Run Your Car On Water - Why The Water Type Used Is Important?

Posted by Alanlargo in Technology

When looking into running a car on water options, the hydrogen engine or conversions are going to come up. It is important to know the type of water that is required when using these types of generators.

There are some generators that are going to advise that you use purified water. This is water that is free of everything except for H2O. This means that the water is free of any chemical additives and minerals, which may possibly interfere with the conversions process.

There are some run car on water options that are able to handle the various types of chemicals and minerals that can be found in regular tap water, or any type of water you may be using.

Keep in mind that if you use water that has minerals or chemicals in it, it could adversely affect the functionality of the generator and you may have to clean off the leftover minerals from the container from time to time.

It is always best to use some sort of purified water in your hydrogen generator, even if it says it is all right to use plain tap water. The reason being is that it does create a more effective use of the generator and that is something that is highly desirable!

It is not difficult to use tap water and through the use of filters create the water you need. Most homes come with filtration systems that can help to provide some filtration for the water. The rest can come from additional filters.

This will help to keep your car running smoothly after the run car on water conversion has taken place and you have installed the hydrogen generator. This means that you can have a cleaner engine with smoother burning.

You are going to be emitting significantly less chemicals than if the water you were using was filled with chlorine and fluoride, as well as the multitude of other chemicals that can be found in plain tap water.

Consider running an analysis of your water or checking the last reports on the water in your area to see if your water is safe to use. If you have any doubts about your water, be sure to purify it before use. This will ensure that your hydrogen generator works as it should.

If you find that the conversion kit and generator allow the use of tap water and you want to see the results, run a test using purified water as a control and then your tap water to see what the results are to judge for yourself.

This should only be done for those hydrogen generators which have been approved for tap water use. Running a car on water options are varied, and the water you use just like the gas you put in your car can make a significant difference in the performance of your vehicle.

As well as how well the conversion works for you, when in doubt it is best to use purified water since this is the type of water containing the least amount of additives. This could significantly affect the performance of your vehicle.

The Advantages Of Digital TV

Posted by Excaliburmedia in Cable and Satellite TV

Residents of both the USA and the UK can expect to be dealing with the digital switchover within the next couple of years. What this means is that region by region, analog signals (also known as terrestrial TV) will stop being broadcast and viewers will need to buy an HDTV (High Definition Television) in order to watch the new digital signals being broadcast.

The differences between analog signals and digital signals are quite stark. On a basic level, analog television screens fire a picture onto the screen a whole frame at a time. Digital television, on the other hand, either fires all the odd lines at one time followed by all the even lines (interlaced scan mode at a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels), or one line at a time (progressive scan mode at a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels). To an untrained eye digital interlaced and analog scan modes have little differences. However, progressive scan modes do improve the quality and smoothness of motion.

The most commonly used digital television standard in the UK is Freeview, which provides a number of free digital channels with a set top box, though most new televisions now have Freeview built in. The latest development is Freesat, which provides Freeview via a satellite dish and additionally will provide a number of HD channels.

One of the main advantages of Digital TV for viewers is that broadcasters are able to embed digital data into the streams, such as programme information and interactive channel menus (e.g. Press the red button now). This data is read and executed by a computer system in the television and made interactive via infra red on the viewer’s remote control pad.
Another huge advantage of digital television is that digital data takes up less bandwidth, meaning more channels can be broadcast at the same time. This gives viewers much more choice in what they watch and allows for follow up channels which broadcast the same programmes as their namesake, just an hour later.

With all television signals comes the issue of reception. The most common way to receive digital signals is through Digital Terrestrial Television, or DTT, where the binary code data is picked up via an aerial. Aerial signals, however, are subject to poor reception which results in a poorer quality picture and audio (e.g. blockiness) which is why there are alternative ways of receiving Digital signals such as through an optical/DSL cable (IPTV), via P2P internet connection, or via digital satellite. The main advantage with IPTV, P2P connection and digital satellite are that the signal is likely to be stronger, the binary code complete and therefore the picture and sound quality much better.

It is widely agreed that the audio and picture quality of Digital TV is a great improvement on Analogue TV, but this is not where the differences end. Viewers receiving Digital signals have the opportunity to receive more channels, interact with them and get a lot more out of their viewing. While it might seem that the team driving the Digital Switchover are giving the public little choice over how they watch television, it cannot be denied that the advantages of Digital TV hugely outweigh those of analogue and that the switch will benefit everyone involved.

There is more information to be found on digital tv at BT Vision where they offer free Setanta Sports to UK customers.

Ipod - An Easy To Use Technology

Posted by Robertoms2003 in Electronics

A portable device, designed by Apple computer, used for storing and playing audio files, is termed as the iPod. These devices have their own distinctive style and can store anything from a few hundred to a few thousand songs. All these audio files are generally encoded from MP3 and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) compression algorithms.

The iPod was released by Apple in 2001 and till date no other device has been able to match the ease of use of it. A couple of years later, the same manufacturers also designed and released the mini iPods that were one-third of the size of the original. Then, came the shuffle, the smallest member of the iPod family, which was almost the size of the package of a stick gum.

Initially the they had a small hard disk for storage. Even the flash memory used by shuffle had a small hard disk. The only benefit with the flash memory is that it retains its contents even after the power is turned off, unlike the computer memory that loses its content once the power is switched off. But with increasing downfall in the capacity as well as the prices of all the three models, the storage capacity of all the three has increased over time.

The greatest advantage of the iPods is the way it works with the programs on the PC. They work in synchronization with a software called iTunes present in the personal computer (PC). This happens as soon as it is connected with the PC that uses either Windows or Macintosh operating systems. It automatically updates the music library and keeps a track of how often a song is played. It removes the old episodes that are heard and replaces it with the new ones. This synchronization does not require the intervention of the user and this has made the iPods much more accessible than the MP3s and has resulted in its domination over the other devices.

Another advantage of iPod is that, the moment they are plugged in, the batteries recharge, without any manual botheration. Moreover they work quite well as audiobooks. This is especially noted when you stop listening, it remembers exactly the song where you stopped and begins automatically from the next one. This facility is generally not available on most of the players where it is required to listen to the entire chapter to get to the next number. Also, we get the facility of listening to songs at a faster rate that proves helpful when there is enough material to cover in a short time.

The Apple added another feather to its cap in the form of the iPhone, which is a blend of the cell phone and iPod in one device. This portable device also has a camera and can even connect to the internet, that too wirelessly. Thus a small box can be used for making phone calls, listening to music, taking pictures, downloading music, checking e-mails and surfing websites. After the iPhone, came the iPod touch that resembles the former a lot in appearance and functions except for the camera and the phone.

However, before buying any model of iPod, it is important to consider the use of the same. If you want to watch videos or play games, then the earlier versions can be a good choice. Shuffles and nano are simply wrong choices for such an application. These models are functional if you are just interested in hearing a lot of music of your choice. The iPhones and iPod touch are multifunctional and the latest choice of the present generation.

iPods have also faced some criticism based on its short life span and frail hard drives. Moreover they were condemned over the fact that some of their models were more durable than the others. It was observed that the models that used hard drives were weaker than the models using flash memory. Inspite of all these downs, iPod continued its innovativeness and won many accolades and awards throughout the world.

How To Remove An Installed Car Stereo

Posted by Vgevge in Electronics

Car stereos are installed in cars to make the driving comfortable and enjoyable. For most of the people today a car stereo is a vital element of their car. They are placed at the heart of the car audio system and are nicely shaped and fitted as to match the interiors of the car.

Now, it may sometimes happen that rather than using the factory installed car stereo year after year, people may want to try a better quality system. But lack of knowledge about the specific ways of removing an installed car stereo can prove to be a hindrance. However, in this case it should be mentioned that though removing an installed car stereo is not a tough job yet it needs caution since the process is technical.

The process of removing an installed car stereo depends mainly on the type of the stereo and the type of the car. Generally, there are two main ways to remove a car stereo, the spring mounted clips and bolt-on. In the first, the stereo is held in place by 4 small clips, so that the stereo does not slide out of the dash. The tools necessary to remove it are a pair of DIN tools that are usually U-shaped. And at the top of the U there are small poles that fix the clips to the stereo. After inserting properly, there will be a click sound and the stereo will simply slide out of the dash.

There are car stereos that are attached to the dash and then it will be a bit difficult to get it out. However, there aren’t special tools for the uninstalling process. There are brackets bolted to the car. They are sometimes mounted to the stereo to bring some variation in the method. However, to access the screws or the bolts that hold the stereo in the place, a few trims have to be removed. And one has to be careful while removing them. That is the essence of the bolt-on method.

There are basically one or two trim pieces that surround the face of the stereo. And to remove it the screws that are usually hidden from normal view have to be detached. Infact, there are some hidden clips which have to be taken care of while removing the trim. In this case, removal tools can be used.

Now once the trims are removed we should remove the screws or bolts holding it in place. When they too are removed, the stereo will slide out of the dash.

Then you should disconnect the electrical connectors at the back of the stereo, by unscrewing the antenna cable at first. Actually, the antenna cable is the furthest connection near the passenger side. The next step is removing the power connection. Finally, you must remove the wiring harness connector from the back of the stereo. Now, as all the electrical connections are removed from the back of the stereo, the car stereo is removed completely. These are basic instructions about removing an installed car stereo. In the case of any complication you should give a call to the service center and get expert guidance.

Obtaining Information From A GPS Tracking System

Posted by Robertoms2003 in GPS - Global Positioning System

GPS tracking system is a high-end gadget of the modern era, intended to determine the position of a vehicle, person or an asset to which the device is connected. So far it is the most convenient device to get information about a remote asset in regular intervals.

After its introduction in 1978, when it was in its experimental stage, it has become an essential and practical technology to meet high expectations of people in the direction of monitoring remote assets. As the name Global Positioning System suggests the device can be used anywhere on the earth. The technology behind the function of GPS is related to global positioning of the satellites moving round the earth.

However, your GPS tracking system will work only if you have access to Global Positioning System and a GPS receiver. The GPS satellites transmit the information to the receivers and it becomes easy to calculate the location, speed and direction of the asset connected to it. For an effective calculation of position, it is essential for the GPS receiver to receive transmission from three or more satellites.

The information that is stored in the receiver unit is transmitted to a database that can be accessed through the internet or mobile phone. Usually, the GPS tracking system give real time information with a map on their background to display the exact location of the tracked object. However, the downside of the device is that it can hardly trace an object placed inside a building.

Now, it is clear that the GPS receiver is able to receive the information only and store it in a database. Hence, you must need another device or technology to access the information from the database for independent positioning and timing info. A cellular phone modem is the a technology for the purpose; thereby causing it an essential part of a GPS tracking system. There are different possibilities through which it is convenient to obtain the position information.

1 - The modem can be programmed with your mobile number and a timer is set to get information on that particular intervals of time. Adjusting the time interval is just a matter of calling the modem and changing some settings.

2 - Program your cell phone modem as a mobile phone with its own number that allows sending small text messages. Whenever you want any information about the position of your asset, just call the modem`s phone number and you will get an SMS message coordinating with the position.

3 - If you have installed suitable software and map on your mobile phone, the message locating the position on a map can be translated to the mobile phone screen.

All the above three technologies have got same kind of advantages. You can use them without a service contract and without paying for monthly fee. This even will nott allow anyone to know about you using these technologies. As per the disadvantage, in the first two cases you have to translate the SMS text to a position on the map. However, for the third option, you need to purchase the software and the maps.

It is also possible to view the information through Internet or a mobile phone with Internet facility. This possibility allows you check the real-time as well as past information.

The ultimate way is to use a mobile phone with GPS tracking system.

You may be wondering how the system can work in an area where there is no coverage of cell phone. The only solution is to replace the cell phone modem with a satellite modem.

GPS is a free service and is provided for the benefits of public. It has come up as a useful technology in every sector where monitoring remote asset is essential. Thanks to this new age technology, it has reduced the burden of insecurity to a large extent and enhanced performance when used for professional purpose.

Top 10 Reasons To Love Handheld GPS Devices

Posted by Pdelray in GPS - Global Positioning System

Being lost in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of New York City is not much fun. People have always been looking for better ways to keep track of where they are, where they have been, and where they are going. Even little Hansel and Gretal left breadcrumbs as they wandered to help them get back home. Granted, the breadcrumbs were eaten by pesky animals almost as soon as they were dropped, but the children had the right idea. When venturing out to places that are unfamiliar, there is a great sense of security with knowing exactly where you are; explorers have been using landmarks, maps, and charts for millennia to stay safe.
We have come a long way since the days of breadcrumb trails and mysterious pirate treasure maps. We ve got GPS on our side now, and walking through the wilderness or hiking through deserted mountains is no sweat with a handheld GPS unit. There are endless reasons to love these gadgets, and the top ten are listed here:

Reason #10: Even though handheld units sometimes don t come with all of the fancy features that larger units like marine devices do, that s ok, because who needs to know the location of buoys when you are geocaching in the Amazon? Handheld ones are simple enough for Tarzan to use.

Reason #9: Handheld units can be cheap, and are available in models that cost below one hundred bucks, a small price to pay for always being able to know where you are.

Reason #8: Handheld units fit comfortably in your hand, making them very portable and readily available, should you need to pull it out quickly or keep it close by. The larger units made for cars, for example, are larger, heavier, and a lot more cumbersome.

Reason #7: Versatility makes handhelds great for anyone doing anything. Whether you are hiking on a trail deep in a ravine or out on safari with the lions, your handheld can go with you, easily.

Reason #6: Handheld devices are made to be tough, so when you are cycling through the desert, you don t have to worry that dropping and having it drug off by a scorpion will break it. They are often constructed with thick rubber to absorb the shock of being dropped time after time.

Reason #5: These little gadgets are just as accurate as the big boys. All GPS units operate with at least three different satellites that orbit the Earth, so a signal is a signal is a signal.

Reason #4: With a handheld one, you can set waypoints, calculate distances traveled, and they have the ability to map out and calculate your entire route, no worries.

Reason #3: They come in so many different shapes and sizes that they are easily customizable to fit not only your needs, but your hand, too.

Reason #2: Handheld units are completely self contained, which means there are no wires, cords, or converters required to use them, unlike many of the marine or auto units.

And, the #1 reason to love a handheld GPS unit is that you will look super suave being the hero of your group when you are in the middle of Los Angeles, dying of starvation, and no one knows how to get to the little hole in the wall eatery you are looking for except for you, thanks to your GPS friend sitting right in the palm of your hand.
