Awesome Cell Phone Alternatives

Posted by Ideastone in Cell Phones

Cellphones are growing in popularity and seemingly are everywhere. From teenagers to the elderly, a cell phone has gone from being a luxury I don’t to being a standard survival device for the modern man. But not everyone needs a cell phone. For many people, the cell phone should still be considered a luxury item, if for no other reason than many people don’t use cell phones for anything more than sending boring, lame and silly text messages to their friends.

The old concept that cellular phones are merely luxurious toys is now dismissed by the growing need for it. Cellular phones now became a very essential tool for everyone including parents who want to know where their kids are on a real time basis.

Thus, cellular phones of various models and designs now flood the market. Cell phones are cheap, widely available, and can practically be bought at your corner Gen. Store, and small kiosks at the mall. Soon the cell phone could become a completely disposable device that is only used a few times and thrown away.

Because of this great need and want for cellular phones, manufacturers flood the market from cheap cellular phones to high-tech cellular phones. Knowing what you need and how you need it may help you find a cellular phone with reasonable and useful features. If you are to buy a cheap cellular phone, you should never expect it to perform tasks a high tech cellular phone can give.

Merely being able to send and receive calls may be enough for you to expect from your cheap cellular phone. Not everyone needs to take pictures, send text messages, surf the Internet or watch YouTube videos on the phone. After all, whatever happened to us on being used for phone calls, all things?

One option that many people sail to consider is the prepaid cell phone option. The phones themselves are not offered for free, but they offer the option to only use what you pay for. For example, you buy minutes like you would with a calling card. And when those minutes run out, you need to recharge the phone.

This could save you hundreds of dollars in the long run. Think about it, with free nights and weekends most people almost never use their 500 600 800 900 Minute a month allotment. Do you get to keep those minutes? Aside from Cingular, no other carrier supports this option. With a prepaid phone, you don’t necessarily lose your minutes.

Another factor to consider is that the contract commitment. Most “free” phones are not in fact free at all. They come with a two-year contract that locks you into a particular service provider, no matter what. Unless you’re willing to pay a $200 fee. At that point, you are stuck with that carrier like a bad marriage for two whole years.

Long contracts do not have to be your future, you can consider the alternatives such as prepaid cell phone options as a way to free your phone from draconian, terrible service that all wireless providers, seem hell-bent on providing.

Does Blackberry Have A Chance To Beat Apple?

Posted by Datepad in Cell Phones

Verizon is about to release the Blackberry Storm and so far the reviews are mixed. For those that don’t know the iPhone is one of the most popular smart phones on the planet and for good reason. It has revolutionized the way people use a cell phone. First off it’s a phone, it’s sends emails, you can browse the web, listen to music, take pictures and video, it’s basically a little computer with a phone attached to it.

Before we get into the new Blackberry Storm let’s talk about why the iPhone is so popular. Past all of the features mentioned above Apple has the ability to make things look really sexy. I have had an iPod for 5 years and during that time have owned other units including a Sandisk Mp3 player. Personally the Sandisk was cheaper, easier to use and much more robust. It was however extremely ugly, it was utilitarian definitely not sexy like the iPod. I am not one of those guys that really cares about this sort of stuff as I am a function over style guy, I am also a minority when it comes to this and Apple is smart enough to realize this.

Now let’s get back to the Blackberry Storm, like the iPhone it has a full screen touch pad, it takes pictures, you can browse the web, it has an operating system that is similar to the iPhone in its abilities and is a great media player. The big difference at least the obvious big difference is the that the Storm has a clickable touch screen. Every time you click on the screen it feels like you have clicked on a normal button. This makes typing much easier and I you have ever tried typing on a iPhone you’ll know what I am talking about, it’s a pain in the butt.

After reading through many tech sites and their incredibly detailed reviews here is what most of them are saying. The Storm’s clickable screen works well but isn’t exactly like using the old blackberry qwerty keyboard. The Storm is in the end a Blackberry so it comes with the world’s best email system, it’s so fast it usually hits your phone before it will show up in your Outlook inbox. The camera on the Storm is also superior to the iPhone and the media site of the Storm is very good.

Were the Apple wins is in its browsing capabilities, the fact that is has built in Wi-fi and well the fact that’s it’s a little more polished than the Storm. The interesting part here is will Blackberry be able to take some business from Apple. Blackberry has since day one been in the business market and has done very well, the Storm while more geared towards the average consumer is still designed with a business user in mind.

It will be interesting to see how things play out the other issue that Blackberry has right now is the economy. While the major stock markets of the world continue to have a negative impact on the rest of us and as unemployment lines grow will consumers really be looking to purchase a $500 phone this year?

Used Cell Phones Taking Flight

Posted by BillNBPI in Cell Phones

I just got up today. The morning is really refreshing and really great. Today I would finally start working in my dream company. Finally, after some time of wandering and hoping, I would be working.

It is not all great things though; working for this company is also a matter of sacrifice for me. Since this companys office is located in another state, I would have to leave my hometown. That means I would have to be on my own. I was never on my own ever before.

In fact, I am a very clingy person. I would always want to be with my parents and friends so this moving into another state is a very brave move for me. As a part of growing up, I know I have to be very brave to do this. And well, beginning today, I would really be brave enough because I am finally out on my own. Finally, I would be working for this company I have always dreamed of working since I was a kid. Finally, I would put into use whatever knowledge and skills I have learned when I was in school.

Being apart from my parents, siblings and friends would be definitely difficult but there is always the cell phone to do the magic for me.

Before I left our hometown, my parents and I bought used cell phones. The used cell phones were sold rather cheaply in the shop in town center. I and my parents were never really into these phones because we are the old school type of people. Since I was moving out, my parents thought it would be best for us to buy even used cell phones because I could not have my own telephone readily.

These phones are good enough for us to at least never lose contact while I am still trying to familiarize my self with the new environment. I cannot help but smile when I remember my parents reaction when they first used the used cell phones we bought. They were really like children who were so fond of the new toy. As you can imagine, my parents are both in their sixties and we are also living in a much laid back town so these phones are really considered new to the sight. But I must admit these phones are really nice toys.

When I left, my parents called me up as soon as I landed here in San Francisco, of course! Yes, the used cell phones are really useful. Who would have thought, my mom would be an expert texter? Yes, definitely she got hooked into using it so much she texts me almost every now and then to check if I am doing well.

As I passed by a store yesterday, I saw that they sell recent models of used cell phones. I am thinking about buying these phones and send them to my parents. Maybe that would be great and maybe that would be really nice. Well, maybe I would have to wait until my first pay check comes and I could buy them used cell phones again.

All Like The Cell Phones Used

I am really trendy. As a teenager, I always go by the trends in my society. When I was younger, I never really mind getting all those beepers or those new portable games. I was just a kid who loves to play the toys I receive from people I know during Christmas. But, how time flies, now, I am fifteen and I need to be with people my age. I need to have all the things that are necessities for our kind of life style. As part of growing up and the need to be accepted, we need to go with the flow. We need to establish our selves and the best way to do that is to follow the trend, after all, what is in is always preppy!

There are many of these necessities there is the computer, the music player and cell phones to name a few. Among them the cell phone is really the most vital one, next to computers perhaps. But really, teeners are really into this hip stuff called mobile or cell phones. It is their core.

I agree, even I, cannot imagine the weekend not sending text messages to my friends and that cute guy in school, Ralph! Oh, yes I really like it when I see his name in my inbox.

These phones are really essentials when you want to keep the communication line burning for you and your friends. So, ever since I was in middle school, I started to become particular with cell phones.

You might think I am lucky because I am the youngest and my siblings all have jobs. They buy mobile phones and I am blessed that when they buy these phones, I take the cell phones used by them. So lucky indeed because they give these phones used by them almost every month. Yes, Virginia is green with envy.

My friends would think I have a whole lot of money to have these every now and then. Well, that is what they call luck perhaps.

Indeed the cell phones used by my siblings are not new but they are really helpful to me. Because of these phones used by my siblings I could be preppy and I could also be reached so easily. There is no need for me to spend a cent because it is used by them, I benefit much!

I am thinking of actually selling the other phones used since I could not use all of them at once. For sure my friends would be glad to also have their own cell phones used. I will not charge much. The cell phones used will generate money that might be used for buying a really good book or a piece of really nice clothes is it not?

For sure my siblings will not mind. Just the other day, my sister told me she has this these phones used by some people she know who plans of selling their cell phones to younger people who might be interested.

Now, I do not only know I also sell cell phones used by other people.

Prepaid Cell Phones Save You Money

Many cell phone users across the globe use prepaid cell phones. Some of the main reasons for going with prepaid options are the avoidance of hidden fees that you never knows the origin of, freedom from unfair contracts that keep you tied to one cell phone provider, complete control over your monthly cell phone expenditures, and freedom from having to pay a large cancellation fee when you want to cancel your current contract.

Prepaid wireless phone service tends to be less expensive than postpaid monthly plans that have a contract involved. On average, approximately 20% of all purchased minutes on contract plans go unused every month. People are paying for something they don’t use. They are literally paying for air and the big wireless companies are reaping the reward for doing nothing. You definitely don’t get a refund for minutes you don’t use.

Also the average contract based cell phones plan is approximately 20% higher in cost when you get your bill compared to what the person who sold you the plan told you it would be. This is the dark side of the cell phone industry. The phone you buy and the network you pay for are just ways of getting you into the company’s system. Once you’re in, you can get “nickel and dimed” to death. It’s not a consumer-friendly system.

With prepaid cell phones there are fewer surprises and generally no hidden charges. Roaming fees do not exist on these types of plans, and because users pay in advance there is no opportunity for a vendor to add unexplained and difficult to understand charges.

Prepaid cell phones allow you to pay only for the airtime minutes and text messages that you use. You just load your wireless account with exactly the talk time you think you will need, and you never have to worry whether or not your chosen monthly plan is the perfect plan for you. When you need more talk time, you just have to buy more. This is a great option for those who use their phones a lot during different times of the year.

Formerly, prepaid cell phones were generally most attractive to people who wouldn’t be able to pass a credit check or who didn’t have enough money for a high monthly bill. Today, however, people in all socioeconomic levels are seeing the benefits and superiority of prepaid cell phone services.

People do not like being abused by the big mobile service companies. Unfair contract terms, hidden costs, and large monthly bills are making prepaid and pay-as-you-go mobile phone models look very attractive to many people. Consumers are more savvy these days, and if they have a chance to save money and avoid unfair contracts, then they will take it.

Prepaid cell phone services provide their customers with the same range of brand name cellular phones models. LG, Motorola, Sprint, LG, and other brand name cell phone models are available through many prepaid wireless providers and sometimes, just like with the standard two year contract model, you can get the handset for free. This depends on which company you go with and what deal you find.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next several years. Will prepaid cell phones completely take over? This is a good thing for the market. Cell phone companies are going to have to change the way they do business.

Unfair contracts will not be allowed to exist with the newer savvier cell phones user. If you give someone options, they will be able to find the better deal. Furthermore, the larger companies are now offering prepaid and pay as you go services. The people have spoken.
