How To Take Dietary Supplements

Posted by Ergo_items in Supplements and Vitamins

To take or not to take dietary supplements is entirely dependent on what kind of foods you eat. There are times when our body, even if we eat a lot, still could not get the exact amount of minerals it needs therefore vitamin or mineral deficiency ensues. However, as the case may be, should our body receives too much it simply metabolizes them all, use some minerals, store some others and excrete wasted minerals out from the body provided that you are healthy to begin with.

But more often than not, only few people take in enough minerals everyday. For instance, low hemoglobin means low in iron. For the body to be able to produce enough hemoglobin, it needs iron because along with metabolic processes, it requires utilization of iron. This is the most common mineral deficiency especially here in the Philippines. I, for example, have been suffering iron deficiency for long that is why I have been taking in supplements and here we should discuss how to take supplements.

First thing to keep in mind is to take in doses that you can tolerate. For instance, in my case, I can’t tolerate taking in more than one tablet daily because iron supplements have strong smell that I usually get stomach churns and if I could not contain it, I would go vomiting because of the odor. Other than this reason, the body normally absorbs tolerable dosages as well. This means that the body can absorb better and faster if you take in small doses every time. Since you are taking it as a supplement then it follows that the faster you can absorb it, the better it is to correct deficient amounts in your bloodstream.

Next, always make sure to take your dietary supplements with meal. Dietary supplements are called as such because they just support your diet meaning it is not a form of replacement to your daily meals. Sometimes, vitamins and minerals are best absorbed in the presence of high acid in our stomach. Eating produces large amount of stomach acid because it is the one that will aid in the digestion of food that we eat. Knowing this, it would certainly mean that if your stomach has a lot of acid after eating, it follows that when you take in your dietary supplement, your body can metabolize the mineral easily.

The other thing that you need to remember is that there is never too little when taking dietary supplements. Sometimes, taking supplements would really help maintain a stable healthy lifestyle provided that we follow some health rules too. A healthy lifestyle does not only depend on taking supplements. To keep everything balanced, you need to maintain having healthy exercises or activities, stop vices and eat healthy food. To maintain the balance, you have to put in effort. Like any other things in this life, being healthy is a matter of a person’s will. Taking dietary supplements, no matter how little dose we take in, is already presenting a benefit.

Having The Benefits Of Health Supplements

Posted by Ergo_items in Supplements and Vitamins

If you are one of those people who have developed a very thorough regime of everyday diet, you must have strict compliance on the things about your food. However, if you are the type of person who eats basically whatever is being served, you must have a sense of satisfaction as long as your tummy is satisfied if any at all.

But do you know that no matter how strict we follow a certain diet recommended by dietitians or how much food we eat, there is never such a thing called enough. Yes, you read it right and here we see the benefit of taking health supplements. Taking Multivitamins is one way of taking health supplements. These vitamins will help us battle stress and sickness. They boost our immune system to fight common ailments found in our surroundings. How well your body fights depends on how good your immune system is.

One specific benefit of health supplements is that its effect is long term and not just short term. If your body receives constant boost, it follows that your body can stand and fight foreign bodies that enters our body and not only that it gives constant surveillance in all corners of our body no matter how small the area is. If you have not taken such step of taking health supplements yet, I suggest you take a little step back and ponder on what the benefits you could really see when you take vitamin supplements.

Another thing that I find good about taking health supplements is that it doesn’t cost you so much time at all. After meal you just have to drink it along with water before you go brushing your teeth. It doesn’t take any fraction of your time at all because you are just doing it along with what you normally do everyday. You can’t just go about yelling that you do not like the vitamins because you think you couldn’t swallow the tablet or capsule for that matter. I was really like this before. I could not take in iron supplement because I just can’t stand the smell.

However, as time goes by and as my body adjust to the immunity of the smell, I can just take it as if it were not there at all. You see, your body has a way of adjusting. It only takes a matter of time before you can actually take the hint and start drinking those health supplements.

One thing about health supplements though, you have to seriously think about what health supplement you are going to take because you would really not know its active ingredients. You just have to be smart enough to know the components of a certain supplement and you just need to do a little research before you start taking anything. Some people will even say that there is nothing good without having anything bad. While this is true for other supplements, you can counter this by searching for the best health supplement there is that is needed by your body.

Natural Vitamin Supplements Vs. Man-Made Synthetic Vitamins

Posted by Danielmoser in Supplements and Vitamins

Science is amazing in its ability to duplicate natural things. Man-made fabrics can feel just like fine silk at a fraction of the price. Man-made flooring looks remarkably like prized hardwood, yet is more durable and cheaper.

But when it comes to nutrition, nature has the upper hand. Even the idea that a synthetic, laboratory created vitamin could be a replacement for a natural vitamin supplement is ridiculous.

Natural vitamin supplements start and end with real substances from nature that are known to build up the body. Synthetic vitamins are at best, cheap pretenders.

From a manufacturers perspective, synthetic vitamins can be less expensive to produce, so the profit margin is much higher.

Keeping “natural” in natural vitamin supplements is clearly more expensive to produce but its also more valuable to the consumer.

Nutritional health supplements are no longer relegated to health food stores. You can find vitamin supplements on the shelves at the grocery, discount retailer and even convenience stores.

Too many consumers are fooled into thinking that a product labeled all “natural” or “vitamin supplement” is actually all natural. That’s just not true and uninformed consumers are getting very little nutritional value for their money.

Synthetic vitamins want to dress up and look good, while natural vitamin supplements are less interested in putting on a show.

Synthetic vitamins add artificial coloring or flavors, which are not found in natural vitamins. They also play another chemical game which is “a little bit goes a long way”.

A synthetic Vitamin C can be made with large amount of starch. Since starch is a natural substance, the synthetic Vitamin C can be called “all natural”.

The question is, which do you think is more natural? starch or the bioflavinoids that come from a real orange? If your buying a vitamin supplement because you want whole food vitamins, is that what you get with synthetics?

Laboratories have produced wonder drugs and many useful items. Nature produced even more wonder drugs in the form of plants and herbs. Chances are, we don’t even know all of the possibilities for healing from natural substances.

Take for example, Sea Aloe, found in cold, pure waters of the ocean. This powerful antioxidant delivers high potency from a small amount of liquid daily. Since our bodies are natural, it makes sense to sustain wellness with legitimately natural supplements.

Vitamins that are out of date are not dangerous to a persons health. These vitamins simply lose their effectiveness and potency. According to Dr. Steven Strauss, author of “Your Prescription and You”, chemical analysis is the old true way to find out if a vitamin has lost is potency.

Dr. Strauss explains that the only other possible way to know if the vitamins are not good any longer is if there is a change in the color, the taste, the smell, or its physical appearance.

Not only is the correct storage and handling of vitamins important; equally important is the actual
usage of the vitamins.

It is wise to first speak with a doctor to verify the best vitamins and/or supplements for a persons body and lifestyle. If prescription drugs are being taken, some vitamins and minerals can cause both mild and severe drug interactions.

In addition, make sure that before purchasing vitamins and or supplements, the instructions are read carefully.

The most helpful discount vitamin websites will give a breakdown of the name, ingredients, color, size and correct usage and dosage of each vitamin. These sites also provide additional information about news and events in the vitamin industry as well as articles pertaining to vitamins, supplements and minerals.

Go online today and explore the wide-variety of discount vitamins, minerals and supplements
available.

To learn more about the specific ones of interest, take the opportunity to read some of the articles and learn about news and events taking place in the industry. Discount vitamins and other supplements are vital to good health. With exercise, vitamins and a healthy diet, a person can live their life to the fullest potential.

Appetite Suppressors - Can They Be Safe And Effective?

Posted by Shantige in Supplements and Vitamins

If you are like the majority of people I know, you are probably trying to find a way to help you lose weight. For most people, one of the biggest challenges of trying to lose weight is that they are always hungry, thinking about food or find themselves snacking between every meal. You may have heard about appetite suppressors as a way to help curb the hunger and are thinking of trying one. There may be one that’s right for you. Before you go ahead and purchase one, you should know the difference between the various types available to you.

What are appetite suppressors? They are different kinds of supplements that have different ingredients to help stave off the hunger signs and signals in your body. They are used usually along with other forms of diet and exercise to help lose weight and keep it off. They have been around for many years and have come a long way as far as ingredients, effectiveness and can help a lot of people kick start a weight loss program.

There are different groups of appetite suppressors that include:

* Appetite suppressors of the amphetamine class - these stimulate the alertness of the central nervous system and the impulses to act on external actions. These reduce appetite and increase the amount of activity so that they can also be used to reduce weight. Some are banned in a lot of areas.

* Appetite suppressors of the phentermine class - this is one of the most widely used supplements on the market today. It works by being able to increase the releasing of hormones and transmitters which signal the nervous system and make it more alert for actions and reducing appetite.

* Ephedra appetite suppressors and ephedrine - ephedrine is a stimulant that is extracted from a species of plant known as ephedra. This substance is banned in a lot of communities because it has been known to over stimulate heart activity and raise blood pressure.

* Sibutramine appetite suppressors - this works by being able to reduce the reuptake of the hormones and transmitters like serotonin and dopamine and increase the effects of these kinds of substances by increasing alertness and reduced appetite.

* Rimonabant appetite suppressors - this is a new kind of supplement that works by blocking signals and receptors that increase the appetite.

* Herbal appetite suppressors - these have gained in popularity because of the side effects that have been associated with other forms of appetite suppressors. This is the only type of appetite suppressor I would ever suggest using. Herbal appetite suppressors have worked very well for several of my clients.

Each of the different kinds of appetite suppressors can work differently in the body and have different effects and results. You should always carefully follow any directions for any supplements that you take. It’s also a good idea to run your plans past your health practitioner.

You should also be aware that exercise and diet are critical pieces in the weight loss puzzle and that you should not rely solely on supplements to help you lose weight. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is key to losing weight and keeping it off.

Sources Of Vegetarian Omega 3 And What Vegetarians And Vegans Should Know

Posted by Trycmcw in Supplements and Vitamins

Vegetarian omega 3 sources allow those with alternative diets the same opportunity to enjoy omega 3 benefits. Vegetarians and vegans already have a diet that has been shown as beneficial for lowering the risk of heart problems and other diseases prevented by some fatty acids, but it is because it is rich in omega 6 and linoleic acid.

Like most daily diets, these vegetable-based diets are low in omega 3 fats, often called alpha-linolenic acid, which allows your body to produce docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaeoic acid (EPA). These fats are the ones most people lack regardless of their diet, but also the most beneficial.

Natural Food Sources

Omega 3 benefits are generally associated with fish and fish oil, but those are not the only food sources rich in fatty acids. Flax oil and milled flax seeds are the richest vegetarian omega 3 sources. For an additional source of omega 6 and 3 sources, consider hemp seed and oil. Rape seed oil and olive oil contain smaller amounts of these nutrients, but you need to be careful since rape seed oil is an irritant for some people.

Oils and seeds are not the only omega 3 foods from non-animal sources. Tofu and walnuts have some omega nutrients, but are actually higher in omega 6s than 3s. Dark, leafy green vegetables such as broccoli and other vegetables such as cabbage also have these powerful nutrients and make great additions to your diet.

Vegetarian Omega 3 Fortified Foods

Eggs are one food that has added omega 3 benefits because they are often naturally fortified by feeding the chickens an abundance of flax seeds. Milk producers and yogurt companies frequently add vegetarian based ALA as well. For strict vegetarian diets, however, these foods are off the list, but it doesn’t mean that they can’t enjoy the health benefits.

Several brands of margarine and salad dressings use alternative oils such as olive or flax as their base. If you are drinking milk alternatives, consider soy drinks that include flax seed products. Yet another source of ALA for vegetarians is grain breads. The biggest rule of thumb is to read labels since different brands use different sources.

Supplements

One of the biggest omega 3 sources for everyone is supplements. Supplements are not necessarily from a vegetable base, so vegetarians need to watch labels. Flax, hemp, and perilla oils are a few of the common supplements available.

All of the sources vary significantly in the actual omega 3 benefits your body receives. Fish oil, for example, requires two separate processes in order for your body to use the substance while flax oil requires three. One of the highest vegetarian sources of omega 3 is microalgae oil, which your body can begin to use immediately with no additional processing. Microalgae oil gives you the maximum benefit of omega 3s. In addition, microalgae oil contains the proper balance of EPA and DHA making it a far superior source to any other including fish.

While foods and oils like flax oil and walnuts are a source of vegetarian omega 3, microalgae oil supplements is a higher source while being easier for your body to use. This allows everyone to enjoy omega 3 benefits and a healthy lifestyle.

Coenzyme Q10 In Skin Care Products Is Good Right? Wrong

Posted by Peter11 in Supplements and Vitamins

Everyone knows Coenzyme Q10, (or CoQ10) is a great ingredient to find in your skin care products. If you look on the label of your anti aging product bottles it’s almost obligatory to see Coenzyme Q10 listed.

That’s why it’s there, because everyone expects to see it there, so if they do it sells. But is it good to see Coenzyme Q10 listed in the ingredients?

Hard question to answer, because it’s not easy to say. Yes and no. It depends. And that’s why it’s not sufficient to assume that if Coenzyme Q10 is listed on the ingredients list that’s good. Because it depends on a number of things.

What is Coenzyme Q10 and what does it do? It is a substance that is naturally made by the human body and is essential for the proper functioning of our cells. It’s like a vitamin, or what is known as an anti oxidant, and as we get older our store of CoQ10 starts to decrease. As CoQ10 is important to our skin health this isn’t good. As an anti oxidant it helps protect our cells against damage by free radicals.

And as free radicals are important factors in the aging process, we need good stores of anything that help protect us against them.

And it helps our skin molecules to function properly, and produce substances like collagen and elastin, both essential to skin health as well.

Our supply of Coenzyme Q10 starts to deplete with age, and stress, and other lifestyle factors like poor diet. And in particular Coenzyme Q10 is depleted when our skin is exposed to UV radiation. Ie it’s exposed to the sun’s rays.

So if it helps protect our skin cells from free radical damage and also helps produce useful skin substances, wouldn’t it be good to see Coenzyme Q10 listed on the label of the skin care and anti aging products we use?

Not necessarily. There’s some problems. Even if it’s to be of use to us it has to be there in sufficient quantities, and often it isn’t. Secondly it has to be present in a form that can penetrate the skin. Even if there is sufficient quantities in the product it’s no use if it can’t penetrate the skin and get to where it can do it’s work.

Otherwise it just sits on the surface of the skin.

How have the best skin care and anti aging companies overcome this? By producing a special version of Coenzyme Q10 called Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. This is a type of CoQ10 that has tiny particle sizes that do get into the skin, and has been shown to increase the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin. This in turn has quite a significant effect on combating wrinkles.

And it can work it’s anti oxidant miracles once it’s got into your skin and can then help prevent skin damage.

Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is extremely expensive, but if it works then there will be companies that will use it to produce the best, and most effective, anti aging skin care products that money can buy. But as these companies don’t spend stacks of money on marketing their products are cost comparable to the other products you’ll find on the shelves that don’t contain Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10, and aren’t very effective.

But as they don’t spend stacks on marketing, chances are you’ve never even heard of them, even though they produce the best anti aging and skin care products in the world.

So no, it isn’t necessarily good to find Coenzyme Q10 in your skin care products, but it is good to find Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. But you won’t find it in mainstream skincare products on the shelves.
