Magnesium supplements are used in artrial fibrillation. Magnesium sulphate is used for patients with artrial fibrillation to control their ventricular activity. Magnesium supplements are also effective in treating atrial tachycardia. There are plenty of benefits of magnesium supplement.

Patients with osteoporosis can be at risk due to the deficiency of magnesium in their bodies. Magnesium controls the metabolic activity of calcium and those hormones responsible for controlling calcium. It has been noted that magnesium supplements can increase the mineral density in bones. For all those who suffer from hypertension, magnesium supplements can help them to deal with it. In addition, healthy and balanced diet containing magnesium will help to deal with magnesium deficiency.

Green leafy vegetables, meat, etc are good sources of magnesium. Such foods are normally high in fibers and potassium, which are also good for health. Magnesium also helps in controlling the levels of insulin so it is good for patients with diabetes. It regulates insulin level in the body, which helps in controlling the blood sugar level. Now since magnesium is so helpful in regulating diabetes and hypertension, it is obvious that it will also help in dealing with cardiovascular diseases. If your consumption of magnesium is more, the lesser is the risk of developing a heart disease. Magnesium supplements also prevent clotting of blood and increase the elasticity of bones.

Calcium is one of the most essential nutrients required by our body because; it is the main building block of our bones. It is also the main component of our teeth and helps patients with insomnia, colon cancer, high cholesterol levels, depression, and brittle bones. The daily intake of calcium differs from person to person but an average intake of 1000 mg is at least necessary. Hence, people who are deficient in calcium can take calcium supplements.

Dairy products are rich and direct sources of calcium but beans like rajma, leafy vegetables like spinach contain calcium. However, the absorption rate of calcium from spinach and beans is only one tenth of 100. So it is better that calcium is obtained through direct sources. Liquid Ionic Calcium Magnesium supplements are available in the market. Calcium and magnesium together form adenosine triphosphate, which gives us energy. These supplements contain the right portions of calcium and magnesium to maintain balance. This supplement is also critical for the nervous system.

All vitamins are vital for our health. However, we will focus on Vitamin D supplements and their benefits. The easiest way to obtain Vitamin D is exposure to the sun. Vitamin D controls the levels of phosphorus and calcium in the blood. Deficiency of this vitamin may cause rickets, liver and kidney diseases. Fish oils, cod liver oils are the best sources of Vitamin D. Therefore, seafood eaters won’t have to worry about this deficiency. In some countries, all dairy products are fortified with Vitamin D so that the risk of its deficiency is less. Vitamin D supplements play an important role in reducing cancer since its intake kills cancer cells.

Zinc is also a vital mineral required for the body. Many people may not realize the importance of this mineral hence let us focus on zinc supplements. Zinc helps in developing immunity and fighting against various diseases. During pregnancy zinc intake should be more in women. Multivitamin tablets are good sources of zinc. Soya, baked beans, kidney beans, white rice, cheese, pork, beef, etc. contain zinc. So if your diet contains these items then your body must be well equipped with zinc. Excess of zinc may be harmful to your body and it can cause nausea, diarrhea, reducing of HDL cholesterol, etc.

What Are The Benefits Of Vitamins

Posted by Tradepla in Supplements and Vitamins

Vitamins are necessary organic compounds that are needed by the body. The compound can pass up as a vitamin if that compound cannot be synthesized by the organism in right quantities and thus the organism may need to get it from the diet. Vitamins are usually classified not by their structure but by their biological and chemical activity. Usually these set of chemicals are grouped under the alphabetized generic descriptor, which is why we have Vitamin A.

This first group of chemicals will include the retinal, retinol and many carotenoids. Essential nutrients that the body may need are different from the vitamins. Some of these essential nutrients are the dietary minerals, the fatty acids and the amino acids. Vitamins that can be absorbed by the body may assume different biochemical functions.

Some of these vitamins act as hormones like the Vitamin D, others may act as antioxidants like the Vitamin E and others may also assume the role of mediators in cell signaling and regulators of cell and tissue growth in the body. The other examples of vitamins, like the largest group B complex act as precursors for enzyme co-factor biomolecules. These vitamins are there to act as catalysts and substrates in the metabolism of the body.

Vitamins are usually obtained by the person thru the intake and the consumption of food that is rich in vitamins. But with the advancement of technology, vitamins are now produced and marketed as commodity chemicals.

The vitamins that can be consumed by a person can either be grouped as a water-soluble vitamin or a fat soluble vitamin. The water soluble vitamin is the one that can easily dissolve on water. The fat-soluble on the other hand are absorbed thru the intestinal tract with the help of lipids. There are 13 vitamins that can be helpful for humans; four of which are fat-soluble and the rest are water soluble.

The intake of vitamins is necessary in order to facilitate the normal growth and the development of any multicellular organism. For example the fetus at the mother’s womb may need the vitamins in order for its body parts to develop well. The nutrients are necessary in order to effectively facilitate the chemical reactions that can produce and develop its skin, bone and muscles.

The moment the right amount of vitamins is not absorbed by the fetus then the child may develop serious health issues later on. In general, the vitamins that may be needed by the body can be taken thru the intake of food.

But there are other ways and means present in order to obtain these nutrients. There are some organisms within the body of a person that can produce the vitamin needed by the person. An example is the gut-flora and this can produce Vitamin K. Vitamin on the other hand is produced by the help of the ultraviolet in the sunlight. The moment the growth and development of the person has been completed, these vitamins are still needed so that cells, tissues and organs can be properly maintained.

How To Make The Benefits Of Vitamins Work For You

Posted by Rxmcgla in Supplements and Vitamins

What are the benefits of vitamins when it comes to preventing Heart Disease? Which ones should we take? Which ones are the most beneficial to our heart? Believe it or not there are a lot of things that we can do to prevent this disease.

We all are aware of the most obvious, which is don’t smoke, don’t even think of starting and if you are smoking try to stop. I really can’t stress how important that is. I mean, as far as I’m concerned, that’s a no brainer. I’m sure we all know how destructive smoking is to our bodies, how it hardens our arteries over time and how it is the perfect invitation to many cancers.

Other things that are just as important are exercise, just 30 minutes a day can benefit not only our body but the mind as well. Eating a healthy diet and having proper nutrition makes a huge difference when it comes to preventing heart disease. Eating a low fat, low cholesterol diet is extremely important.

We all know that the majority of us don’t get all the nutrition that we need through our diets, so supplementing with vitamins becomes necessary to our overall health. So the question again is, which vitamins should we take?

The first thing that should be done is to look for a good quality vitamin and vineral supplement. There are many trusted brands out there and a lot to choose from, so take your time and choose wisely.

In addition to a good quality vitamin and mineral supplement, a good quality Omega 3 supplement is very important. This is especially true for those of us who don’t eat two or more servings of fish a week, which I’m sure applies to most of us.

For those who do eat the weekly serving of fish, make sure it’s the right kind such as fatty fish like mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna ( be careful on the mercury content on this one) and salmon.

CoQ10 which stands for Coenzyme Q10, has become a very popular supplement over the past few years. The amount of CoQ10 produced in the body decreases with age, which may lead us to heart disease. It is believed that CoQ10 works by helping the production of energy in cells, especially the ones located in the heart that need the most energy.

Garlic is also a big contender here. Whether you eat them raw or cooked, they appear to have infection-fighting properties, blood pressure-lowering effects and may protect the heart. So as I tend to say, a garlic a day keeps the doctor away, and that alone is one great benefit.

For those who don’t want to mess with odor or perhaps don’t even like garlic, try taking garlic supplements, they are a must. You get the benefits without the stink. Just pick a good quality supplement and you’ll be happy you did.

The benefits of vitamins are undeniable, and staying healthy is easier if you use a little common sense. Eat right, stay away from harmful fats, eat fruits and vegetables, exercise, don’t smoke or drink. Put your mind to it and you can do it!

Maintaining your health so you can enjoy life is a necessity. Learn the many ways the benefits of vitamins and minerals can keep you healthy and prolong your life.

Alternative Medicines Aim To Cure Big Problem

There are currently twenty one countries that have obesity rates over 10% with the United States, Mexico, the UK, Canada and Greece being in the top five (in descending order). The affliction of obesity along with all it’s co-morbid diseases, is putting a heavy burden on the health care systems in these countries as well.

It is understandable why obesity seems to have completely gotten out of control. People who overeat on a daily basis have actually stretched their stomachs to accommodate more food. Also, the food they eat is typically unhealthy. Their bodies can’t use much of what they eat, so it gets purged or processed pretty quickly. All this means that obese people will get hungry more often, and eat more which perpetuates their weight upward even further. If individuals have a thyroid problem, then the situation can seem almost impossible.

There seems to be an end in sight for folks with spiraling hunger and obesity issues. For centuries the indigenous people of South Africa and Namibia have eaten the meat of a plant called hoodia gordonii to suppress their appetite and rid themselves of hunger pains while hunting for days at a time in the African deserts. The South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research made this plant famous when they managed to isolate and patent the ingredient responsible for the effects on appetite and named it simply, P57. They partnered up with Pfizer and have been doing research on it ever since. Unfortunately because of the FDA standards that Pfizer has to meet, it could take years before they will be ready to present the product.

In order to meet market demands, companies that research and create all natural supplements are using the hoodia plant to make effective weight loss solutions. By using the meat of the plant like the indigenous people of South Africa did, a few companies have created a quality product that helps obese people loose weight with out having to exercise more or feel hungry all day. Hoodia has even been able to consistently help individuals with thyroid problems.

Unfortunately, as with any product that promises results this amazing, there are going to be scams and frauds. Consumers should be leery of any product that does not list its ingredients on the bottle, or that isn’t backed up by real research.

Most hoodia products on the market today have been subject to independent testing at a company called Alkemists Pharmaceuticals where they run three very rigorous tests on identity and purity of ingredients, chromatography, and an analysis on macro and microscopy. Test results have been made public and display some shocking results. Over 90% of hoodia products are scams. They often have impure ingredients, trial amounts of hoodia, or no hoodia at all!

Hoodia is a great discovery that produces wonderful results for people who are severely over weight, or who just want to loose a few pounds. Despite a market that can be full of scams, there are one or two quality hoodia products out there that can help you loose weight quickly and safely, but it is always important to keep yourself informed. There is research out there that can help verify the products that you are interested in. So do your homework, and experience the remarkable effects of hoodia for yourself!

Susan Chadwick writes for Global Health News, covering topics in all areas of health, from weight loss to internal cleansing.

A Hoodia Gordonii product tested by Alkemist Labs is sold under the brand name Hoodia Prime and can be found at www.HoodiaPrime.com or Hoodia Prime by Nature’s Biology

The Truth About Protein

Posted by Dynamichealthtips in Supplements and Vitamins

The word protein means: Of first importance. After water, protein is the most abundant substance in the body.

Protein molecules, whish consist of amino acids linked together, are the basic building foundation for the entire body: the bones, muscles, organs, blood, arteries, antibodies, skin, hair, nails, hormones, tissues etc.

Protein can also help lower blood pressure, it aids in weight loss, keeps cholesterol levels low, it slows artery clogging, and it decreases your chance of getting certain forms of cancer. Taking protein has also been shown to be an excellent preventative measure against aging and illness. The proper amount of high quality protein is essential for repair, growth, and healing of any and all body parts.

Virtually everyone should ingest protein daily to ensure a continuous supply of basic amino acids. Amino acids bind together in infinite combinations to become protein molecules, which are needed to repair an endless number of tissues throughout the body.

There are nine essential amino acids that the body cannot produce, they must be supplied through your diet. There are also sixteen non-essential amino acids that the body can manufacture from the nine essential amino acids. All nine essential amino acids must be present for the amino acids to bind together for protein synthesis.

Protein can be found in meat and other foods you eat. Organic red meat and wild fish, for example, are great sources of natural animal based protein. Many people supplement protein into their diet, in addition to the protein they get from the foods they eat.

If you are going to take a protein supplement (usually comes in the form of a powdered shake) make sure that it is very high quality protein. Otherwise it will be useless and could do more harm to you body than good.

Whey protein vs. Soy protein: You will find that most protein supplements found in stores and on-line are whey protein. Whey Protein Isolate is the protein extracted from whey, the liquid by-product of cheese production.

There are some concerns you should be aware of that have to do with whey protein. For one, it is not a complete source of protein, it contains fat, and it contains lactose (potential issue for those who are intolerant).

There are many concerns about the milk source the whey came from: the health of the animal it came from, animal by-products, growth hormones, disease, pesticides, fertilizers, drugs etc. Some people are also allergic to dairy products.

Soy Protein Isolate, on the other hand, is protein that is extracted from the soybean, eliminating fats and certain acids. Overall, in my opinion, soy protein is much better than whey protein as a protein supplement source because it is natural and plant based, as opposed to animal based, which raises the same concerns as the whey products that I listed above.

However, there are some concerns with Soy Protein Isolate, so if you are going to buy a soy protein supplement it needs to be of the highest quality and purity. The source of the soy beans is important.

Are the soy beans organic, or fertilized and drugged? The processing methods used to make the soy protein can also adversely affect the potency and purity of the protein. Many companies process their soy protein too much, which prevents the retention of beneficial substances. Some people are also allergic to soy.

Many companies also alcohol-wash their soy flakes during production of things like soy milk, soy cheese, tofu, soy burgers, and even their soy protein supplements. Well not only do you not want to ingest something that has been washed with alcohol, this technique causes the loss of approximately 88% of the isoflavone conent.

What are isoflavones? Isoflavones are natural plant nutrients that mimic the function of human estrogen. Soy protein isolate should be water-washed, instead of alcohol washed, this ensures isoflavone content and is a cleaner, more natural way to clean and process the soy flakes.

There are a lot of kinds of protein supplements out there, but you need to make sure that you take the most natural form of plant-based protein supplement possible. I find that non-genetically modified soy protein works best for me.

Also make sure that you get sufficient amounts of protein from your diet. Do your research, even try a couple different kinds and pick what you feel works best for you.

Either way the company you buy your protein from should be able to give you all of the ingredients, tests, trials, and research to prove to you why their protein works the best. They also should offer a money back guarantee. If they can’t or don’t just don’t buy it because they are hiding something.

It is very unfortunate that most companies care about profit more than quality because it leaves us, the consumer, without much understanding as to what is best and with many products that are of little to no nutritional content to us. Usually the product with the best ads on the television, instead of quality, sells the most.

So don’t be easily persuaded and make sure that you read all of the research, ingredients, testing, and processing methods before you buy a protein supplement.

Whether you are an athlete, body builder, or just someone trying to get healthier, the amount and quality of protein you put in your body is of vital importance to your overall health and wellness.

What Is The Difference Between Vitamins And Minerals?

Posted by Dynamichealthtips in Supplements and Vitamins

Most people may realize that vitamins and minerals are two different things, but they probably do not know what vitamins and minerals their body needs and what they are good for. Vitamins, for example, are essential to life; regulate metabolism and assist the processes that release energy from digested food.

They also work with enzymes as co-enzymes, enabling the body to perform its activities, or build and feed cells. Vitamins are also either water soluble or fat soluble.

This is important because vitamins must have an effective way of being broken down within the body, otherwise they are not used and passed through the body. This is actually best evident in most vitamin pills or supplements you can buy in stores or on-line.

Most of these company’s vitamins are not water or fat soluble enough for the body to ever break them down. I often refer to them as vitamin bricks. While you think you are getting all of that vitamin C you are buying, it is probably passing right through you. This has often been referred to as “expensive pee.”

Just be careful and do your research. Like I said a reputable company will be able to provide you with information that proves that its vitamins are of the highest potency and purity and are very soluble.

So what are the fat soluble vitamins? They are: vitamin A, D, E, and K. Beta-carotene is also a fat soluble vitamin.

Fat soluble vitamins are stored in body tissues and require the presence of fatty acids in order to be transported and absorbed. Fat-free diets, for example interfere with the absorption of these vitamins and can create possible deficiencies.

What about water soluble vitamins? They are: B-complex, which consists of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12. Biotin, vitamin C, and Folic Acid are also water soluble vitamins.

Water soluble vitamins must be regularly consumed, and replenished within the body. Water soluble vitamins should be consumed or taken at divided times throughout the day. That is one reason it is best to eat a few small meals throughout the day than eat one or two giant meals.

Water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body, and therefore they are quickly depleted. Unlike animals, we cannot produce any Vitamin C in our bodies, therefore it is essential that you pay attention to how much vitamin C you are consuming, that is the only way your body will get enough to be healthy.

Well enough about vitamins, lets talk about minerals. Minerals are needed for the proper composition of body fluids. They are also needed for the building and formation of blood and bones as well as building and feeding cells.

The minerals you need are: Calcium, sodium, magnesium, boron, copper, cobalt, chromium, Iodine, sulpher, manganese, selenium, iron, vanadium, zinc, potassium, silicon, and phosphorus.

Minerals are needed in varying amounts and, like vitamins, are crucial to the body’s health. Minerals also give you sustained energy.

The best way to get your proper amount of vitamins and minerals is through your diet (vitamins and minerals are easily broken down within food). However, many of us do not have the time or money necessary to create a perfect diet for ourselves that contains just the right amount of vitamins and minerals.

That is why many people rely on supplements as well as their diet to give them the vitamins and minerals they need. But if you are going to buy any vitamin or mineral supplements you need to do your research and make sure they are of the highest quality, and most importantly that they are going to be broken down within your body and not just pass through you.

A good company will give you access to this information before you buy. You can make sure that the vitamin and mineral supplements you are buying are of highest quality by making sure that the company you buy from has a proven track record of success, plenty of testimonials, and a money back guarantee. If their products work they will guarantee them, otherwise they have something to hide.
