Why You Need To Embrace Failure

Posted by Dagger234 in Motivational / Inspirational

You ever see those people who succeed in everything they try? I sometimes wonder if this is just an illusion. For instance, a former upline member seemed to possess this quality. There was nothing he couldn’t do. Every ad he placed netted him at least 3 or 4 downline members. When I asked him about his golden touch, however, he just laughed.

He read to me a list of all the books he’d read. They ranged from marketing to personal development to copywriting. He told me of all the seminars he’d attended.

Still, after all that work, he fell flat on his face repeatedly for years. All he learned from books and seminars was just theory. The real learning doesn’t happen until you get out there and do it.

He related to me his multiple failures. Entire downlines quitting. Surprisingly, though, he told me he never even once seriously considered giving up. What he told me is something I’ll never forget. He said that of all those seminars and books that he’d read, his most effective teacher was failure.

When I thought about it, I could definitely relate. My first marriage ended mostly because of neglect. On my part. I was a loner, and never showed any interest in changing my ways. Needless to say, the marriage didn’t last very long. I learned.
Today, I’m very conscious of my wife’s needs, and am always here for her.

I look at failure as a process of elimination. If I fail at something, I look at my approach and recognize that that’s the wrong way to achieve my objective. Does that mean I can’t do it? Of course not. I just can’t do it that way. This is where your creative juices start to flow, which is nothing but good.

When I was a personal trainer, I used to teach people to lift to failure. That just means lift the weight as many times as you can until you physically cannot do one more rep. This gives you realistic idea about your true abilities. If you don’t push your limits, how do you know how far you can actually go? Yet, if you do push your limits, eventually, you’ll fail. Which is a good thing. Right?

If you fear failure or rejection you’ll never really know your limitations. You will have imposed false boundaries, and never reach your true potential. You will always wonder, “What if?”

People who fail constantly, and learn from those failures are some of the strongest people I’ve ever met. They’re the true pioneers. They’re the bushwackers who lead the way, getting slapped in the face by branches and stumbling over rocks. Sometimes they fall. But if they come this way again, they’ll not only be able to avoid the same hazards, they’ll also lead others down the path of least resistance.

If you don’t fail, you don’t learn, and you don’t really live life at all. If all we did was succeed, we’d learn nothing, and our character would be extremely weak.

Seek out opportunities to fail. In the long run, you’ll be glad you did.

Why You Are Not Getting What You Want

Posted by Mercedes in Motivational / Inspirational

Have you gone on countless personal development courses, read plenty of books, watched the videos and your life is still not showing the improvements your had hoped for? You are not alone.

After a workshop or after reading a great book you probably feel energised, uplifted and inspired, but in the face of the daily stress these emotional highs tend not to last long. Back to your daily routine, the boss is still an inconsiderate self oppressed individual, your kids are a challenge and your spouse is stressed and overwhelmed with work problems.

These are the realities we all face. I too spent years on courses, reading books in search of a tool that would work. It took me years to figure out that my problems had very little to do with what was going on around me. I did not realise just to what extend I was simply feeding off the energies of other people when I was attending personal development courses. Yes, I would come away a reformed person full of great ideas of how I would change my life around.

All these good intentions lasted until the moment I encountered a challenge. I went through a period in my life where I had nothing but challenges. My marriage fell apart, my beloved father died and I lost heaps in commodity trading. Not a pretty picture.

People would tell me to relax and chill out. Whenever I heard that advice I was ready to pounce. There was a lot of unresolved anger inside me. This anger prevented me from seeing how I was making things harder on myself than they needed to be, thus fuelling my frustration, stress and sense of overwhelm as my life simply was not going the way I had planned.

Through regular meditation and EFT and the study of the workings of the mind I came to realise that relaxation is the key. When you relax your mind goes into an alpha state. The slower brain waves allow you to observe what you are thinking and how your thoughts, based on your beliefs, have consequences.

Once you become aware how you produce thoughts that are counter productive to the outcomes you desire you will eventually stop them. You cannot carry on behaving in ways that are producing negative results. It is against your nature. Alas, you first need to be aware of how you produce these thoughts. Self awareness gives you power. It gives you power over yourself and thus over your life.

You can learn to relax and maintain an alpha state of mind for longer and longer periods. When you learn to stand back and learn to witness yourself from the outside, your brain waves slow down. You become more aware of your thinking. Self awareness gives you choices and that is why it is so important that you develop the skill of expanding your cognitive awareness.

In an alpha state you will notice how you do common stress behaviours, like procrastination, or lack problem solving abilities by focusing incorrectly without realising it. Use energy techniques, like Micro EFT and EFT and learn how your mind is made up of different personalities. Play with these techniques regularly and you will notice how you get more and more often what you want in your life

Massimo Ranieri Inspires In Life & Business: I Sing Because I Don’t Know How To Swim

Posted by Mcowan in Motivational / Inspirational

“I sing because I don’t know how to swim,” says Massimo Ranieri, one of Italy’s most popular romantic pop singers in the title of his newest CD. My singing resembles a crow squawking, so I swim because I don’t know how to sing!

I first heard Massimo sing when I lived in Italy in 1978 and now play his CDs often at home in Vancouver. Last May in Bologna on one of my bi-annual trips to Italy, I sat in the third row at his sold out concert. His absolutely top notch performance blew me away, inspired me and gave me some big ah-has.

Are you doing work you like and want to keep doing it with tons of energy and heart for years to come? Just follow Massimo’s example.

To start the concert, he burst on stage, belting out a song of a long lost love, “If the city were burning, I’d run to you. If the city were burning, I know you’d look for me even after our goodbye.”

At that moment, I thought, “Who would I look for?” Right away the face of one of my long lost loves popped into my mind. Oh my! Who would you look for?
Massimo’s been singing “Se Bruciasse La Citta, If The City Were Burning” for 40 years. But that night he sang it and all his songs and moved and danced with 100% of his energy and heart as if he were singing them for the first time. How did he do it?

First, he really made us in the audience feel a personal connection with him. I felt a lot of affection and high energy filling that big theatre. He told us stories from his life that made me feel I was getting to know him as a person. Stories about growing up in a poor part of Naples as the 5th of 8 kids who were expected from about age 7 to bring home money every day to help feed the family.

He comes across as a down to earth, authentic, very likeable guy so you almost feel he’s a friend sharing his stories with you over coffee.

He paints clear pictures and uses every day words. You can see him, about age 8, singing to diners at a Neapolitan restaurant by the sea who threw coins in the water. Little boys dove for the coins and teased him, “If you don’t sing, we’ll throw you in the water.” Terrifying for a kid who couldn’t swim, so he sang and sang.

With one of his long time hits, he joked with us, “We’re not 35 any more, are we?” and we all nodded and smiled. Then he held his mike out toward us and the whole audience sang the chorus of a song from 20 years ago together with our hero.

What could you do to help your clients or friends feel more connected with you?

Second, his five star concert wowed us: his singing, dancing, all female orchestra and dance troup, special guests and the creative yet elegantly simple stage sets.

Just before intermission he introduced a 12 year old boy, a champion tap dancer, who astonished me with his fast steps, physical agility and artistic style. Later Massimo and the boy danced a long duet where Massimo followed the boy’s every dance move exactly! A jaw dropping performance. Easy to forget he’s 57.

Massimo has performed the same concert about 200 times throughout Italy in the last 18 months. Why this exhausting schedule away from home so much, performing the same songs ad nauseum?

My answer came at the end during thunderous applause with people yelling, “Sei grande Massimo! You’re great Massimo.” He stood still at the front of the right side of the stage with his eyes closed, facing the audience with his arms wrapped across his chest like he was hugging himself. He was taking in all the applause!

After all these years, he still craves applause, like most of us do. As Mother Teresa said, “There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread.”

Massimo makes his fans feel a big affection for him and dazzles them with a first class performance so they heap their appreciation on him. An appreciation that’s fed his energy and his heart for 40 years. Plus clearly he’s doing what he loves and radiates his passion through his high energy.

I asked myself, “How could I do that in my business that I love?”

Now I’m personally visiting with more of our clients, telling more of my stories to our clients, am working on wowing our clients more, and making sure I reach every tour client by phone after they experience our services. I’m seeing more clients enjoying our services and hearing their appreciation more which feeds my energy.

Why have I kept on my own business heart path all these years? Because I don’t know how to sing!

Understand How The Universe Works And Discover Your True Purpose

Posted by Mercedes in Motivational / Inspirational

Finding your true purpose is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Some of us spend a lifetime never finding it.

Once you get the real truth about you though, you will have found the thing that gives you inner peace, balance and purpose. It is the sweet spot from which strength, determination, passion and creative talent emanate.

I could argue that it has never been more important than in our stressful times of major change to find your inner light. Let’s be honest, the changes the world is experiencing right now affect all of us. They are the warning lights that alert us to look at ourselves in a new light and rediscover ourselves from a new vantage point.

I have said many a time before that no one can escape the evolutionary process of existence. It is an ongoing process that is with us all the time, often working away quietly in the background. We are so preoccupied with our outside world, seeing just the surface of what is happening that we miss the additional dimensions of our existence.

When change reaches a crescendo of heightened alert we must take notice though. The old rules we have made for ourselves and our world are becoming obsolete. Our operating systems are demanding a broader more enlightened vista. The cosmos demands its birthright, it has to evolve to the next level.

This process, which we experience as unnerving world chaos, after all is only natural. There is no disaster out there which we must meet with fear and resistance. Quite on the contrary. When we react to our outside world through the lens of our conditioning, judgment and our very limited perspectives we miss the all important truths that are staring us in the face.

We lose sight of the fact that we are all part of the same universal stuff and part of the whole.
When we react out of fear and are in judgement we are separating ourselves from the universe. We are going against the natural forces.

Since we are the universe, we are going against ourselves, literally attacking our own being with fear, anger and resistance. We are destroying the very thing we want to save. All this keeps happening over and over again because we have a totally misguided view of our ultimate reality and how the cosmic forces of which we are an integral part, work.

Once you understand how the universe works and how you are integral and a part of this you will realise that our actions are insane. They increase the chaos in our world, because we are doing everything possible to hold on to our safe world views. Our misguided actions are virtually attempting to stop evolution.

How can we possibly find our true purpose in that mental confusion? We believe that we have to be something that society demands of us. The way we view ourselves has not changed for hundreds of years, We look to the outside to find the inside.

Gradually however, the realisation is dawning on more and more people that this flawed concept is actually holding us back, causing wars, illness and many other problems. Actually, the people who rule our world assume that A plus B equals E and they continue to build our society on this wrong concept. This dichotomy is creating tension we are presently experiencing.

The universe will always evolve, whether you accept or not. We are but a tiny part of the larger whole. Does it not make sense that we began to accept this all pervasive truth and started looking at our lives with that truth in mind?

If we do, a very new picture begins evolving. You cannot help but let go of the ridiculous anger, resentment and fear you believe you feel when you look at the world around you. You begin to understand your own part in the entire process and see it in a new light.

If you allow the resistance to fall away and let acceptance take over, the veils that have clouded your vision of yourself will fall away. The newly released energy is a powerful force that can drive you to new unprecedented heights and levels of fulfillment and success. Allow the oneness permeate you.

If this concept is too intellectual for now, adopt the practice of mediation to still your mind and learn energy techniques to balance body and mind.Techniques like EFT and Micro EFT will put your mind in a receptive alpha state. You want to practice techniques that let you experience this state on a regular basis, because: “To a mind that is still the whole universe surrenders.” (Chang Tsu)

Who’s Going To Be The Next Irish Millionaire?

Posted by AskSteVey in Motivational / Inspirational

In my career, as a big event promoter I’ve met a lot of wealthy, and extremely wealthy people and would like to share the ten most common traits that I’ve noticed in the people who have become most financially successful, so that you can begin your journey to becoming Ireland’s next Millionaire.

1. They make decisions - they don’t talk about it, they decide either way and move ahead. As the old saying goes, would you rather be glad you did or wish you had,

2. Come up with an idea - this is where all the money in the world comes from. People who have money have all benefitted from good ideas in some shape or form. Consider McDonalds, Microsoft, Google, Ebay you name it. They all began with an idea, and by acting on your own ideas you too can begin to make your fortune,

3. Formulate a plan - a bad plan is better than no plan, or as Roy Keane put it during his famous spat with Mick McCarthy, ex Manager of the Ireland squad “by failing to prepare, we were preparing to fail.”
Figure out the steps that you’re going to need to take to get to where you want to go, roughly how long its going to take, and who do you need to get onboard to help you,

4. Take action, do something, get started - the best ideas in the world don’t mean anything or count for anything, unless you act upon them. Action is the secret ingredient to major success in life, and if you look around to those who are successful in your own community, it is extremely likely that you will notice that are always in motion, always active,

5. Observe what happens next - by getting into motion you are developing a prerequisite for success. This doesn’t mean that you’re going to make a hole in one with your first shot though, so pay attention to the results you’re getting. Find out what you need to be measuring in order to know if you’re succeeding or failing,

6. Correct, adapt, improve, increase - when you’re succeeding you will want to gently improve things to further increase your results. If you’re not, the sooner you notice and begin to make changes the better. Sometimes the difference between success and failure can be ever so slight,

7. Manage your stuff - whatever it is that you want in life, you must manage it. Good health requires a balance of work, relaxation, exercise and nutritous food. Financial success requires healthy positive cashflow that exceeds outgoings, and an excellent understanding of your own individual personal financial circumstances. The key is in paying atention to whatever it is that you want more of,

8. Persist - as Winston Churchill put it - “Never give up. Never give up. Never give up.” it doesn’t get much clearer than that. To succeed you simply must persist, and its only when the going is tough that you will ever truly test this ability,

9. Reinvest/Diversify - When the profits start rolling in what are you going to do now. Sit down and figure it out. How much goes where, back into the business, into your pocket, to charity wherever. Get a smart plan that will ensure the longevity of your success,

10. Celebrate - A life worth living is a life worth celebrating. By celebrating your victories, however small you will get the opportunity to celebrate more of them.

I wish you luck!

Law Of Attraction: Are Your Feelings Fake?

Posted by WizardOfWisdom in Motivational / Inspirational

There’s a host of law of attraction teachers from Louise Hay to pre-Biblical prophets screaming one message at us:

Your feelings come first!

But the question that comes up in many forums and law of attraction workshops is this one:

“Isn’t it “phoney” to pretend that what I want is here when it actually isn’t?”

My personal take on this is that the question you must always ask first when confronted with lack is not “What shall I do?” but - MUCH more important, “How shall I BE?”

I recently turned my finances around with this very technique - when work dried up, I realised that the state to be in was “resourceful” - not panic stricken - and new work, (from a completely new source), turned up the very next day!

It’s not phoney if you accept (= choose to believe) that what you are seeing “now” is in fact the product of what you have produced in the past, (from your previous set of beliefs & feelings). In other words there’s a time lag.

It’s as if what you are seeing today is what you “recorded” yesterday, and what you will see tomorrow is what you are “recording” now.

If you focus on what’s here today and look at all the un-manifested stuff, tomorrow you’ll see the “screening” of more un-manifested stuff!

(I use today, tomorrow and yesterday somewhat metaphorically to indicate “recent past”, “now”, and “soon”).

The “real” reality is in your head, not in what you perceive as your outside world! Therefore, it’s not “phoney” because it’s all a product of your feelings and beliefs anyway!

Secondly, if you read the Abraham-Hicks material, (excellent!), you will see that they often advise not trying to go from a very negative emotional state to a very positive one in one hop. Someone in despair is unlikely to be able to feel joyous in the next moment.

Instead they advise reaching for the next best feeling state - e.g. anger is better than hopelessness because anger is at least active! (Not that they’re advising that you stay angry - it’s just a step on the ladder!)

The Law Of Attraction Principle is to reach for the next thought that would give relief!

The beautiful thing about this is, you can!

You have the power to choose what to think about and what to focus on. Whilst most other creatures seem to be slaves to their instincts, we have the capacity to observe our instinctive responses and to control our minds.

Doesn’t that strike you as at least odd, if not utterly fascinating?

Why, then would you choose to focus on all the negativity in the world and your own life when you can notice how much is right?

I asked a close friend who was complaining about her struggles with her job and finances what qualities she wanted from an ideal life.

Her answers included feeling appreciated every day and being able to offload without being judged - things that were most definitely not happening in her office!

I asked her to consider if there was anywhere in her life that that was happening. It took her about two seconds to exclaim, “My dog! My beautiful dog gives me that every day!”

A simple shift in focus showed her she was already rich in departments she had felt impoverished in only a moment before. She was then able to use the Law Of Attraction by focussing on the positives in her life, (so she felt better), and within four months she had a completely new job and new home that she loves!

If you want the law of attraction to work in your life, it’s simple - work it. You can either feel the feelings of what you want but which is not yet here, or feel good by doing as my friend did and reaching for “appreciation” or “gratitude”.

Not doing so is like complaining that you can’t see your favourite television programmes even though you have electricity in your home.

Yes, you have the power, but had you thought to buy a television set? And plug it in?

The source energy - the power of the law of attraction - is there whether you harness it or not. Just choose how you want to operate it in your life, and it will deliver.

Now, go and feel good about having everything you think is missing - because today’s movie in your mind becomes tomorrow’s reality!
