The 1-2-3 Step Process Of Self Improvement

Posted by Ilove2write in Motivational / Inspirational

The self improvement process involves steps that will not likely be acheived without the accomplishment of their preceding steps. As humans, we find it very difficult to adjust to changes all at once, because we have already been programmed to do and see things a particular way. It does not mean that it is impossible. It simply entails that completing the final stage of the process requires discipline, patience and persistence.

Rome was not built in a day, as the popular proverb goes. Thus, if we want to reap the benefits and enjoy what our self-improvement changes can bring, we must learn to be patient. The process of self improvement does not and will not happen overnight.

Remember that personal and professional changes take some time to get used to and some degree of adjustment on our part; so we should never seek to push ourselves to adapt immediately, or these efforts will just end up in vain.

Self improvement does not happen with simply thinking that we want to improve. We have to act on this ‘want’ and transform it into a ‘need’. Saying that we want to improve is just the beginning of this challenging process.

The basic self improvement process consists of three simple steps:

1) Deciding that you really want to improve,

2) Acting on it, and

3) Maintaining the goal in mind.

To truly get ahead in life, we have to accept that sacrifices will have to be made. For example, if we choose to join a Stop Drinking support group, we have to exercise maximum discipline to stay away from the ‘enemy’. We should make every effort to avoid situations that put us in a position where choice becomes very difficult and just stay focus by repeating the benefits of the endeavour to ourselves.

We must have a good follow through for the self improvement process to really work. If we only act on it and then change our minds, or fail to stick with it, it would be like we never started to achieve anything, at all. Keeping both our eyes on the goal at all times is key. Self improvement does not stop when something is accomplished, because it is a continuous process.

Who ever said getting ahead in life was easy? Your journey will surely be difficulty, not just based on external factors, but also from yourself. If you truly want to better your life, you must realize that your worst enemy will be yourself, which is, ironically, the most difficult part to conquer. However, if you set your heart and soul into your goal and convince yourself that though the path is rocky there is a great reward waiting for you at the finish line, you will be able to survive and excel.

Life is a challenge. Conquering your inner fears and apprehensions will make your journey much more challenging. However, it will not be so if you know that you can do it. The process of self improvement is challenging, but very rewarding once you surpass the obstacles. You just have to keep a positive and open mind all the time.

Play To Your Strengths

Posted by Srana25 in Motivational / Inspirational

Who you really are is a soul. The soul uses the mind as its instrument to navigate through the world of form. And the soul itself is a spark of God, or the awareness of all that is, was, and will be.

In this experience of being a person, one who is utterly unique, with no one else like you, you may wonder about your gifts.

Your first gift, of course, is simply being alive. It is the gift of awareness. However, you also have gifts of mind, unique perceptions, strengths and talents that others do not have in the same way.

When you focus on these gifts, you feel empowered. When you focus on what you didn’t get, you feel disempowered. You have a choice: focus on what is unique and special to you and feel empowered or focus on what you do not have that other people appear to have and feel disempowered.

Wisdom, of course, would suggest that you enhance your strengths. While it may be necessary to work on a few weaknesses, your best life will come when you can make your strengths even more compelling and impressive. You will experience more healing by reinforcing what already works than trying to fix all your apparent lacks and limitations.

The purpose of your life is to find fulfillment. It is not to survive, but to thrive. And your purpose will become clear to you when you examine your gifts and discover ways to offer them to the world.

Your talents will design your dream.

All of us are talented in some unique way, and none of us are perfect, but we don’t need to be perfect to live a happy and fulfilling life following and expressing our special dream.

However, as you begin the journey to express your gifts, you will encounter obstacles. This adversity itself is a gift. It exists as an opportunity to overcome some personal limitation. It is an invitation to reach for a better answer. Those who can find the gift in adversity have also found the doorway to their success.

What really helps, after you identify your gifts and design your dream, is to have a very clear picture of who you are, what you want, and how you can benefit the world. The more detailed your picture, the more expansive, the more joyful will be the dream that you will one day live.

Success begins with a clear, focused picture of your end result.

Action alone, without vision, is often dissipated as you pursue petty goals that do not ennoble your spirit. On the contrary, a clear vision followed by relentless action, a courageous spirit, and the willingness to learn what you need to know, will create for you a life that will lead others to stare in envy.

In a funny way, life is not that complex. Ask for what you want, and be prepared to receive it. Everything starts to unfold once you perceive your gifts: the gift of life, the gift of your unique talents, the gift of your vision, and the gift in the adversity that makes you grow to fit your vision. If you just keep asking for what you want that is what you will start getting.

Now discover your strengths. Take a few moments to begin accepting your spiritual nature and healing your life with this awareness. Once you discover your strengths, you can play to your strengths and start living the life that you deserve.

How To Resolve Money Problems

Posted by Srana25 in Motivational / Inspirational

Why do many intelligent, talented people under-earn? What is the psychology behind why people short-change themselves, earn less than they are capable, and experience financial problems because their needs exceed their income?

We create money problems by resisting how much cash we allow to flow into our lives. There is no shortage of money, but a reluctance to feel worthy to receive it, even if it means extreme hardship. This is “money resistance.”

Money resistance, then, is the sub-conscious reluctance to earn more money. It is also a desire to hoard money because you feel insecure about your ability to earn more. In either case, you associate pain to money and try to avoid dealing with it.

You have money resistance when your expenses exceed your income, you feel panicked about how to pay your coming expenses, and you feel uncreative and unresourceful about how to make any more money. You also lack the drive or will to explore how to solve your problem. You have a general feeling of apathy about what to do.

Money resistance is created by the subconscious mind.

Your subconscious mind, which is about 90% or more of your mind, runs you–although, you may believe you are 100% conscious. You are run by your moods, feelings, and past traumas. In the past, when you associated any kind of pain in relationship to money, your subconscious mind tried to keep you safe by trying to bring less money into your life. Thus, you have a reluctance to earn it, save it, and even spend it. There is a general feeling of discomfort around money. You’d rather not deal with it.

You know you have money resistance if you are low on money and feel the pinch.

Most people like to point out their lack of opportunities. But if the world had a dearth of opportunities, then poverty would exist for everyone. However, many people earn large amounts of money. Thus, making money is an inner game. When you feel good about serving others, they gladly pay you for it. If this is not the case, you are either not serving others or associating with negative people. Something needs to shift within you to motivate you to find the right work and be with the right people.

It is ironic that people resist money when they need it–but this is something that happens at the sub-conscious level, not at the conscious level.

It is because money is a highly-emotionally charged subject. This charge creates a strong effect on the subconscious mind. Since most of this charge is negative, that is, pain associated with handling money, a defense mechanism of avoidance kicks in. All of this happens below the threshold of conscious awareness. On the surface of things, people appear to be struggling really hard to make a small amount of money. Yet if making money had to do with hard work, ditch diggers would be millionaires. Making money is a creative act. You have to dig into your well-spring of ideas and energy to start earning more. You can start to retrain your subconscious mind to start working in alignment with your conscious desires. When it does, you will be amazed at your own resourcefulness.

The first impact of healing a money wound is that it will improve your job performance. It will also allow you to be more resourceful in finding or creating a new job if you don’t like your current work.

When you change within, your outer world changes. You become more creative, more resourceful, more outgoing, more giving. You also stop deleting all those opportunities for further education or creative self-expression that you automatically and habitually delete. Once you uproot the reluctance to earn money, you are open to looking at your environment and your relationship to other people in a whole new way.

The only way to get control back, even if things are currently out of control, is by becoming more conscious of what is sabotaging you from within. By uprooting your beliefs about money, beliefs that you don’t even know you have, you start to move in the direction of being resourceful and taking steps to improve your situation.

I was exposed to “money resistance” when working with clients in a therapeutic practice. In that setting, you get to unravel the blocks and inhibitions in people’s subconscious minds. Therapy is bringing the hidden fears into the light of awareness, so that the person can then move beyond it. One of the biggest problems people have is insufficient income to meet their needs. However, once the root cause is pulled up to the conscious mind, you automatically let go of it.

Listen To Nature In Seeking Path To Succes

When the markets opened this morning, I observed that the stocks that I had studied and planned to buy, opened very much higher than their closing prices. Since I could not do much with the stocks, I thought I would just trade the futures which were much more volatile.

Just as I was thinking so, my fellow trader cum friend looked at me and told me to forget what was on my mind; as if he could read my mind! I asked him what he meant, and he laughed saying that the futures screen was malfunctioning and the prices were delayed for half an hour. I asked him how he knew what was on my mind, and he said that it was the same thought he had when he came in the morning. Although madly frustrated, we both still had our laugh. Not being able to do much, I sat on my chair feeling a little down to have missed a great chance of making huge profits in the volatile market.

Then it struck me, “WHAT IS NATURE TRYING TO TELL ME?” I am in a situation where virtually there was nothing I can do with regards to trading even though the opportunities were phenomenal. What was it that I was missing?

Nature, through its marvelous laws, guides individuals towards achieving the goals they set for themselves, and eventually to fulfilling the very reason they are here on this planet. Unfortunately, our inability to understand its infinite wisdom causes us to go through the various emotions ranging from negative, that is disappointment, frustration, anger etc, and to a certain extent overly positive emotions.

As I was thinking of the above, I left the office and headed home. My fellow traders tried the best to convince me to stay and trade, even though they themselves were not sure what to do! However, I made up my mind to listen to Nature, and figure out what it was telling me by shutting the doors of trading momentarily on me. On the way home, it struck me! Recently, my good friend and long time participant of my training program Steven Fu, launched my first book, through the internet to be marketed internationally.

This way, I would be able to reach out to more people and it would cost far less for anyone to acquire the book. My intention here is to share with people the practical workings of Nature’s Laws on a day-to-day aspect, rather than just concentrating on the philosophical aspect. However, my home country, Malaysia, is not in the third party merchant’s list of countries allowed to buy the e-book from. Please don’t ask me why, but these are the rules set by the payment gateway services we are using. Thus, my participants and non-participants who seriously want to purchase the product do not have an opportunity to do so! I never gave it much thought until now.

Just as I was thinking of this intensely, Madam Gomathi of Mutiara Power Packed Training Programs, called me. Her company markets and organizes training programs and seminars that I conduct in Malaysia. She also handles the marketing of my books in the country. She said that we should come up with the same e-book concept for Malaysia!

So, she started to search for a local payment gateway that will be able to accommodate my local market. Some were simply too expensive and the others did not have additional services that we needed. Finally, after securing one, she got together with our web page designers and started working on it. We are now looking into the legal aspects of doing the internet based sales, locally. I will keep you guys updated on it.

Although I was very busy with the above project, I was frequently updated by my futures broker and fellow traders on the condition of the financial markets. It turned out that the market movements were so volatile that most traders encountered more losses than gains. I am not really a brilliant trader, just average. My personal opinion after looking at the recent charts, the chances are I would have lost more if I had been in the game in the last few days!

I am just glad that I listened to NATURE

The Compass, Beehive, Virtues, & Hourglass

Impulsiveness, laziness, and weaknesses waste time foolishly, wasting human life foolishly. Self-control, industry, and virtues use time wisely, using human life wisely. The world is filled with those living wisely and foolishly, those using time and wasting time, those virtuous and weak, those industrious and lazy, and those self-controlled and impulsive. Hence, the world is filled with successes and failures.

The Compass

The Compass, a Masonic symbol, means to exercise self-restraint and self-control.

To control your destiny, you need to control your behavior. Uncontrolled behavior endangers your destiny. We have heard accounts of people killing others in a fit of rage, people cheating on their spouse in a fit of passion, and people abandoning their goals in a fit of fear. One major slip in self-control can permanently alter your destiny.

Not only does self-control prevent life mistakes, it also accomplishes goals. To accomplish challenging goals, you need to control your behavior by decreasing unnecessary behavior and increasing necessary behavior. For example, instead of watching television, you work on your goal. The more behavior is restricted to a goal, the quicker the goal is accomplished.

The Beehive

The Beehive, a Masonic symbol, means to be industrious.

An industrious person busily pursues his goal; a slothful person idles away his time. The former moves; the latter rests. Movement causes change; rest causes sameness.

If you are unhappy about your present life, you need to change it by moving. Movement solves all of life’s problems - if it is positive and solution-focused. A motivated problem-solver lives happily; a motivated complainer lives unhappily.

According to physics, Momentum = Mass x Velocity. In other words, your momentum toward a goal = mass of work done x velocity of doing work. To increase your momentum toward a goal, you can either get more work done or work faster. Actually, getting more work done is working faster.

Motivated movement moves much.

The Virtues

The principal Masonic virtues are fortitude, prudence, temperance, and justice.

To be successful in life, you must have fortitude, prudence, temperance, and justice. If any one of these virtues is missing, you will not be successful. Fortitude is important, because you need it to persist through obstacles. Prudence is important, because you need it to make good decisions. Temperance is important, because avoiding extremes keeps you balanced. Justice is important, because it keeps you on the straight path and away from the crooked path.

By persisting through obstacles, making good decisions, avoiding extremes, and keeping on the straight path, you cannot fail. Success is ensured. Fortitude + prudence + temperance + justice = success. Contrastively, spinelessness or foolishness or excess or injustice = failure. By quitting, making bad decisions, embracing extremes, or keeping on the crooked path, you cannot succeed. Failure is ensured.

Indeed, virtues equal success; weaknesses equal failure.

The Hourglass

The Hourglass, a Masonic symbol, means human life.

Human life is short. Your time is brief on this planet. Time speeds on whether you enjoy it or not, pursue your goals or not, or help the distressed or not. If you act positively, you use time wisely; if not, you waste time foolishly.

According to physics, time is the fourth dimension. The other three dimensions are length (or depth), width, and height. The dimensions interact with each other. Changing length, width, or height changes an object’s appearance. Changing time does likewise. For example, the earth looked differently a thousand years ago, and will look differently a thousand years from now.

Time changes things - for better or worse. Each of us has a piece of time; each of us has some power to change things. Though your time is finite, your changing things is infinite.

In an infinite line of standing dominoes, knocking down one domino knocks down the other dominoes successively and infinitely. In an infinite line of events, changing one event changes the other events successively and infinitely.

Therefore your time gives you power to change events particularly, changing them universally.

Summary

The compass, beehive, and virtues lead to a meaningful hourglass. Contrastively, impulsiveness, laziness, and weaknesses lead to a meaningless hourglass. Are the sands in your hourglass meaningful or meaningless?

Choose To Be Happy And You Will

Almost everyone has heard the hit single ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby McFerrin’s simple message surely made an impression on a lot of people by telling them not to worry.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.

One of the better things ever said is - ‘The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change’, and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change.

Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for whom or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with people better.

Happiness is actually found in everyone, increasing it is a way to make a life more wonderful and also healthier.

To be happy is relatively easy; just decide to be a happy person. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

There are several ways by which you can do this.

Being grateful is a great attitude. We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your clothes. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mail, thank the policeman for making your community safe and thank God for being alive.

News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can’t start their day without their daily dose of news. Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news does not seem to be a sensible thing to do.

A religious connection is also recommended. Being part of a religious group with its singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations foster inner peace.

Manage your time. Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they also say -’Laughter is the best medicine’.

Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us; they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time.

Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new everyday. Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons, and could also give us more opportunities in the future.

Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive.
