Pendant Lighting - Exploring Every Aspect Of This Versatile Lighting

Posted by BillNBPI in Accessories

Light plays a major role for us nowadays. In fact, it plays such a big role in our day-to-day activities that we should be eternally grateful to Thomas Edison for inventing the light bulb. To poetically put it, lights make us find our way in the dark. Lights and lighting have such a prevalent use for us nowadays that we now observe there are suitable types of lights for just about every thing and every corner of a house or a building. Lights can either be purchased for pure functionality, pure aesthetic appeal or both. There are various types of lights made available to us ever since it was first discovered, and there are lights that are particularly versatile and flexible in a way that it can appeal to consumers for both its functionality and its aesthetics.

Lighting is indeed something that is very pervasive in the world today, particularly with the continuing onset of more and more technological innovations. The great things, technology may be flourishing in leaps and bounds in other areas, but it ahs never diminished our need and want for lights and lighting. Because lighting is one of the most important aspects of a home, most people would naturally want to find a kind of lighting that will bring them a win-win situation, a kind of lighting that can cater to both functionality and aesthetics at the same time. one of the most popular kind of lighting, if not the most, that people turn to for this very reason is the pendant lighting.

Exploring pendant lighting: what is it?
You most probably know what a chandelier is. It is usually magnificently designed light that hangs from a ceiling. That is a kind of pendant light, and a chandelier can convey the idea of how pendant lighting works. Pendant lighting, put simply, is a lighting fixture consisting of suspended lights. Pendant lighting is usually attributed to general lighting or task lighting. General lighting refers to the function of the light in generally illuminating a room where it is placed. Task lighting, on the other hand, refers to a more specific kind of providing light. Task lights are usually placed in areas of a particular room, not for the rooms itself. They function to provide sources of light for these particular areas that will seem dim. Lights placed inside a kitchen cabinet, for example, are termed task lighting. This is the kind of lighting we use to carry out tasks more efficiently.

Pendant lighting: the Pros.

Flexible and versatile.
Pendant lighting is a lighting fixture that is both flexible and versatile. This is because it can be placed in almost every room in the house, like the living room, the kitchen, the stairways, the bedrooms and etc. Depending on their size, they can also be put in clusters or in singles. The big pendant lights are usually good for singles, while the smaller ones can have a more chic look by being in clusters.

Functional but aesthetically appealing, too.
We have established that pendant lighting fixtures are functional, as they are even commonly used for general and task lighting. This kind of lighting can be uses to serve as island light for a kitchen island or task lights under dim cabinets. The benefits of catering to a pendant lighting fixture, however, do not stop there. Pendant lighting is also aesthetically appealing. With regards to their design, they look chic and stylish and they give off the aura of softness and sparkle. This is why many people cater to pendant lighting.

Pendant lighting is indeed a versatile kind of lighting, so it comes as no surprise that it is the choice of many.

Pool Table Light - Purchase The Best Kind For Your Game Room

Posted by BillNBPI in Accessories

My grandfather loves to play billiards. I can not understand how one person could sit in front of a television and watch two people waiting for their turns to hit small balls in a table, but my grandfather certainly can. In fact, he sits in front of the television watching a pool game as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. Knowing how much grandfather loves to play and watch that game, it was the natural choice to give him a complete pool table set for his 76th birthday. We set up everything there was to set up with the pool table, including the lights. Yes, the pool table lights were one of our major considerations in setting up our pool table gift. Being 76 years old, my grandfathers eyesight is not as good as it was when he was still in his 20s, and so we made sure that he could play his beloved billiard game at any time of the day.

When I think of a game room, that first image that comes to my mind is a pool table. This is because all the game rooms I have seen in my life consist of pool tables, as much as the room size can hold. The game of pool may just be a game, but it is a game that needs light, just as with everything else. Pool table lights are especially helpful when the room where the pool table is in is dim. Pool table lights significantly help you in going through the game effectively and without doubt. For how can you be able to play it correctly without sufficient light?

Game rooms are the places people go to or the rooms that people wan built in their homes to be the places they hang out in to relive the stress of everyday responsibilities. Game rooms house amusement and challenges, and usually pool tables, so you have to consider some key points in choosing your pool table lights.

Just enough light.
Remember that the pool table lights are there to help you with your game, not deter you, and so make sure that the pool table lights you purchase will dispense enough light to make you play the game efficiently without being too bright for your eyesight.

Consider room factors.
How many pool tables do you have in your game room? What is the height of the ceiling from the surface of the pool table? What are the other decors inside the game room? These are some of the factors you need to consider in choosing your pool table lights. If you wish your pool table lights to encompass the number of pool tables you have, make sure you purchase a pool table light sufficient to give enough light for the number of pool tables. If you wish to have one set of pool table light for every pool table, then consider the height from the surface of the pool table to the ceiling and purchase a pool table light accordingly. Also consider the other decors inside the room where your pool table is placed, and make sure that the design, size and form of your pool table light will not overwhelm the other decor nor will it look odd.

A pool table light is important for a pool game, so make sure you purchase the best one for your pool table.

Getting Something Fresh And New With Contemporary Chandeliers

Posted by BillNBPI in Accessories

I just cannot believe that my daughter is finally moving out of the house. I still remember that when I first saw her, she was so little and very helpless. She would rely solely on me to feed her, change her diapers, rock her gently when she cries, and sing her a lullaby when she is sleepy. She was so tiny then. She would be our ultimate source of joy.

When she grew a little she would be dancing, running, playing around like there is no tomorrow. She would be climbing our bed and ask us to get up when the sun shines outside so we can take her for a walk. She also likes it when we bring her to the mall and she would be buzzing us to get her toys. She was a sweet angel who would come rushing on us when we get home from work. But then yeah, that was years ago.

Now, she is moving out to study arts in a college. She would have to be on her own because she is already a grown up. She would be out there with a new life of her own. Well, she will live there in a dormitory so it would be easier for her to get to school and work.

Yesterday, she was very busy packing things on her bag. She will bring almost everything that is in her closet. The bags are very full. She also shopped for some contemporary chandeliers. She said she would rather have these contemporary chandeliers because they give her a cozy feel of the room. She is into arts and she likes to try new things out.

I am a very traditional person and I do not think chandeliers could look so weird or what not. The contemporary chandeliers she brought were very radical in a great sense. Some looked like they were out in space, very artistic and radical. My, if my mother saw all these types of chandeliers, she would have a heart attack! These chandeliers were really something out of the traditional.

Maybe this is the primary reason why my daughter just loves them. She was so engrossed she bought five pieces of contemporary chandeliers which she will be placing in her room in the dormitory. She is such a fan!

Well, I think contemporary chandeliers are not as non conformist as I thought of them. I think they still serve the purpose of giving ambient lighting for dark rooms and empty spaces. Maybe these chandeliers just go on to prove that everything is ever changing and the only constant thing in life is change.

I was wrong to think my daughter would bring all the contemporary chandeliers she bought to the dormitory where she will be living for the next four years, she will leave the three pieces and put them to her room, to the attic and to the parlor, her favorite places in the house. She said they will leave these for us not to miss her at all.

Children’s Wallpaper - Whimsical Designs

In my typical home in Chicago I have two pretty typical children. Like the majority of parents we fight and wrestle and bribe to get our kids to straighten up and keep their rooms clean. Most of the time, what usually happens in my home is, I break down and wind up taking care of it myself. This happens a lot, until I got them involved in decorating their rooms. Our first project involved the walls.

Surveys show that what drives parents crazy are kids that neglect their rooms. Psychologists suggest that if children help design their surroundings they will respect them more and tend to take great care of them.

Many parents and kids are looking for that perfect back drop. More and more companies see this niche market and are keying in and creating more lines just for children’s rooms.

The origin in children’s wallpaper began around 1870 and continues today. Since their inception, the wallpaper designs have been strongly influenced by literature and pop culture. The earliest works had strong religious and moral overtones. Later in the 19th century you saw more wallpaper designs stressing the importance of good behavior. In the 20th century the wallpaper has become lighter in tone and feature more engaging content. Papers have been manufactured to illustrate favorite literature, nursery rhymes, comic strip characters and works of fiction. Some examples of these are Mother Goose, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella.

There are many well known artists and designers that have helped shape the wallpaper designs. Some of these famous people are Walter Crane, Beatrix Potter, Cecil Aldin and William Wegman.

Today’s wallpaper is designed to educate, stimulate and amuse. Most children’s wallpaper uses a sophisticated color palette, but possess a childlike whimsy. Most combine graphic patterns, prints, stripes, solids that are playful and friendly. They create a storybook world with happy endings. They provide a safe and inspirational dream world for kids to escape to. It culminates into a positive room concept.

When my son was just a toddler I choose a wallpaper border. This was easily changed and removed as he grew. What I did was place it at his eye level and as he grew I kept replacing it and moving it higher up on the wall.

Another one of our choices was called frames. This wallpaper allowed my son to interact with the wallpaper. It consisted of freely drawn picture frames on a plain white background. My son created his own unique designs by coloring in the frames. Who knows maybe he will become the next Michelangelo!

One of my son’s friends had Lego wallpaper in his room. This was a big hit and a must see. You could actually place and arrange the easily detachable wall covering on any surface you desire. How creative is that?

You should always choose your paper for what type of surface is being covered. Ask yourself, is the wall smooth or rough? Also some papers stain easily and can get dirty quickly. This may not be the right choice for a Child’s room. Make certain you choose wallpaper that is easy to clean and maintain.

Some papers that are available are vinyl coated paper, paper backed vinyl, fabric backed vinyl, silk, grass cloth, flocked and foils. The average price for a single roll is about sixteen dollars. But you can find them for less or more expensive.

There are thousands of themes and just to name a few there are animals, floral, sports, nursery characters, sesame street characters and lovable critters. Remember the main objective is to fit your Child’s personality and interests. This will inspire your child’s imagination and instill the respect in he or she that the parents desire.

After choosing the wallpapers, please take special attention in preparing the walls. There is nothing more important. Wallpapers and borders do best with a primer and a smooth finish on the walls. This helps the installation and makes it easier to remove at a later date.

Take a moment and relive the time when the world was an abundance of curious adventures that awaited you. You have the power and incentive to turn your child’s room into a creation of magic. Start your search today so you can find the peace that you are after.

Award Plaque - A Star Of Tribute

I’m sitting at a formal dinning table amongst my peers. We are at a banquet hall and there are hundreds of people talking to each other, while at the same time delving into their food. The lighting is dim but in the middle of the room there is a stage with a spot light shinning brightly. There is a speaker in the center who is mixing jokes with sincerity and the attributes of speeches of the many attendees. I am present at my company’s award ceremony that honors the few who have surpassed the goals that were set before them.

At the end of each presentation, as they are called on stage for congratulations, they are given an award plaque for remembrance of this major event of their life. This award plaque is a more tangible and permanent means of giving credit and value to the person who has performed beyond expectations. It is an effective way to acknowledge their contributions and value. Employee awards have become the standard way of doing business.

The word plaque comes from the 19th century which means ornamental plate or tablet. An award plaque is always attractive and is made to be displayed on a recipient’s wall. It represents prestige and shows high appreciation for that individual or group.

An award plaque can be for rewarding employees, team mates, organizations, volunteers or family members. It is for anyone that a mere “Thank You” just isn’t sufficient. Most award plaques are composed of meaningful personalized message that can latterly bring tears of joy to the recipient eyes.

Some award plaques can have inspirational or famous quotes. These would be related to success, leadership, creativity and knowledge. One of my friends is a sales manager for a large company. He has a crystal award plaque hanging proudly on his wall in the den. Upon it is a quote by Thomas Edison. Proudly it reads “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety nine percent perspiration.”

They come in many styles, shapes, sizes, materials and finishes. These high quality plaques are perpetual, photo, custom, engraved and all occasion. Some of the materials that they are made from are wood, acrylic, crystal, Lucite, stainless steel, bronze, pewter, marble, slate and brushed aluminum. Types of engraving services include laser etching, mechanical engraving, sand carving, photographic etching, silkscreen imprinting and die casting.

Engraved plaques are a work of art. Recipients can tell how much thought was taken from the words that are inscribed. Hand engraved plaques are more expensive but are very authentic and rustic. Machine engraved has largely replaced hand worked plaques. They are less expensive and they produce images accurately and effortlessly. Laser engraving has truly changed the face of engraved plaques. Laser engraving is a precision art that allows the engraver to burn text, pictures and high detailed images right on the plaque.

Perpetual plaques feature a larger header plate with additional smaller plates. They also feature a company’s logo and are the choice for donors or recognition awards.

Some plaques have paper certificates mounted on the plaque using high quality photo paper. Some varieties for finishes are walnut, mahogany, marbleized and black ash. These finishes display a distinguished look to there character. They are all durable and sturdy and can be kept in perfect condition for a life time.

The right award serves as a positive emotional reinforcement. Memories of great accomplishments will never fade away due to these treasured awards.

Swaying With A Chandelier

Posted by BillNBPI in Accessories

I am here, sitting in our couch. I am just glad there is not much work to do. It had been quite a stressful week in school. I really had a hard time dealing with my professors. They were all so demanding. Would you believe I never had slept the past days?

My dear teachers and instructors are cramming because the exam week will be due soon. What they wanted to do is to discuss matters and have the lessons in an n extremely fast pace. Just the other day I went to school with no sleep at all. My eyes are blackening and my eye bags are growing more and more.

Seems that was not yet enough, our Science professor assigned a project, an impossible to pass project at that. Would you be able to run your electric motor for two straight hours using your 2 V batteries? Definitely not! It was impossible I tell you! It must be his happiness to see students failing. You know, he likes it when his students fail because his subject, Physics, is very difficult to pass because of his impossible demands. He would laugh his heart out and act like he has emerged victorious. He likes it when his evil plans are happening. And the poor little students, afraid of failing would be begging him for another chance.

Well, I am just glad that the week is finally over. And finally I could begin reading Nicholas Sparks novel A Walk To Remember. I have always wanted to read this novel but since school had been pressing me to push my patience further I have to forget about reading this book.

So I lie here in the couch reading through every line. I am trying to understand how every event leads to the tragic but still happy ending. I was so engrossed by the novel I have not noticed it is starting to get dark. I realized it is almost night time. I folded one page and turned on the chandelier just hanging above the couch. I really love this chandelier because the light it gives off is not annoying. With the fluorescent and light bulbs, I get so annoyed by the light. It kind of irks me at times because the light seems to reflect in the book pages especially the glossy ones making it hard to read.

The chandelier however, just seems to get the place a little more conducive for reading. You do not have to be irritated by the very bright light because the chandelier would give you that shady light something like that of the sun during sun rise or sunset.

I was glad mom brought the chandelier and got rid of those fluorescent lamps because reading had been so easy. In fact the chandelier gives you that romantic feeling. I do not know. Maybe there is something about the light that the chandelier gives that seems to get you more in love and romantic. Maybe the chandeliers light creates a more nostalgic ambiance which is very sweeping when you read romantic stuff.
