inflammation of the skin. Generally however, the skin becomes tolerant to the substance in a week or two. The anti-acne product Proactiv is known to use benzoyl peroxide.

Salicylic acid is another substance used amongst the acne treatments that are sold over-the-counter. The salicylic acid works as an exfoliant, encouraging the skin to shed cells more rapidly thereby preventing the blockage of the pores. Neutrogena and Clean and Clear are examples of products that have salicylic acid as their active ingredient. Note however that this compound is toxic in large quantities and certain people are hypersensitive to salicylic acid even at minute dosages.

Retinoids are chemical compounds related to vitamin A and are known to affect the cells of the follicle lining. This prevents the build up of dead cells in the pores. Tretinoin (Retin-A) and adapalene (Differin) are examples of retinoids used in the treatment of acne, usually in conjunction with other anti-acne medication. Retinoids require prescription as they are known to cause skin irritation and an initial outbreak of acne. Tretinoin in particular can increase the risk of sunburn.

There are other substances used with the best known acne treatments like azelaic acid, retinol and various antibiotics such as erythromycin, clindamycine and tetracycline, just to name a few. They all work in different ways and each has their varying side-effects. It is best to consult with a physician to get the proper advice on how to deal with an acne condition.

The Best Acne Cure Treatment Options

Posted by Gda1984 in Acne

Are you left in confusion after searching for the best acne cure? Treatment options are all over the place and they all claim to be the best acne cure. Treatment options are not all the same, and it does matter which one you choose.

It matters because most people spend too much time and way too much money trying out products that may bring short term relief, but do not fix their acne problem long term. Even when some products do work for certain people, keeping up with the expense of buying the product again and again can become more stressful than is necessary.

If you consider the most common causes of acne, it is easier to determine the real best acne cure. Treatment should not cost a ton of money on a regular basis and should not include harsh chemicals that dry out your face and a whole line of products that must be used at certain times of the day, without missing a day. That is too time consuming and expensive for most people to keep up with.

Most store bought products are going to dry out your skin and can even aggravate an acne condition, making it even more uncomfortable. Most are higher priced than a lot of people want to pay on a regular basis, and they are recommended so that you use not just one but a whole line of products. For example, you may use a toner to even out your PH level and an exfoliate to clear dead cells from the skin surface, but then that dries out your skin and you need a moisturizer as well.

Who has the time or money for all of that?

The popular products advertised all over the TV and in magazines and newspapers are just glamorized versions of what is available in the store. For example, Proactive comes with a pumped up price tag but actually only contains one proven acne fighting ingredient. It is not effective for a lot of people, and much of your money goes to the paid celebrity endorsements, not really because the product works.

So what is the best acne cure? Treatments that take control of your body from the inside out are the most effective. There are many all natural programs that teach you ways to adjust your eating, water intake, and other lifestyle factors so that you can fight acne just while living every day as you normally do. There are even inexpensive EBooks that will show you all the secrets quickly, saving you tons of time and money in the long run.

Sometimes curing acne can be as simple as taking in more water and eating the proper foods. Why waste your time on bottled products or prescriptions with dangerous side effects, when you can simply add changes to what you already do daily and see amazing results?

There can also be hormonal issues behind acne, such as for teenagers and women during their menstrual cycles. The all natural programs can help with these causes of acne as well.

Get Rid Of Acne Quick

I have surfed from acne for most of my life. I have always looked for ways to get rid of acne quick. I started to break out with acne in middle school, and it got really bad in high school. I know first hand how much acne can lower someones self esteem.

For years I have tried everything from products I have seen on TV to taken pills from a doctor. I saw very small gains, but the acne just kept coming back time after time.

Finally I quick doing what doctors told me, and created my own formula on how to get rid of acne quick, and its worked for not only me, but some of my friends as well.

So here is my method of how to get rid of acne quick.

Believe it or not most of your acne on your face comes from touching your face a lot. I use to touch my face all the time, and most of the time I did not even realize I was doing it.

So this was the first thing I had to cut down on. After I stopped touching my face I saw a decrease in the amount of pimples I was getting in just three days.

Once I got the touching of my face under control I then moved on to washing my face. I like most people though if I wash my face more often then surely enough I would get rid of my acne quick, but little did I know that was not really working.

So what I did was I used an inexpensive acne face wash. First though I opened my skin pores by splashing some warm water on my face. Then I applied the acne face wash to my face letting it sit about 60 seconds. After that I then rinsed my face using warm water again.

Then I used a soft towel to pat my face dry. Once my face was dried I then rinsed it again this time though using cold water to help close my pores. The only time I washed my face like this was in the morning after I woke up. You could also try and do it before you go to bed. I think either way will work.

Now its important to open your skins pores before you apply any acne face wash so it can get deep down in the pores to wash them out completely. Just remember to close your pores with cold water to help prevent any feature dirt or oil from getting back in them.

One last thing to be careful of though is, not to over wash your face. A lot of people make this mistake myself included, but doing this can lead to your face becoming very dry and peeling, and even make it itch. I have done this before and its not a great thing to do.

Now that you know my method of how to get rid of acne quick, I hope you put it to good use. As I said before my method has helped not only me, but some of my close friends as well, and I hope it can help you.

Learn To Cure Your Acne Naturally

More and more acne sufferers are now turning to treating their skin condition naturally. This is because doctors are now too quick to prescribe an oral drug for a problem that can be controlled with a nutritious diet and a healthier lifestyle. No drug will cure anything if you’re continually feeding the cause with poor lifestyle habits.

Doctors won’t prescribe a healthy, natural approach to treating acne because prescribing drugs is what keeps them in their job. Continual use of drugs can cause unwanted side effects, and this is what is putting more an more people off of visiting their doctor for the treatment of their acne.

So what would be your best approach to treating your skin? First of it’s important to keep your skin clean, and you can do this easily with a medicated, anti-bacterial soap. It doesn’t need to be a prescription strength chemical based soap, it can be one that you can buy straight of the shelf in your local grocery store. As long as it kills bacteria and keeps your skin clean there’s nothing else you need it to do.

All you need to do is wash your skin morning and night, and this is to wash away all the dead skin cells, oil and bacteria. Doing this gives your skin the room it needs to breath, and leaves less on your skin to clog up any pores.

Keeping your skin moist is very important. Dry skin can encourage acne, and cause the pores to become more clogged. Drinking plenty of water every day will help your skin stay supple and moist. You should aim for at least 8 glasses of water spread out through the day. If you body becomes dehydrated your skin will become too dry, and then your acne can get worse.

Eat a diet that is filled with foods full of nutrition. Fresh fruit and vegetables are the foods you need your diet to consist of the most. Your body relies on vitamins and minerals to function properly, and your skin needs them for it to look good too.

If you want to eat junk food that is filled with fat, and has zero nutritional value then your skin will reflect what you’re putting into your body.

A diet that is filled with these poor foods also puts more toxins into your body, and these toxins put a strain on your internal organs. When your internal organs have to work harder this has an effect on the way your skin looks, and also has an effect on your energy levels.

Regular exercise helps keep your skin clear. Exercise helps your body excrete toxins through sweating, and it also gives all of your internal organs a good workout. Your blood pumps faster, and exercise will release endorphins so you feel better, and when you feel better you look better.

Using these tips for clearer skin will have a much more positive effect on your life than taking drugs for a year or two that only mask a cause of your acne.
