The 5 Bad Effects Of Procrastination

Posted by Rhusain in Motivational / Inspirational

Sometimes we do not realize that by keeping or pending the works is not good for ourselves. It will affect many aspects of our lives. In this article we will learn the effect of procrastination, and how to keep ourselves motivated.

Five bad effects of procrastination:
1. A feeling that a job has been left undone is bad for our morale
2. Unfinished jobs leave a lot of clutter around which affects our efficiency.
3. Putting things off means accumulating jobs and urgency could crop up on the same day.
4. Procrastination when it comes to the notice of other people maybe branded as laziness and lack of interest in the job.
5. The job becomes more unpleasant the more you postpone it.

The only thing that you need to get straight is that you have to do the job any way so why not do it right now. Do not wait for that day when-you-will-have-more-time. It will never come. The chances are that you will be busier tomorrow than you are today. Most of those jobs that we procrastinate are the-sooner-done-the-better kind. And the sigh of relief that escapes from our lungs once the job is done and over is worth it.

All it takes is some will power, make up your mind to do a task and then do it while your mind stay made up, and believe me, the human mind does not stay made up for too long.

But then, there is a chance that you might be confronted with a strange feeling, you might start finding your job to be monotonous and boring and that is what we are going to deal with in our next chapter.

Just look around you, it is a beautiful world out there. Life is wonderful provided you have the time and can afford to sit back and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. This is a feeling that hits us every now and then. And then when we realize that we have to be confined within the floor walls of our office, doing some work that has no scope for imagination, we end up depressed.

Every job loses its charm after some time if nothing out of the way is done to make the job interesting. To make things worse, there are too many distractions around us. We end up thinking that this is not the job that I wanted to be doing. And when we realize that we will be doing this same job probably till the end of our lives, we will want to scream.

It is a human tendency to get bored with something after some time. When we get a new job, ten for the first couple of weeks we are like the peasant boy who walked into a new palace. Every thing is new and interesting and our interest is completely captured. We try to learn things as quickly as possible and are eager to impress and prove to the world that we are perfect for the job. But after a few months we get used to everything and slowly everything begins to lose the charm. We get bored and start looking for greener pastures.

It is at this stage that procrastination starts raising its villainous head. If the tasks that we are doing are repetitive ad monotonous, the picture becomes bleaker. Along with this, if the requires that we remain on toes all day long, and then the future is sealed. It is in such situations that we need to keep ourselves motivated.

Know The Effect Of Tardiness In Your Schedule

Posted by Rhusain in Motivational / Inspirational

Have you ever feel so uneasy when you delegate work to somebody and that person did not do the work on your time. Or you have to wait for 15 minutes or half hour in your appointment. Are you the type of person who keeps others waiting. Find out on how tardiness can also effect your schedule.

It goes without saying that tardiness is a no-no in any professional establishment. Even if you are standing at a booking office or in a queue and you notice that the person in front of you is taking his or her own sweet time, you might start counting to ten so that you do not lose your temper.

Most of us cannot tolerate slowness. Sometimes even if the person who is taking a long time is a senior citizen and is incapable of making haste we produce a range of sounds to show our exasperation.

So we have so much impatience with others, how much patience wills others have with us. I believe that there are three groups of people in this world. They are:

1.The people who always are on time
2.The people who make an honest effort but more often than once fail to reach on time
3.The group of people who make a living by selling used toothpicks.

Actually there is no group like the third group. The people who really come in that group are the people who do not make any effort at all to be on time. But then they cannot be considered as people at all and are better off selling used toothpicks and my blessings into the bargain.

I used to find it very difficult to believe that there could actually be people who did not care two hoots for time. But there are. I do not know about you, but I really believe that people who consciously waste their time and because of them, the time of others as well, are real criminals. They should be made to walk the plank. While the rest of us are struggling so hard to make the maximum use of the time that we have, there are people who do not care a damn about things like being late or making others wait.

I suppose most of us fit into the second category that is the group of people who do make an honest effort to reach on time and do things on time but often fail mainly due to reasons beyond our control. So is there any way out of this? Of course there is and that is what we are going to talk about.

The first thing that we have to do is to develop a deep concern for the time of others. Of course we have the liberty to waste our time.(I consider even that wrong , but opinions may be different). But we have no right to waste the time of others. It is just very, very bad manners to keep a person waiting. It shows inconsideration and selfishness on our part.

Once you instill this thought deep into your mind there is a lesser chance that you will keep another person waiting because we all want other to think and speak good about us.

The second thing that you have to do is understand that if you are late for something that involves more than one person than the severity of the situation ids raised several fold. Like for instance you are late for a meeting that involves, say, 12 people and they are waiting for you reach to begin the meeting.

You might be just five minutes late. That seems ok enough because five minutes is not such a big deal. But a crucial point that you may be missing out there is that it not just five minutes that is wasted. Since there are 12 people who are waiting for you, you are in effect wasting.

Don’t Wait! Celebrate!

Posted by Srana25 in Motivational / Inspirational

We usually give ourselves permission to celebrate our fondest victory after we have achieved it. This is a perfectly logical and sensible way to behave–but it is all wrong!

The proof of the absurdity of this sequence is that your victories are probably few and far between and only the result of the most heroic effort.

Gedanken is a German word that means thoughts. It’s what Einstein called his famous thought experiments. We are going to make our own Gedanken to show how modifying the standard rules of celebration affect the game of life.

Imagine you are the new coach of your local soccer team. You have 12 practice sessions to go before you meet the first team in the tournament. Unfortunately, the team you are playing against happen to be last year’s champions. In addition, to make things worse, your team are last year’s biggest losers. To put pressure on you, if your team doesn’t win the tournament, you will get fired. Since you really, really need the job, because you have to keep your house from falling into foreclosure, you know you just have to win. In fact, the only reason you got this job in the first place is because no-one else was even willing to take on the job.

The only positive thing you can see right now is that you are being well-paid and the owner of the team has given you carte blanche to use any psychological or training procedure you like.

What are you going to do with this unrestricted power to act at your own discretion?

After your first practice game, you decide to celebrate a mock victory. Although your team is a bunch of losers, they are a congenial lot and really get into going ape wild in the locker room in mock celebration.

You do the same thing, week after week.

What is going to happen?

The pleasure of winning will become entrenched in their nervous system. Each practice of victory will bathe each team member’s nervous system with an exhilarating rush of endorphins, enkephalins, catecholamines and serotonin to make them brighter. Their brain will respond to this stimulation and over time each brain will develop a more advanced neural network.

Besides the neurochemical transfiguration that is going on within them, they will also be increasing their vibrational levels and exciting the law of attraction to work in their favor.

In addition, they will train with more enthusiasm, enhance their skills sets, and work in a spirit of harmony.

The combination of neuro-stimulation, raising their vibrational levels, and the obvious expansion of skill and group coordination will drown at any vestiges of fear and doubt from their previous debacle and create a group consciousness of irresistible success.

When you unleash them during the first playoff, they will mow down the opposition, because that team will be complacent while yours will be highly motivated and empowered with well-honed skill sets.

Their first celebration in the locker room will be a highly-emotional experience as the realization of the cybernetic transposition between the past and the present experience sinks in.

This flow state will continue throughout the rest of the tournament and the probability of your winning it will be very high indeed.

Now how does this apply to you and your life?

Imagine that you are the head coach of your own sub-ego states. In the past, you have encountered defeat in achieving your desired goal. The team, in other words, is not in really good shape. However, through repeated mock celebrations, you will have completely routed out any opposition to victory.

You will attain your goal, whatever it is; no matter how many times you may have failed before.

In summary: a simulation of joy and a rehearsal of intended victory will create a completely new neuropsychological force in your life. When you practice the change you hope to see in your life, you will reach a point where it will be your experience.

Take Advantage Of Audio Books For Better Time Management

Posted by Birdam in Motivational / Inspirational

Many of my friends, regardless of whether they are working or busy at home taking care of kids, never have the time to sit down and read their favourite book.

Work can tire you out as well and by the time you sit down, you just want to lie on your bed and start dozing off.

Many of us buy a lot of books but never had the chance to complete reading the book and some did not even have the chance to take the book out from the shopping bag even!

Does it sound familiar to you? We simply cannot find time to sit down and read a good book. This is not a good excuse and we all know it.

Have you ever wondered why the successful people are always busy and yet accomplish more things than the average man? Their secret lies in good time management. They maximize the use of their time even while they travel, jog or do other repetitive menial tasks that require less mental power.

During these times, they practice active listening to enrich themselves using audio books. How is this possible?

We can explain it by the analogy of riding a bicycle. When you are an experienced cyclist, you do not constantly think about how your legs should move and how your hands will turn. All these limb movements simply happen naturally, as if your subconscious mind is in control. You conscious brain can work on something else in this respect.

Audio books, being portable, fit in well with our modern day busy lifestyles. With an audio book, the narrator does the reading while the listener immerses himself in the information presented to him over voice and can still do other things. Indeed, it is multitasking in action!

In fact, audio books do offer other advantages over normal hardcover or paperback books. An obvious benefit is that they are more cost effective to produce than hardcover and paperbacks. Nature conservationists love books in audio format because it puts forth their notion to save more trees and keep planet Earth better than it is today.

Unlike reading a book which requires lighting, listening to an audio book can be done in the dark. This is ideal for settings where no lights are available or turning on lights might cause disturbances to those around you e.g. in air flights, camping tents and bedrooms at night. Just imagine your spouse can have her good night sleep while you can still enjoy what the audio book you are listening and keeping you awake has to offer.

While there is no great deal of time saved if you compare selecting the exact track you want to listen to flipping through several pages in the case of hardcover or paperback books, this functional feature should not be overlooked. It is only in darkness that one realizes its benefit lies in the ease of accessing the desired content to listen.

And how about a change in the way you tell bedside stories to get your kids to sleep? With an audio book you can simply play it for them until they fall asleep. Try it, you can possibly save the time you spend reading to your kids each night before they sleep!

Audio books that are specifically created for children are more fun than your reading can be. You probably were not trained to talk like the big bad wolf in the Little Red Riding Hood, right? But most of the narrators of children’s audio books were trained to read in ways children love.

I can go on and on telling you the benefits of audio books as a way to make effective use of your “dead” time. If you just a minute to visualize this…

With audio books you can now save that extra time you spend reading a chapter on your favorite motivational book each morning before you leave for work. Apart from saving extra time, you are gaining extra knowledge in the process.

You can simply put it on to play while you prepare for work or even play it in your car on your way to work.

No wonder children, adults and even oldies have fallen head over heels in love with audio books. Why shouldn’t they? You should as well.

Not only that, with the incredible advantage of listening to your favorite book instead of reading it, the popularity of audio books has now gone through the roof. There are now more and more book titles with audio book versions. Audio books are becoming a lucrative market for many working professionals, students and parents.

Start Developing Your Self-Confidence: Forget About Your Fears

Posted by Ilove2write in Motivational / Inspirational

Self-confidence development is a matter of knowing first where you stand. Your terrain must be clear so your brain will be given the paths to restoring your self-esteem.

You can not direct yourself to a destination if you do not know where your footing is. You have to know where you are before you even get to your desired point.
No one on this earth is perfect. How stupid of us to even think that everyday must be a perfect day.
That we must be flawless. That we should live our lives and not worry about a single thing. Who ever planted that dumb idea anyway?

People often chat rubbish. Whatever motivates them surely had some fine reasons to make them think that perfection would answer it all.

It is of course quite okay to be perfect. There is no harm if you can accomplish that, but the thing is, can anyone truly accomplish it? You are risking too much when you do. We are not saying that you should leave the thought of perfection and be all the way imperfect and leave your life far from the main road.

When your idea of perfection restricts you to doing what you are supposed to do, this is no longer becoming helpful. You are sure to be frustrated.

Sometimes it is good to fall flat on your face. Get up and fall, get up and fall. There is nothing wrong with that. This may have been an over used line yet we still can find value in it- “we learn from mistakes”. Yes indeed, we really learn from our mistakes.

It may be an painful thought to watch yourself jump and fall. But this is the only way from which you can learn and make you get over your fear of failing.

Failures are cruel but fearing your failures is silly. Failing is unavoidable, it is a part of our daily existence. Even the best people fall sometimes. And even the smartest and most beautiful people are laughed at with their thoughts and their actions.

Developing your self-confidence is no different. You must accept failures for you to know where your pitfalls are.

In war, a soldier hides because he still has hope that he would escape death. But he is a soldier. He has to fight and be ready to kill or be killed. There is only one reality that he can assume - that he is already dead. Unless he changes his mental state, he would continue to hide in ditches and avoid the bullets. But once he accepts that reality, he would start functioning as a soldier should be. He must accept the risks of failing and hope that by doing so, he has achieved greatness.

To improve your self-confidence, you have to take the risks first. That is, you either fall or achieve some great things. Failure will always knock at your door. But remember that the mere decision to stand and better yourself and your self-confidence has already made you a winner.

You do not need to be fearful to improving your self-confidence. Take stock of yourself and leave rid yourself of any negative thoughts. You may not be confident of yourself but your vision will push you to believing in the brighter sides of things.

The bottom line is, before we can truly start developing ourselves, we must forget the things that we are fearful about, especially the fear of failure itself. Once you have removed these obstacles, then you can begin revamping yourself with confidence-boosting thoughts and activities.

In the end, self improvements lie on clear grounds. Set your mind at ease, free from negative thinking. Free from thoughts that would only worsen your condition.

Champions Seize Opportunities Right Now

Posted by Cincysam in Motivational / Inspirational

There are many opportunities in life that we are faced with yet unfortunately most of us tend to miss most of them. Are you one of the people who wait and wait for something to come along, yet when it does it has been and gone before you have even noticed it? If so you are certainly not alone.

Recognizing Opportunities Which Come Your Way

Opportunity is often just around the corner but if we are not fully equipped to recognize it, we will never truly be able to take advantage of it. So just how do you know what an opportunity is?

Well often opportunities present themselves when you just do not expect them. They can be sparked through your own imagination and that is why sometimes it helps to carry a notebook around with you. If you are trying to improve your business for example, you can write down all of your ideas in a notebook and then look at it when you get a moment to see if any opportunities are present.

For example, if you are looking to expand your business and you have written that down in your notebook, perhaps when you read through it again you will remember seeing a business advertised somewhere local? It may sound like a long shot but it does actually happen. Opportunities are presented to us in all shapes and forms and our own minds are responsible for capturing them. It is then up to us to realize what they are and how we can achieve them.

Creating Your Own Opportunities

As well as waiting for opportunities to come to you, you also have the choice to create your own. For example, by socializing and getting your business name or simply just your personality known, you will often find that opportunities are brought to you. You may have heard of the saying “It is not what you know but who you know” and that can be true in various different circumstances.

So, by surrounding yourself with various acquaintances, you may just be able to get an opportunity that you are looking for. Generally by doing something which needs doing you are creating an opportunity.

Overall opportunities come and go into our lives every single day. We either simply lack motivation to take them on, or we just do not realize that they are there. Whatever the reason, we do have to start realizing that if we want to move on in life and be all that we can be, we need to start taking on as many opportunities as possible. Do not let fear or lack of motivation stop you from achieving your goals and taking advantage of opportunities. You can achieve whatever you want to if you put your mind to it and if you cannot see any opportunities then you can easily create them for yourself. Know what you want and try everything to achieve it. Write down goals and ways in which you can achieve them. Socialize and get your name known. Do whatever it takes and know that whatever you do achieve, was an opportunity which you embraced.
